  1. For not much more you could try this if it is something like your spec of car...............I would do this rather than going for a no-name chip or a copy of a chip. Here you get known tuning house Mine's  and serial number, tamper seals etc. I have dealt with these guys and you get exactly what is described I am a happy customer not a sales rep:- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mines-VX-Rom-ECU-Computer-Z32-300ZX-VG30dett-Fairlady_W0QQitemZ8002201629QQcategoryZ33596QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Chris
  2. Phew just back from donnington park (british superbikes) wicked racing anyway.......... Is there anyone on the list or trader section who knows a good source to make some proper carbon parts/ I am looking to do a simple front splitter that would also replace the front under tray, a bit like the R34 V-Spec UK one, and a rear diffuser to clean up the flow under the car, but crucially still keep a stock look-ish. Also my workshop manual shows front brake air-flow guides attached to the front tension rods anybody got them on their Z ? Mine are missing,,,,,,,,,,, :( Chris
  3. No hard feelings, respect and much love Chris
  4. Sorry Chris did not mean to offend it has just been my experience so far and will gladly enjoy that being changed by the traders on the list. I will PM you to discuss further.
  5. Sorry I was responding to the later message you posted about my attitude and my 'friends in the US'. Thanks for pointing out my 'error' that I should have asked in the trader section. I did I posted asking for a list of nismo parts available. I was in a hotel in paris it was middle of the night, my car was on the ramps stuck with a guy wanting parts. I went to a traders website........ parts not listed, that is why I went US website got sorted. In your model I would have added a non-value adding step, ask-wait-for-reply etc. I won't mention the website or the guy in question but he should be right now checking why he didn't get the deal. Chris
  6. You just did it. Thats exactly what I mean about the UK attitude to service, instead of you wanting to help me, sort things for me or otherwise and 'add value' it took two posts to effectively say f-off. - nice 'club'. They are not my 'american friends' they are traders who mostly trade as if customers matter not that someone owes them a living just because they live nearby. They are also your friends too that is why your house is full of their culture and products. I joined the 'club' to access help advice and opinion. I was not aware it was a home shopping channel too! Remember it cost me a fee to join. It is also a pretty good deal for 'them' too (owners / traders). They get cheaper access to customers than having a real shop, free plugs from happy customers, and a forum to update people and help people pro-actively. They should not object to hearing opposing experiences they have every chance to put that right with me. I add value by posting and help people on the basis of my experiences so do others. Curiously no one objects on this list when we link to other pages from all over the world with highly informative tech advice etc. but I don't hear the webmaster worrying about his job............. Chris
  7. You have got to be joking surely...........I tell you what lets region code the parts so those consumers cannot exercise free market choice....... My experience is directly the opposite of that you suggest. UK 'service' generally sucks compared to US. In the US the starting point is how may I help vs UK starting point is I don't like serving people, what did you do wrong? No the problem is yours not mine etc. Price inflation is there because UK 'productivity' in service sector is 35% less than the equivalent U.S............Fact I got ripped by a UK 300 enthusiast who sold me an exhaust that didn't fit my car !!!!! Ass holes are everywhere. If the guys on the list are genuinely offering something extra as added value then I will gladly give them my custom in spades........ Sorry but its the reality of the new world.
