Simply japanese 2016!!!
I reckon going in a little earlier would be much better. Means an earlier start, but that's better than being sat in the worst queue. I think a few people had clutch issues last time as a result!

Beaulieu is a great day out for all. It's just the right size in beautiful settings.

So...what have I missed ?
Hahaha! Dave is back! Have you still got your slicktop then? You've moved house, so I assume it's moved gardens too! :)

Paint. Where did I go wrong.
There are sealer paints you can apply, but that won't help your cellulose stand up to weathering and it won't prevent other issues should you get moisture in the paintwork. If you haven't got access, why don't you just bite the bullet and take your bonnet to a body shop. Prep it yourself and take in.

Paint. Where did I go wrong.
Cellulose is where you went wrong. It has all the strength of a runny turd. It weathers really easily especially on surfaces that get pretty hot and then cool. It will always shrink a little and will never retain the shine even after waxing. Cellulose is 'ok' as a short term fix on smaller items, but not on anything of size. The white marks could be a number of things from water under the surface to a reaction to something else. Did you use panel wipe and paint it inside on a dry day?

300ZX vs Supra - a final verdict
I love the look of the FD, but never been a fan of the sound of a rotary engine. Modified ones sound like a giant fart on idle and don't sound much better under heavy load.

Car finally to get back on road
If it doesn't need rebuilding, then change the belts, all fluids including brake fluid, clean up every single engine connector and start it.

What did you do to your zed today?
Steering wheel please before Mondo gets his grubby mitts on it!

Underside tray covering the brake lines (?)
Looks like CZP still have some, might be worth asking: https://conceptzperformance.com/nissan-oem-300zx-fuel-line-protector-z32-22-17575-32p00_p_7905.php

What did you do to your zed today?
Hahahaha! Same with me. I have a nice freshly powdercoated fuel line, new OEM bolts and new OEM rubber hoses to go on - but my motivation is lacking today!

Another dead Zed :-(
So sorry to see that dude! You and I joined around the same time! Not too sure what to say other than 'at least you walked away'. :(

QH water pump
I can't comment on your particular pump, but was there any reason you didn't go for an OEM unit?

300ZX vs Supra - a final verdict
Yes and it was also the end of an era for big RWD Japanese GT cars.

300ZX vs Supra - a final verdict
I thought the F&F films were all pretty cheesy and silly. I've never liked the F&F franchise. I think the acting is moderate at best, the story lines awful and most of the cars looked nasty. Never understood their popularity if I'm honest. F&F came out in 2001 when I was 22, so it's not an age thing....I just think they're crap.

300ZX vs Supra - a final verdict
That's because the Z naturally is a better looking car and looks better without any bodykit whatsoever. TBH, only subtle stuff works on Supras too as they start looking like something out of the F&F if they have too much stuff glued to them.

300ZX vs Supra - a final verdict
This is the best 300zx and Supra photo. They do look awesome together. 300 for me looks better. The rear end is the Supra's best aspect, whereas the Z32 looks good from almost every angle.

300ZX vs Supra - a final verdict
Part of 'better' is subjective. If we're talking looks, it really isn't. The Z32 is, IMO, far nicer looking, but that's a personal preference. Where the Supra does excel over the Z32 is its mechanicals. The 2JZ isn't my choice of engine, but it is an extremely strong engine and modifying it is not only cheaper, but the output is substantially higher. Handling is not better than the Z32, it's on par with, although I don't like the way the Supra 'feels', but that probably has more to do with the cabin environment than anything else. The Supras higher price comes in part to the lower production volumes, the higher purchase cost and the fact that it's quite a bit newer. That's not really to do with being 'hyped', more to do with economies of scale. Having said that, there are a LOT on ebay, more than the Z32, but production numbers were substantially less than the Z32 (globally). In the US, they're worth twice as much as they are over here, the gap is far wider. 'Hype' is something altogether different. The Delorean DMC-12 for example is a hyped car - but it's also a bit of a turd. Scrappy handling, dire V6 Renault engines and less-than-favourable build quality.

300ZX vs Supra - a final verdict
It does look nice, I'll grant you that, but it just doesn't set my world on fire. Nice seats by the way. You are joking, right? The Supra is one of the most hyped up cars in recent Japanese automotive history. That's part-in-thanks to the F&F films. It's far more distinguishable to the average-Joe than a Z32 ever will be, but that's why I like the Z32, no one knows quite what it is.

300ZX vs Supra - a final verdict
Similar. I like the Supra, however as a design-piece, it just doesn't tick the boxes (for me anyway). I think the dash is awful and looks like something out of a Scania truck, you mentioned the vents, you know my opinion on vents that don't do much or anything, it looks like a jellybean The I-6T sounds good, but it doesn't sound exotic like the V6T. They're impressive machines though and are advanced over the Z32, for obvious reasons, but in terms of visuals, I much prefer the MK3 Supra and the classic Celica-Supra prior to that. If I was to do a build involving the Supra name, it would be a MK3 Supra aerotop with a 2JZ motor. :) Best of both worlds - these seem to have aged more gracefully I think and have a timeless appeal like the Z32, something the MK4 just doesn't have for me.

Let's talk turbos...
I'm a big fan of Power Enterprise turbos. I've driven a couple of Z32s with them. I think they were PE1420s and I simply loved the way they developed boost. Progressive with virtually no lag on them. When I replace mine, whenever that'll be, I think I'll go for PE1420s. Fantastic turbos for a street car and keep the essence of the original fast-spool power delivery there. For me, it's not about chasing numbers, it's about response and drivability.

Underside tray covering the brake lines (?)
Gary, are you talking about this part? Part 13 is 1757532P00, it's listed as discontinued I'm afraid.
