  1. Mines not the greatest, the paints flaked so it either needs repainting, or replacing with the fibreglass version from the Z centre - Has anyone removed their spoiler using the instructions from the TT.NET link and soes anyone have any extra advise to add to this procedure? Cheers for any pointers!
  2. Phil at C&S Wood is a good bet.
  3. £40 at my local garage. 1 hours labour.
  4. Auto fluid lasts a lot longer than 3-4k regardless. You should get a minimum of 30k from fluid - if not you have major problems. And yes, clean the filter with meths. There is a write up on tt.net on how to do it. Interesting on the valve mod - any details on who did and what was done?
  5. Just been for its MOT and passed easily. :)
  6. Its tricky but if you have some mole grips that clamp shut then its easy to get the pipe off while everything else is in place - just get a flat bladed screwdriver to ease the rubber pipe off after you have clamped the spring clip open, then slide the spring clip off the metal pipe and it should work free - then squirt cleaner into the opening of the valve.....
  7. I''ve used them for tyres and they where great. Easy to use and reliable.
  8. what year Astra? For an old model thats a bit expensive, even for a new one where perhaps its a bit more awkard to get at its still expensive!!! You can always source the parts yourself if you ask what they need as Vauxhall parts are usually twice the price of other motor factors that can supply them.....
  9. You want to leave caning it really for a minimum of 10 minutes, 15 would be ideal, then everythings at the proper temps. This is even more true for the auto box as it restricts the final gear until its happy with the fluid temperature and thats around 15 minutes.
  10. Does anyone use this instead of the space saver wheel we have? We have a Zafira and the spares been nicked and rather than payout for another just for it to be nicked again, am thinking of getting something like tyreweld to carry instead - a lot of new cars are being supplied only with these cans and not spare wheels so it would save some worrying! Cheers folks.
  11. Heat is the main reason - As an extra some people use a CPU fan from a PC and fit one of thoses over the top for additional cooling as well.
  12. Have you changed the fluid and the filters in the box?
  13. If you lower the car you upset the front wheel alignment and you cant adjust the settings you need without buying an adjuster kit which isnt cheap - Otherwise you will trash every set of tyres you put on it.....Do a bit of research before lowering the car.
  14. Does anyone know the part number for this as it might be easier to buy a new one with a drain plug already in it rather than going to all the trouble of having one fitted......Nissan cant find it! Doh! Cheers!
  15. There is a throttle cable adjustment page in tt.net - check that out and once you have adjusted everything, including any tps changes - try and get in spec - reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for at least 30 mins. If all that fails, change the fluid out, or make sure the fluid is at the right level with it all warmed up, running and in Neutral.
  16. But who would buy it? Waste of money.
  17. Right then - having decided to do the job myself - does anyone have any advice to avoid dropping oil over me and the drive way - ie - a good way to drain the oil bearing in mind I dont have a drain plug. I'll see about getting one fitted when I take the pan off, is there anywhere that sells this type of thing and where would be the best spot to fit one - I guess not exactly on the bottom as it might get scraped off on a speed bump or something.....All ideas welcome!
  18. If you are BT then Freedom 2 Surf is great - been with them ages and no complaints yet and they always reply to emails promptly. Just mention I recommended you if you sign up!
  19. I aint got one on mine.....sob. I'd have to undo every little bolt from the pan and then get deluged in transmission oil - lovely.
  20. You never get the oil out of the convertor without power flushing anyway, and as for undoing a load of bolts with the car 1 foot off the ground and getting covered in oil isnt my idea of a day well spent - Good point about the debris though.
  21. Carb cleaner works very well.....
  22. I cant be bothered to undo all the bolts on the pan to drop it and refiill it so I was thinking of buying a washer motor from Halfords and some tubing and suctioning out from the dip stick hole - I plan to do about 3 lots of drain refill cycles - Anyone tried this and can say how much you can get out in one go? Cheers.
