  1. Mine is via a hidden switch in the kick panel, but I like the idea of wiring it directly into the front fog switch - if that's legal. I don't see any reason why it should be. I switch out a bit of loom and a bulb holder for one of my rear fogs at MOT time as it's a converted reverse light. I have more use for 2 reverse lights than having a fog light that I never use....
  2. Having driven both extensively (an auto in the US and manual over here), without doubt the manual is my own preference; it's more fun, it sounds better on run down and on gear change (especially down-shift), it's more controllable, the residuals are stronger and there's less to go wrong.
  3. It's a turd! I wouldn't go near that with a barge pole, sorry. Terrible quality.
  4. Wrap up warm chaps - it's going to reach the dizzy heights of about 7 degrees tomorrow!
  5. As above - that's based on stripping the car yourself.
  6. The year was 1990 - in the road next to my parents' sat a brand new pearl yellow Z32. Occasionally on my way home from school I'd see it come flying up the hill. I was transfixed and fell in love with the car instantly. From then on I knew I wanted one one day. Wind the clock forward 10 years, fresh out of uni, I started work for the Ministry of Defence and moved to Malvern in Worcestershire, one of the scientists on the site had a red one and decided then that I should start looking for one. I struggled to find a nice one and didn't get mine until 2005. I love the car just as much as I did then, probably more so as it's become like an old friend. Through the thick and thin in life, it's always been there to raise a smile, it's also been a great social thing too and a real hobby and has resulted in some awesome friendships being forged from all over the world. I could never sell it.
  7. Only in weight. There should be no noticeable difference in handling, they do exactly the same thing.
  8. The Skyline system is rather different as it uses all the information you suggested to control its active AWD system and suspension. R34 onward. It uses a separate computer to that of the HICAS. The early and old style HICAS found in the Z32 are pretty much identical, it's only by way of actuation where they differ. The main brains are similar, if not the same and do not measure yaw, g-rate, speed at which the steering wheel is being turned or any of that. They take a speed input from the dash and one from the steering angle which is taken from the HICAS sensor found behind the steering wheel. All the other stuff you mentioned is all stuff collected in a separate systems on the R34+ models of the Skyline.
  9. Hasn't been confirmed yet - police will release details once the next-of-kin has been informed. Very recent news. - - - Updated - - - ....and apparently his publicist has now confirmed! Damn! 2016 is the year for death it would seem!
  10. Have a tune when you up the boost, not really worth it with SMICs which don't aid performance as such. The performance increase will come from increased boost. SMICs and the tune are the supporting modifications for that.
  11. Joel did nothing as does need regular antenna. I fitted an aerial to the rear windscreen where the old squirter would go. It's quite fiddly and to be honest, not really worth it.
  12. You said they turn in opposite direction at low speed manoeuvrability, that is not the case! LOL
  13. Incorrect AGAIN! The low-speed design was a Honda parking aid, it is not HICAS which operates at speeds of 40mph or so and above and is a stability aid.
  14. The only thing you're likely to hear is wastegate chatter.
  15. Just take your time and don't be too abrasive, plenty of soapy water, smooth motions. By the looks of it, you've got enough lacquer on there not to be that worried! lol
  16. Much better, but you're still laying it on a little thick I think, especially on that door. I'm sure it'll work out though when you colour sand it.
  17. Looks good! I was wondering whether you were going to paint it some vile colour or colour code it - but that looks really clean and slick!
  18. Unless someone's fitted a switch, no. They take a pulse from the HU. You can try popping the connector in the boot and running 12v through it.
  19. Wouldn't listen to him. His favourite Z32 on the forum is a white Z32 shorty on 19s....he 'hates' white and 'hates' 19s. ;)
  20. I think I'm just turning into AndrewG!
  21. Yeah, well I'm gradually going back to stock....well, not too much. All the mechanical upgrades and wheels are staying, as are all the brand new OEM parts of course, I've changed the interior to a series 2 and prefer it, it's much quieter too. Just some smaller detail like the wiper arm, spoiler and aerial to do and that's it really. Spoiler isn't going to be OEM though, but a TwinZ Type 1 like Joel's. - - - Updated - - - ....no, not sure I do remember! lol
  22. Indeed - a stupid mistake. My mind wasn't on the job at the time as I was going through a messy relationship breakup! Regretted it ever since (and the relationship)!
  23. Ted, that's the wrong sander, not surprised you're getting grooves and gouges under the paint. That's for sanding wood and flat panelling, it will mess up anything with curves. You need a rotary or orbital sander with a foam pad and a wide head to cope with gradient changes. Looks like you have waaayyy too much paint on there too.
  24. I've driven all - turbos beat ALL!
