  1. My thoughts are like this: The majority of members (and prospective customers) here would be looking for the TT variant, preferably in a manual. If I had a few grand burning a hole in my pocket and was in the market, that's what I'd personally be looking for. There is absolutely no denying that the two Zeds you've listed are stunning machines. The convertible, I feel, is a bit of an acquired taste generally. And the 22k mile targa is something that a serious collector would buy, rather than an average member on here. That Shortie is the sort of car that would get taken to a proper classic car show for the public to drool over, rather than a car that would be bought as a going concern. My thought is that they should both be advertised on a classic and collectors website as I think they'll get far more interest there. Yes, we love the Z32 here, but we predominantly want to drive and tinker with them. Altering anything at all on the 22k miler would be tantamount to sacrilege and I don't think we have any real collectors on here.
  2. They are Speeds, Dan. They came out of an Integra DC5 originally and they're sat on a pair of genuine Z32 factory Recaro frames that I was lucky enough to get hold of :) I know a lot of people aren't keen on part-leather seats, but I love the difference in feel and texture between the leather bolsters and the Alcantara centres :)
  3. Thanks guys  She got a lot of positive comments at Pickering today and I couldn't even begin to count the number of times people were taking pictures! Happy days! :)
  4. Have I read this right? Are you actually considering parting with some money here...??
  5. Excellent news, Gaz!
  6. Having just taken delivery of a brand new pair of OEM 99 Spec rear lights, my replicas are now up for sale. Good points: There is no crazing or hazing to the lights at all! The internal shrouds were chrome-wrapped by Phutumsch, to make them even more accurate replicas. The pinstripes are present and not lifting anywhere. They come complete with looms and fully working bulbs, including the amber indicator bulbs. No water ingress at all in roughly 2 years of having them, post conversion. Bad points: One stud is snapped, as pictured. There is some resin on the very edge of the O/S light. I haven't tried to remove this or polish it off, but I'd fully expect it to come off somehow. These are great lights and, to be honest, there's very little difference between them and the new OEM ones I've replaced them with this afternoon! Looking for £95 for the pair, delivered to your door! :)
  7. Cheers, mate :) She's turning into quite a striking car now - off to her first "proper" show tomorrow so it'll be interesting to see what sort of response she gets now she has an almost-finished interior in now :)
  8. I'm with Classic Line for mine as well, Russ. £313, all mods declared and the same extras as you (except I'm covered to drive other cars too) :)
  9. Good news! I'm not going chasing big power figures or anything like that - I just figured if I could help the setup I've currently got then that can only be a good thing :) And the new rear lights were just because....
  10. This morning has seen me go and collect my latest purchase: a Selin dual MAF kit, with a nice brand new MAF. :) Just waiting on a pair of Apexi filters to land now. And my brand new OEM 99 Spec rear lights were delivered too! Think I'm about done spending money on this car for a little while...
  11. Worth having a read of this thread: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?181507-Lifter-rattle
  12. That car has been the subject of much discussion recently, especially regarding the bodykit! As you've said you'll be de-kitting it, I'll look forward to seeing the results :)
  13. See, these sort of endings make me smile :) Comparitively speaking, there's precious few of our cars on the roads today and I think that's partly down to poor maintenance and rot issues, and partly down to new owners encountering problems and reaching a point where they simply can't justify chasing the solution after a while. So it's good to see a new owner sticking with it and other owners pitching in to help them out  These cars are phenomenal fun when they're running properly, so it's great to know that Dave's going to be wearing that Zed-specific smile very soon (if he isn't already)! Good work, Ian, Andy and Lee Dent! :thumbup1:
  14. The top one is the chime that everyone disables as soon as they get a chance to!
  15. I thought His Funkyness would've had an opinion on the completed cabin....
  16. I have a pair of used rear quarterglass trims that came off my Zed. These are only suitable for the SWB! They are in very good condition with no kinks and no perishing of the rubbers and the finish on the main body of the trim is intact with no signs of any chrome coming through :) I was going to keep these as spares but, as I recently replaced them with brand new ones, I don't really see the point in hoarding them if someone else can benefit from them. Looking for £35 delivered to your door :)
  17. It's waaaaaaay past time you took that roof off, mate! I know you don't want to mess your 'do up and everything... ;)
  18. Thanks, JP  Ok, story time! I've always liked interior trims that present a nice contrast to the exterior colour. For example, the very first retrim I ever did was on my first Celica. It was a nice red exterior, slightly darker than bright red, so I decided that ivory leather would look nice inside as a contrast: When I then "upgraded" to my old SS-III Beams that was white, I quite fancied a red interior as the engine covers and wheel decals were red. The leather I've used in the Shortie is Andrew Muirhead Sateen Virginia and I originally bought it for a customer's car. When it arrived though, I decided that I'd keep it for myself instead, and the plan was to retrim the white Celica's interior using it. As it turned out, I never got around to doing that so the leather was simply stored away. When I bought my first Zed a couple of years ago, I decided that the Muirhead leather would look nice against the black exterior so I got a far as making things like gaiters, etc but never found either the time or the motivation to trim the rest of the cabin. So when I got the silver Shortie last year, I decided that a red interior could look pretty special so yet again planned to use the leather. But I changed my mind on one aspect... The original plan, even with the white Celica, was to have solid bolsters and perforated centres. I kept that plan with the black Zed as well but I started thinking about minimising the perforated leather and using Alcantara instead. I just wanted to modernise the cabin a little and perhaps make it a little less "creaky" as well. Finding a shade of Alcantara that either matched or worked well against the deep red leather was a whole other mission! It took me just over a year to find the shade I've used here, which is called Red Ochre. So the end result is an interior that (in my opinion, anyway) isn't ludicrously "in your face" as it's quite a dark red. Even though it brightens up somewhat in the sunlight, it's still not a bright red. I'm genuinely not a fan of bright red interiors myself, so this was always going to be a bit of a gamble for me. Truth be told, when I got the new covers fitted to the driver's seat, I didn't actually like them! It was only when I got everything refitted in the car that it started to look how I imagined it would, and that made me happy! The dark grey topstitching is another touch that helped me to keep things subtle. I thought silver thread would be too obvious! I also bought all-new lower bolsters for the Recaros, just to make sure that everything looked as it should do. :) And just to put it all into perspective: in materials alone (including the bolsters), retrimming the seats and interior panels have cost me just shy of £1k! Making pretty interiors can be a very expensive business...!!
  19. Cheers Russ  She went for a trip to Walworth Castle near Darlington on Sunday. Met up with some local mates and had quite the eyecatching convoy: my Zed, a Ferrari 355, a Nissan GTR, an R33 Skyline and a few other motors. :) The seats are super-comfy now and the whole cabin's just such a nice place to be, especially on a lush sunny day!
  20. PLEASE disconnect the battery for at least 15 minutes before you start removing the steering wheel! This gives the airbag capacitor chance to discharge. If you don't, you run a very real risk of the airbag going off when you start moving the wheel!
  21. Although Lonezedder did successfully collect his brand new bumper from him the other day... perhaps he's turning his life around...? I personally still wouldn't trust him in the slightest though!!
  22. I suffer the same problem from my driver's side nozzle, mate. Apparently, we need new ones of these: http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?products_id=3809 Problem solved!