  8. Oh sorry better go and buy that shitty Rover cause its british made after all. Sorry my recommendations / comments were because my experience from UK dealers has been that genuine nissan parts come slower than they take to get here from the U.S. and are way more expensive even when you factor tax etc. etc. Also I am a global guy who works in many time zones so I am afraid I am always gonna drive the best deal especially on all those trick jap aftermarket parts that cost in dollars what they cost in pounds. If someone is 'adding value' by giving me something extra or adding something then I will gladly give them my custom in spades and also recommend to everyone else. But they need to make sure they are really adding value not just a UK mail box and forwarding service. That is why we all have multi-region DVD players. and jap import cars. I searched some UK websites for the nismo bushes I wanted whilst my car was stuck on a ramp guess what?.........not listed, no picture, Energy suspension listed but no picture, no price !!!!! US websites listed, pictures, notes about old out-date kits and tie rod updates, cheap prices, etc. So in the global village we now live in I searched and got them 2 days later from texas. Long live free trade after all it is what got us the jap cars we all love. If we had listened to UK car sector we would not have Jap cars imported due to bogus stories about why we should patronise them not buy 'grey'. Add value and long live free trade Don't add value and then wait to take your place in the village Chris
  9. Sorry? Did I upset someone or say something out-of-turn? Do you sell these items chris? I only plugged the guys that helped me and supplied me my stuff to do this job.........Hope I haven't upset anyone
  10. sorry wrong link should have been http://www.courtesyparts.com
  11. Where is this from and do you need two MAF sensors? Chris C
  12. Symptoms sounds just like the speed sensor. These seem to be going with the regularity of a part reaching the end of its design life (many on the list having probs). I changed out a perfectly good (solid state) converter before I found it was the (mechanical) speed sensor. :headvswal do the maths it is more likely to be your 13 year old sensor than your newish electronics............ IMHO suggestlooking there first
  13. Me too i am super anal about little noises and yes the bushing kit has marginally raised the Db's in the ,of the transmission. But this is only very slightly and it is actually a cool noise. Under full load it is more of a power whistle / whine from the rear and curiously road rumble from the wheels has actually diminished with the urethane bushes. I think if your trans / diff is on they way out then the bushings would reveal that but IMHO it is nothing to stop you from doing it as the benefits are good Chris
  14. Before you do that replace the stock suspension bushes (rubber) to urethane a full master bushing kit for the price of one coil-over will transform the car. Suggest Contacting luke at the z centre for the parts. Also Nismo do the front control arm bushes that are missing from the urethane kits try http://www.courtesynissan.com for the parts as they are way better service and prices than UK dealers. Even if you do do the suspension upgrade you need to do the bushes anyway. Chris
  15. My JDM TT has a reverse bleeper but it only sounds quietly inside the car. I kinda like it as a quirky JDM thing.........Like the shag pile mats........
  16. Yahoo, I got my Z back and its now time to file the report after a 400 mile blast with the new kit on: Conditions dry, good weather. Location: Anyone who knows the journey up to Kinloss will know the part of the journey that is the 'top gear' dream road. The best way to describe the effect of the urethane bushing kit is an all round 'crispness' in handling that wasn't there before. Whilst not returning a totally 'new car feel' it at least makes it seem half its age! The car feels more planted on the road and more secure on fast bumpy bends. But heres the but it definitely feels slightly more skittish on turn-in than it was before. I have so far put that down to probably the age of dampers and springs being revealed by new bushes. Perhaps the HICAS has been affected a little as the discernable HICAS twitch is much diminished. Having said that the car behaves really well on the edge and the turn-in is razor sharp. Overall effect is a discernable enhancement over the already superb handling. Note bushes were changed as an upgrade not replacement of shot bushes. Will see how they perform when run-in some more and report further. In fitting ignore what the instructions say about pressing some of the bearings out we had to burn the main subframe bearings out there was no way they would press out. It is a long job to do all the bushes and no doubt faster if you have done it many times. Without access to a car lift, press and torch facilities leave this job to a specialist. Overall Value for money upgrade 9 /10 EBC sport disc set (front & rears) c/w red stuff pads Early days yet but I am quietly pleased with these. They are really just drilled & grooved stock replacement discs but do what they should and the redstuff pads are more fade resistent than stock. I have had some comments about longer term reliability so lets see how they do. Fitting was an easy sunday job. Value for money is good so if they are reliable 8/10 if not 0/10 no place for poor quality on a high performance car...........watch this space Goodridge Hoses Discernable increase in pedal firmness but rear hoses did not fit my jap spec car. We had to make up new hard lines as well as the fitting on the hoses was not deep enough. You also have to make up a grommet arrangement to fit the hoses. The manufacturer is missing a trick here as for pennys the value would be much increased. The connections thing was maybe a jap spec / Uk spec as I have heard people also have problems with US kits too. Value for money 8/10 Chris
