RX7 value?...
Hi guys, If this isn't suitable for here then let me know! My friend has an RX7 which he has owned from new, 1998, 40k miles, manual, Twin Turbo, white, no rot etc.. Hasn't been started in 6 years as he has been away with the Army. Currently needs a new clutch so isn't driveable, but he has offered it to me and I can't quite put my finger on how much it would be worth... Currently sits in spain as he was living out there for a short while, but is registered in the UK still. will cost me £500 to get it back here, but am wondering whether it is worth bringing it back and restoring it or selling it on as is :s... A few years ago these would have been worth 5k pretty easily, but these days the market seems pretty weak, but seeing as there are not many with that low miles etc it may be a gen for someone?... Best, William.

Head Unit/carputer Ideas and opinions
I was in halfords a couple of days ago and they had some half price head units which looked really smart - loved the double dull screen ones, but then got back in my zed and realied I would have to start chopping up the dash to fit it :( .. Apparently there are kits which is so tempting! http://www.300zxclub.com/images/dto_garage/users/92843/4140.jpg

Head Unit/carputer Ideas and opinions
I've been wondering similar things recently - what I thought would be cool is a tablet (apple or itunes) set into the dash which is locked to bespoke software, working as a media player and car diagnostics! I'm working as an app developer at the moment and don't see this being too crazy - it must have beeen done before I imagine.

Lots of white smoke when revving engine
No that's fair Mark, just think I would have been a bit too disheartened by now and would be concerened about other things going after a tonne for £££ being thrown at it... But hey, all part of the fun!

Lots of white smoke when revving engine
Hey. Just had a skim through the thread, sounds like a stressfull situation man! Feel sorry for ya. If I were you at this point I would be driving it for a few hundrore, see if it settles down at all, and if not then I would sell it and cut my losses... When something starts turning into a money pit I find it hard to stay attached to it as it gets too stressfull... Just my 2 cents. All the best,

gearbox grind when pulling away 1st and 2nd
Good morning all. So this seems to be getting worse I think over the last week... In first and second when pulling away at low revs and when the clutch is fully engaged, there is a kind of grinding sound coming from the gearbox area. If pootling about it first around a carpark I can definitely hear this loud grind at around 1 - 2k rpm, above that it isn't noticable though. Any ideas? It isn't clutch related, nor is it a rattle of a heatshield as you can hear and kind of weel it directly related to when you are driving with the gear and clutch engaged. Any ideas? - gearbox oil time perhaps? Or center bearing or something like that? On other news - misfire has stopped for the past week! Wohoo. Best, william.

ticker over rpm have gone a bit hight
You guys should definitely video documents your "good and bad" 300zx demonstration, would love to listen in! :p mine is also idling a bit high so will be following similar steps!
-
oil usage or oil level?
Oil Pressure, I think it should be just above 4 when you first start the car, then once the oil warms it should settle to below 4 on tick over and will change with the revs slightly. If you ever see it drop off to zero then stop the engine straight away! :P

RHD to LHD
Oops that's what comes of reading the forums whils I'm still asleep.

RHD to LHD
As bolt mentioned, if importing from Japan then you won't need to convert it, japs are RHD. Would love to see what's available from there though in terms of late models! They are as rare as hens teeth here. Think I have seen 1 99spec import for sale here in 4 years!

My first Z arrives tomorrow!

body pannels / rear arches.
Hi Rich, I had to have my arches rebuilt on a prelude year due to rust... I had a few quotes for rebuilds around 1000, and then a great guy in ringwood who rebuilt both rear arches and resprayed my front bumper for £250. They were rebuilt using fiberglass and finished very well. Not sure I would do it on a 300 but worked well on my £1300 prelude. Can you go to a breakers yard with a cutter and take some? - there is a breakers in winchester specialising in 300s.

TT regular Idle misfire - but no smoke & runs great (video)
So this morning she was misfiring, went out for lunch and it cleared up! So inconsistent I can't attribute it to one thing...

TT regular Idle misfire - but no smoke & runs great (video)
That's for the info, I will check that this week. Is it ok to pull the power from the coils while the engine is on? I don't know if this is related or normal behaviour but if I sit at idle and touch the accellerator with the slightest pressure the minimum amount of change I can get is from 1 krpm to 2k rmp.. As it it jump to 2, and I can't get it to hover inbetween these numbers,... Whether this is normal or whether this may indicate sticky injectors or something I don't know?...

TT regular Idle misfire - but no smoke & runs great (video)
Hi Jimmer, thanks for the input - I know from the video it looks like just an instable idle, but when you are around by the exhausts you can feel the gaps in exhaust gas when the miss occurs?... And it very much sounds like a miss on a cylinder or two rather than a hunting or general low tickover sounds, as sometimes it can tick over fine and low revs and sounds smooth... I'll try and get a sound file of the exhausts tomorrow with my big camera! :)

loose gear stick and grinding noise
Thanks for the info guys! Haha love the quotes, funny you should mention hobbies, I used to have a girlfriend but not seen her in a while now!.... :p. Think I'll be hearing about that pretty soon. The gearbox is bloody lovely now! New bushes have made it so tight! The old ones were.. Well there weren't any! Also those gaskets were the noise cause.. One of them was back to front! And that was Nissan themselves putting that together after a clutch replacement!! Pffft. I'll have a look through that manual soon thanks!

So which connectors are the injectors and which are the coils?... I can see the 5 directly on top of the block and the 6th is a bit hidden. But I thought that was a coil connector coming from the PTU...
