  1. Following suspected turbo seal failure and pcv issues i have decided to convert my TT into a N/A, but with a difference!.........by using a 350 cu in (5.0 litre)small block Chevy v8. I have aquired a complete engine including ancillaries (for £200!!!) and the plan is to rebuild it with new shells and rings etc and mate it to the zed manual box with an adaptor plate (have researched it on US forums and its perfectly do-able).Have looked at loads of images and the conversion leaves loads of room under the bonnet and eliminates loads of parts, other than just the engine itself. So once the swap is done i will have loads of parts for sale, including a complete engine, uprated intercoolers, various electrical stuff, dump valves etc etc which i will post up for sale as and well. once i get the v8 delivered i will post up some pics and keep you all updated. whilst this project may not please the zed purists it should be reliable (cant get much simpler than a chevy v8) and a bit different from the norm, plus it will make all the right noises with a Holley carb fitted! :) anymawho, heres a taster of what i hope to achieve, taken off the net :)
  2. Can anyone recommend a good engine courier to collect an engine form Eley, Cambridgeshire and deliver to Shrewsbury, Shropshire?.
  3. I think you can still get chips from DTA in Holland :)
  4. very nice mate, if it was mine i would be inclined to keep her as original as possible as original ones are thin on the ground :)
  5. DTA Motorsport do some good chips.......and as for boost gauges you cant go far wrong with a Greddy or Apexi.Ive had both in analogue versions and much prefer them to electronic ones.
  6. I think its all about having a sense of humour and having a bit of fun with what you drive..........
  7. they are further along the pipe in pic 2, closer to the turbos than the circled ones in the pic if you know what i mean :).......and obviously one either side.
  8. pipe 2 in the bottom pic is one of the PCV hoses......goes to the drivers side inlet cam cover.will be one on passenger side in same position.DO NOT REMOVE!!!!!!........its part of the crankcase ventilation system
  9. This is a true story......i went to an after wedding party with my ex wife (it was a woman she worked with that got married,i didnt really know anyone and was quite bored until the following happened) years ago and during the evening the best mans mates got the dj to announce the winning lottery numbers for that nights draw......knowing that the best man used the same numbers every week............ so the dj announces that he has just heard that nights lottery draw numbers.....reads out the best mans 'winning' numbers........and he goes mental, shouting and whooping..........but as his wife rushes up to throw her arms round him and share in their 'good fortune' he pushes her away and announces hes been having an affair with a girl he worked with and how they could now run away and start a new life together now hes won the lottery !!!. His mates then had to tell him that it was a wind up and it all descended in to a mass brawl, with the best man trying to thrash his mates and his wifes family trying to leather him!!!......ended up with the police turning up and everyone being thrown out of the hotel!!!. best wedding do ive every been to :)
  10. +1 on the glovebox piece, thats the only bit I found awkward.
  11. You could always put one on the mini!, lol :)
  12. Phil....noooooo.......its just wrong to have a towbar on a zed!,lol ;)
  13. Didnt borrow my dads car (mk2 cav sri130) as I had a dt125lc.......passed my test and got a 350lc the same day and that was it, nothing but bikes for years :)
  14. My mistake........it was a 120y coupe he had, in red.they still look good now, almost like a mini muscle car :).........and its replacement could have been a violet, was a long time ago :)
  15. My mates dad had one donkeys years ago and I always liked it (think his was a 2 door though).iirc he sold it and bought a bluebird :)
  16. My galaxy s automatically loads the full website, except ebay sometimes loads the mobile site first.
  17. Done some digging on the net and it appears that castrol edge does break down quite quickly as the additives shear due to load and heat and a w40 will drop to like a w20 after 1500-2000 miles!.From what I can gather it isnt even a true fully synthetic, just a synthetic blend with a shedload of additives.i am sure that someone will correct me if im wrong, and I know all engines are different and maybe on a newer engine with tighter tolerances etc it would be fine, but mine really didnt like it at all and a lot of people on a range of forums appear to habe had the same problem with it breaking down very quickly and causing a burning/smoke issue that has stopped as soon as theoil was changed.
  18. Bloody raining again in telford :(
  19. Same again tonight, got home after a good high speed run and she sat idling for 5 mins on the turbotimer and no hint of smoke from either exhaust so changing the oil has cured it.i can honestly say I habe never seen oil as thin as the castrol that came out of it, especially only after 1800 miles!.
  20. The one at the rear of the plenum is a plain hose, but tapered one end and the two to the pcvs have restrictors in them and the two from the front of the cam covers have restrictors and flame traps in them :)
  21. Ive got the 350z Brembo setup on the front of mine which I would imagine are similar to yours, and have heard its quite a job to get the rear Brembo setup to fit, with a fair bit of engineering involved.
  22. I think (fingers crossed) ive found the cause of my smoking at idle issue.........i dropped the oil out of her yesterday and it was as thin as weasel p*ss!!!. it was castrol edge 5w40 fully synthetic and has been in for approx 1800 miles but when it drained it did look or feel any thicker than brake fluid!, and thats no exaggeration, and had appeared to have completely broken down. refilled her with 10/40 semi and fitted a new filter, drove home (approx 12 miles) and left her idling on the turbotimer for about 4 minutes........and no smoke :) , whereas the night before it was billowing out :(!!!. going by the state of the castrol that came out i would never use it again.
  23. Insured the zed last week, my renewal was 379 fully comp, protected no claims ans unlimited mileage etc.......down 300 on last year! :)
  24. I went for 350z Track Edition Brembo calipers and 324mm discs off the same.Only mod was drilling the caliper bolt holes out from the standard zed 12mm to 14mm to take thicker 350z caliper bolts...no tatting about with brackets and my existing brakelines fitted straight on :)
  25. if you are fitting new pcv's its worth replacing the 5 pcv hoses as well :)..............had my pcvs out so many times now i become a dab hand at them.no need to remove boost pipes, passenger side is a bit easier with the battery off.
