  1. My Jap import speedo is about 3-8% out with the usual mph conversion. According to my Road Angel 2
  2. I keep cutting myself when i work under my car. Standard 300zx car jack only goes so high with a brick underneath it and just fitting under my zed that is 5" of the ground.
  3. Shopping around for tyres and i ordered some Falken 451 245\45\16, Y speed rating for £65 each inc VAT + £10 delivery per pair. Got them from http://www.falkentyres.co.uk. I will pay on top of that for fitting and balancing Good deal i thought :)
  4. I got a Compaq Small..ish P3 1ghz 512MB 120Gb HD custom spec for £120 for my carputer project. Worth thinking about
  5. With the laptop you get you need to be sure when it boots up it will output the video to the Video DSUB adaptor. As far as i know the laptop display fires up first then u press FN+ some function key to get the external video output working. If you have a particular laptop in mind PM me and i can try and check it out.
  6. Shutdown will be manual as well from the same power switch. I want to keep a manual carputer power switch so i dont have to worry about voltage wobble when the car starts up. Once i turn key, i use a finger on my right hand to press a little carputer power switch a second later. I may get a £60 APC mini 400VA UPS that could allow me to have auto power on and shutdown. But not to begin with.
  7. Myself my carputer will have a seperate power on swtich next to key ignition. Main thing i am worried about is that the hard disk does not get juddered to death as my car is lowered. A 2.5" laptop hard drive would be more resiliant to shocks but i would still think about some buffering.
  8. Ah i notice the swtich next to gear stick. I thought my fog light was a extra fitting. Took me 2 months before i realised it turned on the orange fog light duh.
  9. I have a simple looking alloy tube thing that is easy to grip.
  10. Jap imports are a good bet if your willing to spend £4000 - £6000 and wait 3 months. Dont think about trying to scrape enough money to buy a cheap one and then pray for good luck. A zed doing 250 miles a week can cost £5000 a year to run before exceptional maintenance. If the zed dream is for you come join the crazy gang :)
  11. I watched a Discovery program that showed the unique construction design of the twin towers meant if three floors collapsed it would create a domino effect and make the buildings collape in a cascading way. And the fireproofing was blown away. So if the planes hit say the empire state building it still would be standing. I dont beleive the video. Nice hookum but if such a plot got found out there would be close to civil war in USA. But there has been some wacky US generals. General McArthur who was otherwise a brilliant general and post war administrator of Japan, wanted to drop dozens of nukes on China in the 50's. He got the sack!

With a boost controller and stock everything else how much extra boost can you use before the possibility of damage is erm much more. And say i indulge this boost twice a week. Sounds vague sorry but im curious how much extra hp on a jap TT import i can get out of my engine.
  13. Not good, same colour and SWB like mine. Hope the chassis is not to bent :(
  14. You can get a decent 12V->240V inverter that is rated at '240W' for £30. More than plenty for a laptop.
  15. Indeed. I have a Compaq Proliant DL580 server in the loft that has 4 x Xeon processor - 4 hard drives, 16 memory DIMM's- two power supplies and is really good at heating my house! And its PSU is rated at 260W! Buy a cheapo '500W' PSU for £30 and it might wreck your hard disks from voltage drops - ive seen it happen to a mates PC.
  16. I have had the odd rare problem connecting to these forums over the past 2 months. But i salute the dudes running this mighty forum at the same time :)
  17. Dude you need to point the image to a web site like http://www.iamthedaddeh.com/images/missbigbaps.jpg[\IMG] etc
  18. Good to hear your legs are finally healing properly :)
  19. I got a new pair of steering rack bushes. The originals were not to my eye decayed at all. But i fitted a new one on the passenger side. Drivers side one was mission impossible for me.
  20. There has been lots talked about with zeds juddering. Mine does after 60mph. But all the juddering comes from the front of the car and the front wheels have bad negative camber with uneven tyre wear. Basically if it comes from the front does that rule out the prop shaft bearing being shot? I realised this week that my zed is lowered and has standard upper suspension links - not adjustable ones to get the camber to 0 degrees. I have ordered some adjustable ones from zcentre for zedworld to fit :)
  21. VW Polo G60. It has a supercharged engine. But an old car now.
  22. The Cortina looks wicked but to drive i bet its a death trap.
  23. Yup 2 months ago i floored it in 2nd at 30mph going up a wet straight road on a hill. Back end starting twitching left and right so i killed the power and it righted itself. I dont do anything fancy AT ALL in the wet now lol. But.. on a totaly empty roundabout in the wet sometimes i just nudge the car with a hard steer at a low speed to remind me that the car will loose it in the wet.
