1. Oh, and TOP WORK! They look amazing! Cant wait to hear that thing running dude!!!!!!!
2. They are not all equal length. Some are shorter, some are longer. This is to spread the torque curve out slightly. If they were all equal length you would get a higher peak torque figure, but it would be more a narrower powerband. I'm sure JD might explain better :wack:
3. The later manual box had improvements too Old Zed :)
4. Just to double confirm, my red UK Z Chassis number is: JN10RGZ32U00018**
5. Mwahaha so true ;)
6. The 'proper' stuff is twisted brass wire with two handles. It's twisted/woven so you use a push/pull motion (one person in the car, one person outside) and cut through all the sealant. It's brass so it's soft enough not to mark the glass. No idea where you get them from tho, not got time to look ATM.
7. Whoops! Was it the classic oil away from the pick-up pipe failure?
8. I'm surprised they never drilled speedholes in the pistons................... :p
9. Baby seats are no problem in the back of a Z ;)
10. Dude you're an engineer (like me). You wont go far wrong. ;) Just be mega carefull of the shell bearings, they're so soft your fingernail will damage them. Oh, and use plenty of oil :D
11. Who is actually going to assemble the pistons, rings, rods, beatings etc etc? Knife edge? Not sure. Maybe if you want the last couple of HP yes. ;)
12. It was pretty informative as far as reassembly goes, but does not help you out with actually building a bottom end and cylinder heads. There is quite a bit of work to get to that stage and critical that you get it right. If you've built a cr@p bottom end, no matter how much nice stuff you bolt on, it's still gonna be cr@p. There's a lot of skill in honing bores, fitting piston rings, fitting shells, bolting up big ends (I use loctite as well on these nuts BTW) & mains......... Then we got the cylinder heads. Renewing all the valve stem seals, lapping in valves, reassembling 24x valves, springs retainers 48x collets... etc etc :p It can be done, you should never be afraid. Just go about it methodically and understand what needs doing and why. Also, retro620, a spare engine is the best thing to have. You can build it at your leisure and do a swapover one weekend. Then you don't forget what pipe goes where and what wire plugs into what :D
13. ROFL so true.... Take a look at this one: Pimp my BRIDE!
14. Wow, I didn't realise it was that much! I know what you mean though, any slightly off petrol and you're pistons are toast. I should be ok for 400 on mine then :D
15. I'm sure guys in the US have had 450~500+hp @ crank out of a stock bottom end. Make no mistake, the mapping will have to be spot on at this level or the pistons will just turn to chocolate LOL Even so, people think that aftermarket pistons are det-proof. Fact is they're not. They can handle higher amounts of det yes, but they're not 100% bullet proof.
16. Thanks lads. zx-eyes I cannot see a date it ran out, I was on yesterday I think. :wack: If it has ran out, why did I not get some kind of warning? A PM or E-Mail a few days before might be helpfull in these situations. :)
17. Very true, but all those I mentioned above are also very cocky. They know they're the best of their generation. Hamilton has grew up from 7 years old, driving karts and winning and everyone telling him he's the best and will win a F1 world championship one day. Sooner or later you will believe what everyone is telling you, especially now he's in F1 AND leading the points for second year running. :D :duffer:
18. I voted yes. At least he actually gives it 110% in each race unlike 99% of the other drivers who just seem to go to sleep mid distance....... The other guys who had his attitude were/are Alonso, Senna and Schumacher. We all know where their 'never give up' attitude got them ;) Was it 12 F1 titles beteween them?
19. A poor earth somewhere? Does the starter motor spin over well? If it does it may be another minor earth that's corroded a bit.
20. Just buy 4 wheel clamps and fit them to your own vehicle :D They're only £15 each nowadays? :p
21. Yep, I found this too, unless you spray the hose directly UNDER the bonnet from a backwards angle it's 100% fine. I removed it on my red car and you'd be surprised how much of a gap it opens up :D
22. Its about time you got a decent Z! I really hope you enjoy this one fella! Go put some miles on it and waste some hydrocarbons :D
