1. Do it in vinyl, mate - sorry, that should be vinyl matte, mate :D Here's his whole thread of how he did it Amazing and, if done well, very striking. (plus, being vinyl, you can get rid of it when you sell / change your mind) Don't know if this is the same guy Link is anybody know why I can't get these embedded YouTubes to work? I'm using the YouTube label in "Go Advanced"...
2. Good luck: I did the same for my old Mk3 Midget, MG Turbo and Ghia Capri - all gone to the scrappy in the sky  hope you find yours :)
3. Don't know if "SORN not due" means it is currently SORNed or currently licenced (so it doesn't need SORN). Sorry. But it looks as if someone cares enough so there's hope. Ask the ZClub guys, they'll know if it's on their radar. Or ask Mr F!
4. The problem with the DVLA figures is they are wrong! The only way to get it right is to look at the Chassis number and decode from that. I once nearly got them to do a run on that basis for the club but they stopped replying and I had to get on and earn a living! If anyone can persuade them to filter, the relevant chassis nos are here: http://www.300zxtt.co.uk/bandbchassisnos.htm The figs on the page given at the top of the thread don't include Fairlady but if you go to the DVLA page referenced on the How Many Left site, you can get the raw data (sadly no chassis nos) from which you can filter as Q4 2010 Licensed NISSAN 300 ZX TURBO 251 NISSAN 300 ZX 2+2 AUTO 53 NISSAN 300 ZX 2+2 215 NISSAN 300 ZX TURBO AUTO 106 NISSAN 300 ZX 2+2 TURBO 49 NISSAN FAIRLADY TURBO 92 NISSAN 300 ZX 2+2 TURBO AUTO And not forgetting SORN NISSAN 300 ZX TURBO 257 NISSAN 300 ZX 2+2 214 NISSAN 300 ZX TURBO AUTO 112 NISSAN 300 ZX 2+2 AUTO 94 NISSAN 300 ZX 2+2 TURBO 73 NISSAN FAIRLADY TURBO 34 NISSAN 300 ZX 2+2 TURBO AUTO 1 Licensed = 766, SORNed = 785 And I guess that means I've got 0.26% of all the licensed 300ZX/Fairladies on the road, would anyone like 0.13% in Blue? (And don't forget that Fairlady applied to all JDM Zeds not just Z32s)
5. Someone's still taxing it: The vehicle details for A477 WMB are: Date of Liability 01 10 2011 Date of First Registration 08 06 1984 Year of Manufacture 1984 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2753CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status SORN Not Due Vehicle Colour RED Go to vehicle enquiry on the left on this page http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/ Have you asked at the ZClub?
6. The original or too much plastic? wayyy too much plastic nice and modern overdoing the widebody And just, well, thanks but no thanks Now don't get yer knickers in a twist, of course there are several Zeds where mods have improved the looks or made them more original for their owners or created stunning show cars. But improving on the Mona Lisa takes a bit more than whanging on a bit of eBay plastic or getting a spray can out. :devil2:
7. Having had both specs of rear lights on both dark and light cars, here's my 2pworth. The big and, let's face it, a tad lardy rear end does require suitable design to make it look lower and sharper than it is. (OK, loads of people do love a big booty but there are limits.) Nissan did this by having lots of horizontal line cues (not just on the back but also on the swage lines, charcoal strip on the front bumper etc etc). An essential part of these were the long thin rear lights. Do anything other than this and the back looks fatter. And even when they went to the clear 99 spec indicators, they pinstriped them for the same reason. I haven't yet seen any treatment of the rear end that makes it look as low and sleek as the orginal. The colour of the car makes a difference to 99 specs. If you have a dark car, then the darker appearance of the early red / amber lights with the dark interior surround matches better. Bright silvery things stand out like a sore thumb. The stealth treatment looks stunning on darker or black cars. For lighter cars - especially silver or white - the 99 spec lights are a much better match. But it is not a "one size fits all".
