  1. Done All those and still crap the car is way underbraked for its performance but I guess thats just the bit of the design that feels 16 years old. So I should not moan. I just came back from a track day with my missus' RX8 and my brakes are crap in comparsion it gave me the hump. I want my car to look stock as I love 'sleeper' mode so the stock wheels will have to stay and it looks like I need R32 discs and calipers. That is un-less Simthy's R33 / 34 kit fits under stock wheels.? Thanks for the info guys
  2. I can see how aerodynamically the wheels are shaped to scoop air in to cool the brakes.......On your side view your rear wheels would be doing this but the fronts would not. I am I confused ? I have seen wheels all sorts of ways round so what is the definitive 'factory' setting?
  3. Team, Thought you might want some pics of my new custom made pipe as an alternative look to the many options out there. Its a full stainless de-cat system in 2.5 inch pipe (not excessively droney but still good flow) with custom back boxes designed specifically for good flow and good sound conservation. It sounds cool but will still sound cool after a 300 mile M-way trip which was my design brief. :hyper: Think opinions may be polarised on the 'look' but I like it. Guys the Bottom line £600 notes custom fitted to my car at the factory. Cannot say enough good stuff about Ian and the guys at blueflame  It has really liberated performance +49HP :D :D :D according to my Apexi and was the missing link for my tuning. :D The poll is good deal or not? Spec:- Mines Light Tune ECU Blitz Filter 360deg bearing turbos Stillen Intercoolers Blueflame Custom Exhaust Chris
  4. It MUST be the tension rod bush because I got new adjustable upper control arms. The day has warmed up now and no noise so I'm gonna grease those suckers up and get some rose jointed ones before I go to the Ring. :nana2: Chris
  5. Guys it as cold as witches tit here this morning and I took the Z on the school run  what i heard all the way there and back was that horrible graunching from the front paasenger side suspension. In order to solve this problem which has been around for a while, (both sides on and off mostly on cold mornings), My car has been fully re-bushed, got brand new upper control arms and new dampers all round. :headvswal I just cannot think what the F£*% it is that is still squeaking. I push down on the wing and it squeaks sounds 10X worse inthe car. Now getting paranoid about tension rods shearing off the lower control arms etc. (mind going everywhere). I get a shimmy under heavy braking too that feels like warped discs but they are new too. Is it my control arms? Anyone out there who has had or solved this or even shares the same symptoms please post. I wanna sort this before I go to the ring. On a lighter note my new custom exhaust released 45 extra pony's  :D :D :D Chris
  6. will they fit stock wheels? (UK spec wheels)
  7. I fitted EBC sportline replacement discs (stock size, drilled and grooved) Red stuff pads, goodridge hoses. and fresh fluid. My car still shimmys under hard braking and fades during sporty driving. It has all new bushes and bearings etc. and the discs are not warped.......I want better brakes like the ones on my missus RX8  If i can fit bigger rotors and cast iron calipers off an R32 it should help a lot n'est pas?
  8. Cheers bud so i just need to bolt-on R32 skyline fronts then? :smash: Anyone done this? Any issues I can learn from? Chris
  9. Team, Whats the best brake upgrade you can do whilst keeping the stock UK wheels.? Can you do the skyline upgrade for instance? Chris
  10. The Missus RX8 came only with a can of miracle foam standard and has been factory lowered so if the AA didn't pick-up I'd be on their ass  When my autobox blew the AA picked it up but only after the first truck that came couldn't do it cause it has been lowered so, i insisted and they brought a flat bed whilst i sat in the pub drowning my sorrows :duffer: Chris
  11. Hi Chris, Got on this thread way way late and have probably missed the party boat BUT........ I have a place in Hull (so that ferry is damn convenient) and want to meet up with you guys at the ring. My missus is taking her RX8, I will come in the Z which has just been done to perfection by the guys at Ztech (thanks guys). I will use the occasion to publicly unveil my new custom made exhaust :) My buddy is planning on taking his Elise and we may have a DeTomaso Pantera (if it doesn't break down) with us. My track day coach is a ringmeister and she is over there regular (testing for prodrive). I was at prodrive today and mentioned the trip she has said that if she is there she can do us a club discount and organise coached laps which will make you way quicker than you would have been and probably help us avoid any tears due to a bent car. :x: So the question? What day(s) are you intending to drive the ring? So we can rendezvous. Chris
