  1. but have you acually removed the plug from the dead cylinder and seen it sparking, this will show whether its a fuel or ignition fault
  2. i had this when the turbo coolant hoses got a pinhole leak in them. the temp was fine when it was running, but if u turned it off after a run, the heatsoak from the turbo caused the hose to spray a bit until the pressure dropped again. altho this leak was from the back of the engine and ran down the bellhousing and onto the middle rear of the engine bay Fraser
  3. have you pulled the plug and checked its sparking with that coilpack?
  4. are the three front ancillary drivebelts on the TT the same as the ones for the NA? cheers
  5. technically they could chatter, if the turbo had a huge amount of inertia and was running high boost with no dump valve. but its not the noise that everyone thinks it is, as mentioned earlier its the flow refersing thru the compressor and going into surge. as for ur noise, check all your hoses and jubilee clips for leaks etc but check the noise ur getting isnt detonation or ur in shit it sound like u have ball bearings rattling around on the crown of the piston, its a NASTY sound!
  6. i wouldnt say that these engine suffer from cooling problems, have an inadequate cooling system or otherwise. yes these engines die from over heating, but all engines would. one of the main problems are, that there are so many small water hoses for turbo coolant etc that after 15yrs, they perrish and burst..leading to rapid coolant loss. as the engine is so big and the gauge is so slow to react to the change in temp, the first the driver knows about it,is that the engines knackered. as for your ambient temps is aus, as long as the ambient is less than 80-90degC then the radiator will cope with the cooling, although the intercoolers may struggle. there is a very large (engine driven)viscus fan AND an electric fan for the engine and A/C rad, for when in traffic or engine temps are VERY high. hope this helps Fraser
  7. glad its sorted
  8. u havnt 'lost' the money until you sell them. shares can come back up again. dry yer eyes
  9. its probably just the rad has been over filled slightly and the excess has expanded out thru the overflow (follow the tube beside the filler cap) if u can see water in the rad thru the cap then theres prob enough in it. if u top it up further it will just expand till it finds its own level, keep an eye on ALL the fluid levals till ur confident its stopped doing it, then u can assume its just been overfilled Fraser
  10. try resetting the ECU, i had this problem. others say it clears it self, but in my experience it never has and u need to short the diag plug to enter diag mode then short again to exit it properly. check ur installation of your resistor first tho before u go raking in about the ECU terminals
  11. if ur sure its water, then its either a burst hose or the expansion tank has been overflowed (as mentioned) if its oil then its likely powersteering fluid, the hose is prone to leaking at the coupling. or its ATF. thats about all the fluid thats red
  12. aye was meant to be going to that but im offshore
  13. but by the time u find out what this magic restriction diameter is, ul have popped your turbos. ur still taking a gamble, as some people get 10k with the de-cats, some get 10miles, so ur as well just running straight pipes.
  14. is that the only place you can top up the ATF?
  15. so let me see, we're going to remove the restiction of the cats to increase gas flow by reducing back pressure in the exhaust system.........then we'll add a restrictor to increase the back pressure to save the turbos?! seems a bit pointelss to me
  16. well having fitted the kit you have listed from the Canadian eBay seller only 3 weeks ago, including the Relay harness to my japTT, it took about an hour (including moding the brackets to fit under the headlight behind the bumper. worked first time, instaling the lamps is no more difficult than changing a standard lamp. the conectors can only really go in one way so its not like you can make it go on fire or something.
  17. aye only if its a PT100 tho and not some dodgy oddball RTD. try getting someone with a working one and measuring it. and comparing the resistance to urs or find a resistor with the same resistance and frig it to see if itl read.
  18. well, stick at it, theres obviously something gone bottom scale (most probably still the ambient sensor or some associated wiring. so the Climate controler is trying to tell you something. that diagnostic was developed because its a complicated system, some one has spent a lot of time designing it so it must be there for a reason, if it was simple to fix then it wouldnt be there ;) Fraser

3rd of September 2006 whos all going? im onshore for it (about the only show i can make this year!) so il be there. Im trying to sort a convoy from Aberdeen. il be the only Z like, but i just wondered if anyone was going down or wanted to meet up on the way down? Fraser
  20. try a hex socket rather than a 12 pointer, u should always use a hex where you can, much better than gripping the corners. failing that, you have a few options: take it down to ur friendly Kwik fit place or simelar, and get them to heat it while u slacken it off with a pair of stillies. (but be carefull cos some of the monkeys in that place will roast it so much theyl wreck the bushes etc..) grind it off (access is probably too poor for that) use a nut splitter (if access allows)
  21. theres a diagnostic you can do that brings up codes for o/c s/c sensors and actuators. better to try that first rather than randomly change out things that you dont understand.
  22. mine were plug and play. superb improvement to standard lamps! the relay harness is there to take the load off the original lamp circuit. you basically use the old lamp harness as a switch to switch a relay which supplys the HID ignitors directly through a fused lead. i bought mine through that seller you have listed. they arrived within 3 days, very impressed. i hav the 10000k lamps, they give a nice blue light, dont know if its the best for driving, but they are so much better than the std lamps its unreal!
  23. ive heard that too, deffo worth a try, its as hell not to make it obvious.
