  1. You have to reinstall all the programs. And an enthusiast gamer PC should have XP reinstalled every 12 months. With Windows you get this silt of settings that build up which makes it slow. Only thing to be done is to wipe the c: and reinstall windows from scratch. Hence why i have a 10GB c: for windows and essential apps and a d: for programs.
  2. I had been suffering with slight to huge judders from the front since i had my zed from last october. It got really bad in the past 2 months above 60mph. Last week i fitted adjustable front upper suspension links with a spirit level heh, and i think i got the camber bang on. But the ride was still awfull above 60mph. So today i got replacement Falken 451 ZR-Y's fitted on the front and by gum the difference is massive. The zed now rides as true as a bullet and well balanced. I feel like i have a new car lol. The chilling thing is that the negative camber was warping my tyres. I could have had a blow out. I did not realise now ruined my tyres were until i took them of the the first time myself 3 weeks ago. Terrified by the really uneven wear i got on the case and now they are sorted :hyper:
  3. Unless you fit your own speaker enclosures in the back you are limited to the power and bass you can have with 6x4 speakers in the rear. I have some decent Alpine speakers in the back but they cant develop the wallop that the front ones can.
  4. Erm well camber is an angle across the vertical. And there is toe that is an angle across the horizontal. I suppose toe would affect drifting to one side or another more than camber. Ive read on the forums that 1-2% negative camber is a good thing. Has anyone else got a more definitive answer?
  5. I got a pair of Falken 451 245\45\16 ZR-Y for £150 for the pair fromhttp://falkentyres.co.uk Fitting and balancing i pay extra, which will be £5 per tyre. I read good things about the 451's. Other good tyres are Toyo Proxes and Goodyear Eagles. What attracted me to the 451's is that they are suppoed to have better traction in the wet, they have two grooves running all around the tyre which i suppose would reduce aquaplaning effects. Like other zeders my car has front juddering. I think now mine is because my tyres are warped as i i had such bad negative camber on the front, on the inside of the tyre it had worn down to the steel mesh thingy and on the other side the tyre look almost new - not good! I fitted some adjustable front upper suspension links that allowed me to set neutral camber (with a spirit level!)
  6. I am very interested! I hope it has nice big run off areas!
  7. Get a well build lapotp - IBM, Toshiba, Compaq, avoid the lesser brands.
  8. I bet it drives like a brick too. The new Ford Mustang is really a dog.
  9. 5th gear at 50mph+ Are you having a giraffe? You only use 5th over 125mph when you rag it in a TT :smash:
  10. I have read some JPEGS on the net from a car mag that had a comparison between a 300ZX TT and a 944 Turbo. According to the review it was a dead heat in terms of performance. The 944 had a very hard ride and the 300ZX was rated as a top cruiser. Though thinking about it i dont think a 944 turbo can do 0-60 in 5 to 5.5 seconds. I did think about getting a 944 Turbo. A lot of parts that are for VAG vans u can use in a 944! But i loved the sheer street presence of the 300ZX. Id love a 928 S4 GTS but it would make my zed look cheap to run.
  11. Very nice wheels. Suits the aggressive look of the zed.
  12. Worst car fuse box i had was in an Alfa Romeo 164 - 25 fuses, 9 relays and all in Italian. Could not find a reference for what they were. And because the car was possesed i had to remove 3 relays else the car battery would die in no time.
  13. Dunno about traffic infomation. Not too interested in it myself. GPS signal is fine as long as it has clear line of sight to the skies. So with a USB extension lead will attach it to the top of the rear window. My jap import zed came with a full Sony GPS\TV system with 8" monitor. But its no use to me at all as it comes with a Japan data CD, cant find any other ones and all the buttons, manuals, remote controls are in Japanese lol. I would sell it on Japanese ebay but i cant find a Japanese to English converter website.
  14. Fusebox access is nothing compared to faffing around with engine and suspension stuff. Try changing the drivers side steering rack bush is less than 6 hours without going insane.
  15. I will use Microsoft Autoroute 2006. It can have a split window with a map and a lower window of turn by turn directions with a calafornian voice to iterate directions. It works with most standard USB GPS receivers which you can get of ebay for £40. I have got a Logitech trackball mouse that will be velcro'd to the centre ash tray lid for on the move carputer control. As well as a mini keyboard velcro'd to the right of the gearbox well i have a USB numeric keypad put er.. somewhere for more on the move carputer control.
  16. The Pic below shows its straightforward to remove the vents and cut out a rectangular hole in the top part of the centre console panel and pop a 8" TFT monitor in. I found out that the stand the monitor comes with will perch nicely on the cd player that is in the upper stereo DIN slot. Though i still need to file the uneven edges in the big hole to make it look neat. Or i may put some overlay black vinyl to cover up the rough edges and gap. I left some room at the bottom of the monitor for the vga, usb touchscreen lead and aerial cables to plug into the bottom of the monitor.

The Anti Virus firms saw a potential for selling more 'security' software so they have induced paranoia in folks who are not PC techies. They sell these security centres that are 'the only way to be safe'. And these security centres are horrid. With a wrong click you can shutdown web, messenger and internet games access. For home PC i use AVG, run Adaware every 2 weeks and run Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer 2.0 that lets you apply patches if your copy of windows is somehow recognised by windowsupdate.com as not being legit (cough cough). If you need MBSA 2.0 you can get it from here: http://deluxetech.homelinux.net/stuff1/MBSASetup-EN.msi
  18. I am having the infernal front judder problem too. I fitted adjustable front upper (camber) suspension links last night and that helped traction and stability but da judders still kick in. (I used a spirit level to make sure when the car was jacked up it was of equal height within 1mm of both front sides. I then used a shorter spirit level against the brake discs to aim for neutral camber - Turning the adjustable links so their length changed appropiatly. Ok this is not the desired way to do it but i do think i have got the camber bang on to the very exact turn of the adjustable links. I also greased the pair of upper links very generously with Castrol LM grease). My front tyres have really uneven wear. I now wonder if the judder which when i got the zed last october was hardly there, but now is really bad is caused by some warping in the tyres. I have a new pair of Falken 451's ready. Though the front wheel toe may be out and perhaps tension rod or suspension strut bushings need replacing but i think i next best bet is to get the new tyres fitted and balanced. Front wheel judder - to infinity and beyond - gagh!

AVG free edition is good enough for me :)
  20. Is that a Rover V8 your using fella?
  21. Metacafe is wicked. My faves of this month are the circus performer who put his hand in an alligators mouth and amazingly the crocodile bit lol. Funny cats video, quite innocent but very funny.

Nice to see a Camero handle like its not an old sofa on rollerstakes
  23. Ah well. The 451's should have better grip in the wet than my existing Bridgestone X-Grids that came with the zed.
  24. I wanted Y rating so i can take my zed up to 180mph on brands hatch. Well thats my dream :hyper:
  25. Well i could have got the ZR ones for £45 each inc VAT Umm. What speed rating are yours?
