Top end refresh.
BDE VTC pullies New fuel pressure regulator and fuel dampener. Other reasons behind this are the fact that last year I had an injector start to fail which was replaced. I'm still on the original ones so I'm on borrowed time with them and they have never been calibrated so they're going to be junked in favour of much more modern and reliable pintless injectors. Since I want to futureproof and add performance, the obvious choice were 740 NISMO injectors. There are lower flow rate ones but the price difference was so small it made no sense to go for the 615s. Because the 740s are a 'new style' injector, they won't fit my standard harness which really needs replacing anyway. As a number of OE harnesses have already been discontinued, I thought it wise to invest in a new genuine one whilst I could (they're better quality than the WS ones)! I went for the 95+ as there are a few minor improvements that were made, the deleting of the nasty series 2 PTU 'bodge' harness, the change from a permanent positive feed to the injectors to a switched one, some addition plastic harness casing and the fact that it was all ready for the new style injectors. No point in butchering a new 91 harness! This thread should become a little more interesting as I start to get parts back from the platers and built up the throttle housings etc.

Top end refresh.
The process to clean up and freshen up the appearance of the top end of my engine has begun. Prior to fitting a new OEM 95+ harness, 740cc injectors and BDE VTC cam gears, I have gotten hold of a bunch of spare odds and sods to get refinished. My engine is pretty clean anyway but as the entire top end is being stripped down, I thought it high time to make everything totally fresh and new-looking before reassembly. I've just picked up these from the vapour blaster, they're going straight to the powder coaters tomorrow to be done OEM finish, well, apart from the outer rocker covers as they're a natural alloy finish and I'll be doing those a satin silver just for some added protection. They came up pretty well. The intake manifold is at the vapour blasters now and will be being coated in ACF50 prior to me collecting it. The spare throttle housings will be heading there as soon as a I've finished stripping them. The donor ones I've got are in decent condition, just absolutely filthy. I've taken one apart to look at the rather nasty brown finish on the throttle return springs. It appears these springs are actually nickel plated, I've removed some of the finish here but they'll be going to the vapour blasters to remove all traces of it. There are a number of other springs which will be going there too. All the steel pressings which make up the throttle mechanism will be removed and will be going to the electroplaters to be refinished in a smart cadmium plate which feature on 95+ Z32s and look a little cleaner than the nasty standard olive drab. I actually have quite a few other metal pressings and various fasteners at the electroplaters which I'm collecting tomorrow such as the hose unions on the intake manifold, the throttle cable brackets and various assorted bolts and harness clips. As I have a 95+ harness, I need to fit the newer style crank angle sensor. I picked a used one up in the US and partially stripped it. The main bracket and the back plate are being vapour blasted and will be anodised silver to match the face of the sensor which I had to paint as the bearing is pressed in. It gave me the opportunity to follow the how2 on TT. NET to clean the sensor ring. There was no debris inside, so the unit is in very decent shape. This wondrous hose turned up from Japan today. New old-stock which you can't buy from Nissan anymore, this part has been NLA for as long as I can remember! Here's the other U-shaped one which routes from the offside intake union to the check valve, again, this has been NLA for years A few of the new parts: OEM 95+ harness 740cc NISMO injectors + SpecialtyZ map

User name change?
Since it now appears to be fashionable for folk to want to change their user name, should I change mine to 'SimonP' as used on various other non-Z or non-Nissan related forums? Funkysi was part of a stupid email address (now defunct) that I had when 'Hotmail' as it was then known as burst onto then scene in 1996 whilst I was still at college and people were using all sorts of stupid and retarded usernames, so maybe it's still befitting and relevant. - - - Updated - - - I bet slickpete will vote the 3rd one. - - - Updated - - - Hahahaha and he has!

What do you think drove last month's boom in registrations? That's a 140% up over last month and well over 300% over November 2017.

Power coating throttle housings
Prior to my new 95 harness and 740cc injector upgrade, I'm refinishing everything I can on the top half of the engine. Loads of fasteners, hose unions and fuel rails are at the platers, spare rocker covers are going to be vapour blasted and powder coated a satin silver and satin black as per original, I'm getting a spare intake manifold and throttle assembly vapour blasted to look like new and may dismantle some of the fixings to get plated although not sure I want to take apart the entire assembly. Has anyone had their throttle housings powder coated with the bearings still in situ? I'm guessing that the seals could be damaged and grease in the bearings ruined however I don't know how hardy the bearings are and whether they can take to the oven (200 degrees) and come out all ok. Has anyone been successful with this? I'd rather not have to take the throttle housings and carrier bar apart if I can get away with it. I want the lot satin-clear powder coated to preserve the finish a little.