  12. Will probably go for this when they bring one out for my IPod model :headvswal  Chris
  13. Guys, My auto box expired about 15,000 miles after I starting seeing these type of symptoms even though I tried to mitigate them (see below). I later found that I inadvertantly accelerated the demise of the box by fitting an HKS ALC module that is supposed to crisp up the gear change. Do not be tempted by this crude device it wrecks old boxes - period. :headvswal Better off getting good oil, the level right and fitting an oil-cooler upgrade. Z centre do a neat one which simultaneously upgrades the engine oil cooler. The oil engine oil cooler becomes the box cooler and the supplied upgrade becomes the new engine oil cooler. :smash: In the meantime start saving the £1,800 it costs to get the box re-conditioned and replaced. If you are thinking of buying an auto on its original box 70,000 miles is the bang time. You could always do a manual conversion if you want but that costs big too. So whatever way you look at it start saving.......Of course while you are down there you will want to do turbo's, oil pump, water pump, belts etc, etc. etc. Money pit time............ :wack: "300ZX's ferrari performance for mondeo price"..........Yeah right but with 300zx running / repair costs (and don't think it won't happen to me) My 300 has cost me £8,000+ repairs / upgrades in 12months of ownership and believe me it was the best of 18 cars I saw before I purchased. If you have a doggy car God only knows what it will cost to run......... Chris
  14. Team........ Anyone got any pics of a neat I Pod install on a Zed. I have one of those little FM senders but it is Shite :x: Want to do a proper job but it look sweet. Any Pics would be useful. Chris C
  15. what up-rated brakes CAN you fit with stock (UK) wheels? Chris
  16. think about:- alternator (60 k life span) water pump (as above) Oil pump Turbos basically as much as you can afford bud
  17. The MAN has supressed the technology dude !
  18. Its the 300's aerodynamics they are ace from stock :smash: and then if you lower and smoooth the underside............So anyone doing and carbon undertrays and diffusers?????
  19. yeah but what about the one with a stock bottom end !!!!!!!! And two burst tires (sic) at 230+ and she handled sweet........ That is one HELL of a car we all own
  20. Guys attached are some scans I have just done from a killer find in the US. Turbo magazine to celebrate its 20th Anniversary have re-run its 1992 article on the bonneville record setting 300zx's The legendary 1991 Jun & Blitz  cars. These were 800bhp+ monsters that show that even though skylines sometimes seem to have the edge on power, you cannot beat good aerodynamics from the off. Read the sidebars and imagine how sick :hurl: the guy in the twin turbo ferrari testarossa special must have been to be toasted by our Japanese friends !!! LOL

  22. I think he means 7 hours in "Honey it will take time". i.e How long will it take you to change that outside light bulb Honey? er 2 mins?............one snapped screw later and a trip to B & Q.........2 hours Its amazing how many DIY jobbers cannot remember how much real time it takes to do stuff............ A bit like the human in-ability to recall pain............
  23. cool looking ride james! subtle but brutal, classy mods mate........Nice to see a Z that is not cheesy in a look-at-the-size of my wing way. It looks like the Zed would have gone had it evolved...........
  24. I would use the club and go with people who have a reputation founded on their love for the Z. My gearbox died recently taking the propshaft bearings with it and I also knew my turbo's needed replacing.........etc. etc. :( I want another 60k miles with my Z until the new GTR arrives so I had to bite the bullet for serious work. Ztech have been absolutely A1 throughout and taken me through my trauma as well as sorting bits on the car that I did not needed doing and recommending me away from spending money when I thought I wanted to. That is my measure of a top place. No one loves my Z more than me but I would not hesitate leaving it with ryan and his team for work. They pick-up and deliver also. But I will be driving mine home!!!! Good luck with the re-build cause you know you'd be dissappointed driving anything less. e.g. My bosses Aston is shite compared to my Z Chris
  25. I want to know how to keep appropriate pressure (to keep my new 360 bearing tubs sweet) and stay legal. I am going to get a custom made system that looks stock-ish as I hate the JDM sewage pipe look. I was going to opt for the free-flowing cats as I had heard from 2006 on it will be almost impossible to pass an MOT whatever the cars age (based on new emission regs) without a cat even though they say you do not need cats on cars older than 95. It was described to me as the back door way of getting older cars off the road. I hope I'm wrong :x:
