Dave

  3. Get voting then, I'm lonely in the 9 pointers and above. Dave
  4. If its just a split hose its worth having a look yourself mate. What area of the engine is it coming from?
  5. Don't encourage him..... :D
  6. I reckon its a good idea for unknown ebay sellers but it wont happen for traders. For good or bad its the way this forum is run. The traders help the forum by paying to be a trader and the forum helps them by advertising. There would be too much sh*t throwing. Smithy has a good system in place where people can give feedback, but hes selling goods so as long as he keeps his excellent service he can't go wrong. I don't think its so cut and dry with garages. Problems happen and its not always possible to have an agreeable outcome.
  7. Maybe theres something wrong with your car !!! lol
  8. Eek ,there's some nasty bumps on there!
  9. Bit lucky there Paul! I thought that was a ban? That'll teach you though: remember whenever going over 100mph to do at least 160mph :) less likely to catch you :headvswal :x:
  10. Bloody things! Got 3 driving a white transit on the motorway ('you were driving very safetly sir but I'm going to do you anyway' (?)) 3 in my old escort diesel also on motorway, pulled in to let a car past that was up my arse. He then pulled straight in front of me so I put my foot down to get past what I thought was an idiot driving dangerously. Probably should have contested that one. 3 in my zed on a dual carriageway. Overtook a couple of arctics so was over the limit for about 2 seconds and then continued to drive like a granny. Never got done once when I used to drive on my 'private test track', only recently when I've supposedly learnt my lesson and drive a lot slower but have a burst when the roads are clear. Strange isn't it
  11. Thanks mate, thats great. Well just the front calipers and seperately the rear calipers and discs must be less than half that I reckon. Cheers Dave
  12. Does anybody know the rough weight of these? I'm selling them and need to tell the courier. Havn't got any scales around here. Also the weight of rear calipers + discs. Regards Dave
  13. Happy birthday Retro, have a good un. We'll have to sort a cornish meet next time I'm down that way! Dave
  14. http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16125&highlight=oil+valve details are here. $27.95 so I guess about £20. Only problem I can see is as I said above, it doesn't actually mention the 300zx specifically on the website, says it fits all of the cars though. I need to have a look at the car to see how much it would stick out and if it was a problem.
  15. Girls like ugly men! She'll feel sorry for you! Go for it! lol Dave
  16. http://www.fumotovalve.com/ Check this out, it looks really good. The mazdarotary forum is orgainising a group buy and I was wondering if we should join them? I wasn't sure if it would protrude too much bearing in mind the position of the zed sump drain plug? Obviously the photo is an rx7. Anyone any thoughts, if it worked it would make oil changes a whole lot quicker. Dave
  17. Thats not a spot its a Siamease Twin! I'd give it a name.
  18. Can't see how you could make it worthwhile. I guess if the engine is in good nick still? Is it leather interior? the only reason I can think of is if you were to break it and sell the bits. Thats a lot of hassle though, you might as well not bother for all the trouble unless you have plenty of space to do it on. Just my opinion though. Dave

There's loads of posts on these things. They are susceptible to boost spikes, as well as being inconsistant anyhow. You wont know they are killing the engine until the damage has been done. Deffo don't use them unless you have a good quality boost gauge. Makes much more sense buying an electronic boost controller. Dave
  20. I'd say it would depend on your other mods as well, and what you want to achieve. You could get extreme ones that are good at higher rpm but they would be very lumpy at lower speeds and not very drivable. The 'fast street' driving type ones are the choice I suppose if you really want to uprate these, these will provide better timing for the higher revs, but not so extreme that it makes it un-comfortable at low revs. I'm not sure its worth it unless its as part of an overall engine upgrade where you sort a lot of the other things out as well to give higher performance. What are your other plans for the engine? are you uprating the internals when you have the bottom end done? worth doing if you are spending the money. Then you could think about porting/polishing the heads, and will have a setup that will be ready for uprated/bigger tubs in the future. In the meantime you'll have a bulletproof and reliable engine as it will be built to take much more stress. What I am sure of though is that someone will come along who knows a lot more than me about the subject lol :) Dave

Thats great mate. What a cracking daughter you have, you sound well proud as I would be to. My sister got hit by a car whilst on a zebra crossing when she was younger (the driver threatened to sue due to his bent car !!! until my Glaswegian Dad went round and had a 'word'). She suffers terribly from it and is always in pain, so I can imagine how your daughter must be felling after doing the walk. Tell her we're all very proud as well. Dave and Alicia
  22. Why don't you try the scooby forum??
