First Paint coat. And I am now out of paint so back to the shop this week. I could have probably spent another 3 hours sanding but it wasn't worth it for the sake of this exercise seeing as I will probably keep the Zed soilerless for now anyway :p One bit where I I had a bit of build up of paint which was before I worked my technique out.. It seems that with long arm movements you need to start and stop spraying with each movement so to get an even finish. One more coat and some lacquer should look good enough for what I need it for :) p

sanding/respraying spoiler today (photos)
Well it doesn't need to be forever, it is an experiment :) and pretty much ANYTHING would be better than what was on it. ..plus it isn't a foamy so fingers crossed! So sanding complete, hands destroyed, spoiler drying and ready for primer shortly :)

my new baby is to loud for me
Ahh yeah I almost bought that one I think. If you can get a sound clip of yours then I would potentially be interested in sorting a deal out if you were interested as mine are too quiet :p ... Stock pipes with japspeed backboxes - - - Updated - - - Ps. Looks very smart! Has had a full respray if it is the same one I am thinking of.

Haha really? Why is that?... It isn't an old foamy spoiler it is a 4th series plastic one?...

.. You can see how disgusting the paint had gone, it had bubbled in the sun so it looked like my car was diseased!!

sanding/respraying spoiler today (photos)
Hi everyone, So I am tarting my Zed up whilst I look for a diesel and decide if I can afford to run both cars (I think it should be ok!), and this weekend tackled the mangled spoiler. The previous owner resprayed it by hand without primer etc and it looked sick (the bad kind of sick opposed to the young kids meaning of the word). The paint was bubbling and to make matters worse he didn't remove it first so the overspray onto the boot was tragic. I got some cutting compound and have removed all the overspray and the car is now minus a spoiler (and looking very HOT). Plugged the holes temporarily with some carbon style vinyl wrap... Very tempted to keep it with teh spoiler removed but we will see. Stage 2 is the respray.. Started today armed with a sander, 60 grit paper and some 400 wet and dry. along with plastic grey primer and a metallic black paint and lacquer. Here are some photos of teh progress so far (2 hours). I will update later with my progress :) Keep in mind this is a complete experiment. If it fails then I have a replacement spoiler lined up, but wanted to try it myself as I have never done any respraying and am intrigued to know how well (or not) it works.

Tie rod end bushing or upgrade tension rod?
Ahh course good call :)

Tie rod end bushing or upgrade tension rod?
Hello everyone, So when investigating my Zed pulling to the left we found that the tie rod end bushings have worn out.. My mechanic can replace teh bushings which he said would be the cheapest options but I can't find any bushing for Sale on their own? anyone know a supplier where I can buy just a couple instead of a full set etc? Otherwise I may as well just buy the full tension arm, which brings me to my next question.. Is it worth upgrading tension arms? I know there are some Tien ones I could pick up and replace the whole arm and have allegedly performance enhancements for responsiveness/stiffness? Best, William.

car pulling left
yep mine does that too... tracking being done next week so we will see! I am betting that it won't make a difference :(

Front near side air leak?
ah yeah think I had seen that, I will get the air leak fixed up and then if it doesn't solve it look into the Maf :)
-
Front near side air leak?
Great thanks buddy!

Front near side air leak?
The mechanic is coming over next week to do some testing on the Vac system, I was just bored and wanted to rule out the coilpacks being the culprit!... Which I think that does seeing as they were firing smooth as anything without the maf meanign it is probably not an electrical issue, but instead a vac leak issue etc causing incorrect/inconsistent fuel/air mixing.

Front near side air leak?
Hello guys! OK so I unplugged the MAF and it sat at a touch over 1k perfectly without any hesitation or rough idle / misfire! What would this mean?.. does this suggest the vac leak is the root cause or is it an issue with my MAF?... Best, William.

new long commute, may have to trade..
hmm so far classic insurance is looking like it is for UK cars only :(

new long commute, may have to trade..
I can potantially car share with my boss but that's unreliable as he does ridiculous hours and is quite often away for meetings. I'll check that insurance company out thanks John - I am 25 so hopefully now over the threshold for a classic policy :)

new long commute, may have to trade..
Hi guys! Thanks for the info! Interesting about the compensation, didn't know that and will have to look into it. Either way I wouldn't want to drive the Zed even with fuel compensated as it would rack up the miles. Mine is a 1994, is it possible to still get a classic policy if insuring it as a second vehicle? As that is what the hardest bit would be financially I think. I will try and keep it, I have lists of how I can save money on what eat each month haha. Thanks for the info so far! :)

new long commute, may have to trade..
Hey everyone! I have had some pretty crappy news today, work is having to do a relocation due to issues with our office and it is going from a very short cycle ride away, to a 2 hour daily commute :( I have been trying to work out how to tackle it most ecomonically and just can't make the monthly finances work running the zed for it. I think it is going to have to be the purchase of a deisel run around at the expense of my baby Z... :( I have already invested a lot in her since picking it up last month and was expecting to be keeping it for good but this has really snuck up and thrown all my plans out the window. If I can work any other way out then I will, but in the meantime I think I am going to have to put her up for sale :'( gutted doesn't even start to cover it! Best, William.