  17. Thanks guys will buzz him and probably get it done before it goes.......... Cash willing of course.........
  18. Yeah I am waiting for that day bud............I am living in denial right now (fingers crossed etc.) on the think positive vibes of:- Car totally std when imported, I did the auto trans fluid myself at 60k and what I took out looked amazingly good considering the heat that thing runs at Fitted oil cooler upgrade I hear that ztech do an upgrade........? any thoughts because I want to keep it auto (i have my reasons)
  19. Wow no improved oiling? shift patterns, oil cooler? just gears and shafts? Chris at what HP does the auto box become problematic, assuming oil cooler fitted? (Accept that it is 13 years old is probably greater threat than over egging the horses!)
  20. Listers, I believe this is no longer available to buy from HKS but can anyone shed any light on what you got for your $1,500????? Chris C
  21. Sorry 'import solutions' is the brand of converter which also de-limits the car too. I have had this one and no probs works great Chris C
  22. You need the US Cowlings and also indicator stalk (on opposite side) for around the wheel and then if you intend fitting after market wheel you need to modify the boss or you lose HICAS........... Chris
  23. I have the import solutions KPH to MPH which has worked faultlessly now, (de-limits the car too) for 1 year. Unlike my speed sensor ! Which failed and caused the usual power steering issue and autobox shifting problems
  24. It seems from many posts that the stock exhaust can cover up a thousand ills. When I dropped my exhaust last week to do all ths bushings it was clear that the back boxes will not last the winter and god only knows how much has collapsed inside. I reckon the back pressure could be way above stock now with all the collapsed baffles etc.. It seems that when people de-cat or change the exhaust the resulting drop in back pressure reveals what were either turbo seals that were shot or about to go anyway. I want a system with Hi-flow cats as my front pipes are not in good nick either, but am totally worried about my turbo seals. It is probably denial but does anyone have a good news story about this?
  25. Very interesting items here as it seems there are lots of ways to change the rear suspension:- IHMO From the facts generated so far we seemed to have learned the following about re-bushing / HICAS:- 1. The HICAS system, works in conjunction with the rubber mounted rear subframe they are each part one system. 2. Worn subframe bushes can be mostly felt as 'wheel hop' under power and general sloppiness with handling. 3. Those that have fitted urethane bushes seemed to have cured this. 4. Would probably be cured with stock bushes too but no seperate part number exists for these (the are only available as part of the arms themselves) However, Nismo upgraded ones are available as seperate items though through people such as:- http://www.courtesynissan.com 4. Various 'tuning' options exist for the Z rear before you even get into the usual uprated anti-roll (sway) bars, springs and dampers. a) Total HICAS elimination - HICAS Eliminator bars (various available), would also require stock or urethane rear subframe bushes to be changed to solid aluminium to achieve a fully rigid rear subframe. - Suitable for race / drag applications - Monster power applications b) Slight firming up of rear subframe with urethane bushes e.g. Energy suspension kit - Fast road work plus occasional track day - Moderate power c) Medium firming up of rear subframe with supplementary aluminium bushes (see link above) - Fast road plus regular track days - Higher power applications. d) Replacement of stock linkages with ones with integral bearings instead of urethane / rubber bushes - Adds adjustability too. Track / drift use. My conclusion is that HICAS Eliminator bars should be sold with solid bushes and the suppliers are missing a trick here.......... Energy Suspensions 'Master-bushing kit' needs supplementing with additional rear linkage bushings and Nismo front upper control arm bearings if you want to totally re-bush the suspension of your Z Chris C