Meetings and events areas
Totally agree with that. We don't have the regional numbers to sustain those. Long gone were the days were a 'South West' area meet would attract 20-30 cars. We're lucky to get that at a national meet. Nothing to do with the club, purely down to numbers of cars left.

Opinions on the MeisterR coilover kits
Looks like they've change the product name. Best bet is to email them : info@meisterr.co.uk they always respond. I got a lighter load spring for mine. 6kg front and 4kg rear from memory. They're basically what they'd spec if you had a SWB. I forget now though.

Well that is the point of stiffening up the dampers.....

Opinions on the MeisterR coilover kits
Both JoelyP and myself have Meister R Zeta S coilovers and they're very good and compliant for UK roads. Their finish can be questionable. I had the springs powdercoated black as their standard finish flakes off fairly easily. Providing you keep them clean and oiled, they'll be fine. I had Tein S Tech previously which were much more crashy. BC Racing and Buddy Club etc are much much harder. Good for track use, but not road use so much, you're better off with the Meisters.

Mmm... and it looked so good at first
Richard/Jeff, it's a non-standard colour for a UK car.

Hardly surprising it's suffered a rusty history; a 160,000 mile UK car in the wrong colour. One of the main reasons I avoided UK cars when I bought mine back in the mid-2000s (that and the hideous amount of miserable bodykitted wonders). Even then a lot I was coming across were starting to turn into the ferrous ore from whence they came. Jap spec cars are catching up to that level of corrosion now too in extreme cases.

Gearbox year check
They shouldn't be different year-to-year. Only gearbox differences were 98+ (syncros) and European gearboxes which had holes drilled for cooler pipework. Where did you find this information?

Blue Door Mirror Glass - From A Nissan Maxima
Yes I did and looked at this a few years ago. ;) Blue mirror glass was fitted to Maximas with auto-dimming rear view mirrors. Unfortunately that model with that option was only fitted to late spec models in the UK and they're practically non existent. What you have is LHD mirror glass which has opposite convex to RHD, so will give you odd perspective when fitted to RHD cars.

Off to ZCon and ZNationals.
Haha yes. Just haven't been on interwebs all that much. Having a great time. Drive down from Cleveland in Ohio to Atlanta was great. My car for the week is a 2009 370z Nismo. Whilst it's no Z32, it looks great and gets plenty of attention. ......edit...meh having issues uploading. Yet more server errors. I'll try again when I'm back in England. Opening ceremony was awesome with various speeches from Nissan USA and the ZCCA with rare unseen film footage from the Atlanta ZCon from 1995 when Mr K attended. This evening I've been driving a brand new 6.0 Nissan Titan which is an absolute monster. John Moreton's 300zx race car is sat in the lobby and he himself will be taking it around Road Atlanta racing circuit on Friday. They auctioned a 3 lap ride along for charity at the opening ceremony which hit the dizzying heights of $3,500. Some utterly stunning Z32s at today's ZCCA judged car show. I spent the afternoon at Z1 picking up new BDE VTC cam pulleys plus spent some time with Bernie Bilski (TT.net guys will know who he is) and had some fascinating conversations with him as well as pick up my brand new OEM 95 wiring harness and 740cc injectors. Nice haul of car parts accumulating in my hotel room. Sorry about the photos or lack-of!

Off to ZCon and ZNationals.
Currently somewhere up over northern England heading to Reykjavik to catch a connecting flight to Cleveland in Ohio. I'm there to pick up a fairly new 370z Nismo owned by the president of the Z Car Club Association of America. Tomorrow will be the long drive down to Atlanta for this year's ZCon and ZNationals double event which should be HUGE. Sadly, Yama San, chief designer of our beloved Z32 who I met at last year's event in Austin has had to pull out, but there's plenty more awesomeness. Nissan have shipped over the only road going version of its awesome R390, a car I saw at Nissan's Heritage Museum near Tokyo back in March. I also belive the GTP ZX-Turbo is also going to be on display. Nissan corporate in the US and Japan alike really go to town when supporting the enthusiast base, something the rest of the world sadly lacks. I'll try and post up photos of this. I said that last time when I went to Japan and still haven't gotten round to it yet!

My on going project
Yeah they should 40 profile for the front.

Can anyone tell me what these are please.
They're not Nissan OEM parts. They're aftermarket something or other, I've never seen them before. Probably not worth keeping. Potentially recirc delete plugs.