8. Hopefully both of those 240s show Datsun/Nissan can do beautiful long-lasting design. Amazombi's is the blue one and more pics on Zclub. The black one was featured in Japanese Performance and is a cracking example of modern updating (I actually prefer Amazombi's - it's more street and less track). I hope the Z32 is going to have the same design longevity and so far so good. I think if you look at other cars from the late '80s/early 90s, you can see the Z is something special.
9. Should have said "oi, mother-in-law, don't be so rude about Midgets" :surrender: Now, where can I find a nice :offtopic: pic of a widebody Capri... or even the Zakspeed one
10. And don't be so rude about Midgets! SMT 77F, where are you now? I've only got a crap pic of mine, so here's a much nicer one with a Lenham nose/body (body kits didn't start with Z32s, you know :D ) Mine had a Lenham front end as well. Happy days. Curvy front, droop nose, classic coupe profile - remind you of anything?
11. Yes, we're all biased. No, I don't think Z32s look old-fashioned. It's pretty much a design classic. If the looks have lasted since 1990 already... Just take a look at the 240Z. Old fashioned or timeless design? And, IIRC, they're just celebrating 50 years of the E-Type. Yes, it's a car "of its period" but still as gorgeous as ever. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13644044 And, even as an ex-Capri owner, much as I liked my 2.0 Ghia, I don't think it holds a candle to either the 240Z or the 300ZX.
12. Why are all the best zedders born in June :D:happybday:
13. 666? He doesn't look a day over 500 :D Happy birthday to the king of bling :clown:
14. Merry 7th of June, matey :clown:
15. Try the fault code diag here http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/tech/autodiag/autodiag.html
16. Yes, that's right. If you think about it, the keeper of the old vehicle and the keeper of the new one need to change the registration number of each of the cars. The old one needs to replace the one you've just bought off it and the new one (yours) needs to get the new one. That means both V5Cs and both MOTs need changing to get the new numbers they both need. It's obvious if you follow it through (or have done it before).
17. It's a doddle. The bloke you are buying from needs to complete the form and you also need to sign it. Actual procedure is here http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/PersonalisedRegAndNumberPlates/DG_4022575 and the form is here http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/@motor/documents/digitalasset/dg_069390.pdf
18. Thanks gents. Off home in 9.5mins (not that I'm counting) and on a promise of pizza and bubbly!
19. Sudesh - one for your garage? The things you can do with an Epson, these days  Here's the original - not a bad replica, isn't it? Next pic gives the game away... Very impressed. Here's the Googly-translated page with more pics. http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.epson.jp%2Fnakajima%2Fspecial%2Frealsize_nsx%2Findex.htm&sl=ja&tl=en
20. Oh sorry about that. TwinTurbo is well worth joining (no charge) as there is soooo much tech info, FAQs etc. One guy there claims the root cause is removing the stock airbox http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=general&msg_id=2393966&forum=general&dtSearch=11 They do have a thing they call the "Goose Honk Killer" http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=technical&msg_id=837615&forum=technical&dtSearch=0 and http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=classified&msg_id=150343&forum=classified&dtSearch=7 http://bde-performance.com/goose.htm hope these links work.
21. Here you go - link to a movie on this page http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=general&msg_id=2310694&forum=general&dtSearch=52 And loads more here http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnetsearch/search.aspx?forum=general Seems (and I'm no techy) to happen when you have higher booost than stock with stock recircs.
22. The resistor bypass is only a temporary fix. Now if you get detting, the ECU won't know about it and you could do expensive damage. If you don't want to fix the det sensor where Nissan put it, you can always stick it on a stud at the rear of the engine. Mr F's got stock. Here's a how-to http://www.angelfire.com/geek/vg30dett/DSR/DetSenRel01.html And another one with more choices as to location. http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/forums/technical/view/786419/TECH-Detonation-Sensor-Relocation.html
23. 6th June clearly a fine bunch of chaps with birthdays :D

25. Thanks chaps - a lot of us about in June, looks like :) (God I hate having birthdays on Mondays... oh well, only 7 hours til I get home:pint: )
