  1. Went to Pirtek and got the bits I need....
  2. I've got a weepy power steering pipe return - its weeping a little bit where it comes back into the resevoir and no matter what I do I cant sto pit - so my solution is to find a 10mm pipe joiner and cut the pipe and fit a new length of pipe on and see if that cures it - problem is I need a joiner quick - today really and live near Southport and Preston....Anyone got any ideas? Theres no way I can get the pipe off the resevoir without dismantling the resevoir - I'll have to cut it using a stanley knife..... Demon Tweeks have them so if no-one else has any ideas I'll have to make a detour and go there.... Cheers for any help!!
  3. I replaced both of my pipes - not too expensive from Nissan - trick is to connect the bottom of the pipes first, then the top of the pipes - that way they are still bendy enough to get tools onto them....Took me less than 1 hour to do them.
  4. Andy is right - I did this on mine and it fixed it - You have to take the speedo unit out of the cluster and re-solder all the little tiny solder joint on the pcb on the back of it....
  5. the Japanese Imports have a speed limit and thats why its happening - fitting UK clocks can remove this and put it to 155mph
  6. When you plug it into your pc - can you find the name of the device in the hardware list - It may help you determine a web site for it.......You may find the file formats arnt MP3 then and its some other format - try some WAV files - Sony MP3 players for instance need files in ATRAC format only..... Maybe the files need to go into a specific directory to play them.....
  7. Master cylinder is a usual culprit and it can be difficult to see - look behind it and down below the brake servo it attaches to - is it wet or has the paint peeled or bubbled? Feel around the joint where the cylinder connects to the servo - it might be wet or oily. If its then thats your problem - not a hard job to do yourself - I did mine in a couple of hours .
  8. Could be a blocked filter in the auto box - you have to remove the sump on the gearbox to check it and clean it out - theres a link on http://www.twinturbo.net on how to do the auto gearbox oil and in there you will see the metal filter and how to clean it. Sometimes these get clogged up and prevent the fluid moving round the box....
  9. A lot of the time its one or both of the 2 little stubby rubber pipes that go from the 2 metal pipes into the engine block.
  10. My pipes have some corrosion and according to Phil at C&S Wood - although its a fiddly job you dont have to drop the subframe to do them - He also mentioned having the bad sections cut out and new ones fitted with a special kit to flare the pipes.....Check around to see who can do this - you really want a Z specialist as they know how to do the work on these cars without it costing the earth...
  11. Ignore the letter - pass it on to your insurance to deal with - dont reply to it.
  12. I used to use DVD Shrink all the time - but it came unstuck with Narnia - Had to use DVDFab to do that one.
  13. For anyone who doesnt know this is a new one...We got the warning at work so I though I'd pass it on here... This one is pretty slick since they provide YOU with all the information, except the one piece they want. NOTE, the callers do not ask for your card number; they already have it. This information is worth reading. By understanding how the VISA & MasterCard Telephone Credit Card Scam works, you'll be better prepared to protect yourself. One of our employees was called on Wednesday from "VISA", and I was called on Thursday from "Master Card". The scam works like this: Person calling says, "This is (name), and I'm calling from the Security and Fraud Department at VISA. My Badge number is 12460. Your card has been flagged for an unusual purchase pattern, and I'm calling to verify. This would be on your VISA card which was issued by (name of bank). Did you purchase an Anti-Telemarketing Device for $497.99 from a Marketing company based in Arizona?" When you say "No", the caller continues with, "Then we will be issuing a credit to your account. This is a company we have been watching and the charges range from $297 to $497, just under the $500 purchase pattern that flags most cards. Before your next statement, the credit will be sent to (gives you your address), is that correct?" You say "yes". The caller continues - "I will be starting a Fraud investigation. If you have any questions, you should call the 1- 800 number listed on the back of your card (1-800-VISA) and ask for Security. You will need to refer to this Control Number. The caller then gives you a 6 digit number. "D o you need me to read it again?" Here's the IMPORTANT part on how the scam works. The caller then says, "I need to verify you are in possession of your card". He'll ask you to "turn your card over and look for some numbers". There are 7 numbers; the first 4 are part of your card number, the next 3 are the security Numbers' that verify you are the possessor of the card. These are the numbers you sometimes use to make Internet purchases to prove you have the card. The caller will ask you to read the 3 numbers to him. After you tell the caller the 3 numbers, he'll say, "That is correct, I just needed to verify that the card has not been lost or stolen, and that you still have your card. Do you have any other questions?" After you say No, the caller then thanks you and states, "Don't hesitate to call back if you do", and hangs up. You actually say very little, and they never ask for or tell you the Card number. But after we were called on Wednesday, we called back within 20 minutes to ask a question. Are we glad we did! The REAL VISA Security Department told us it was a scam and in the last 15 minutes a new purchase of $497.99 was charged to our card. Long story - short - we made a real fraud report and closed the VISA account. VISA is reissuing us a new number. What the scammers want is the 3-digit PIN number on the back of the card. Don't give it to them. Instead, tell them you'll call VISA or Master card directly for verification of their conversation. The real VISA told us that they will never ask for anything on the card as they already know the information since they issued the card! If you give the scammers your 3 Digit PIN Number, you think you're receiving a credit. However, by the time you get your statement you'll see charges for purchases you didn't make, and by then it's almost too late and/or more difficult to actually file a fraud report. What makes this more remarkable is that on Thursday, I got a call from a "Jason Richardson of Master Card" with a word-for-word repeat of the VISA scam. This time I didn't let him finish. I hung up! We filed a police report, as instructed by VISA. The police said they are taking several of these reports daily! They also urged us to tell everybody we know that this scam is happening.
  14. Common misconception. 2 Pack is not 2 coats as has been mentioned earlier - PPG do 2 pack paints - you only apply one coat of colour paint - The formulation of the paint is the 2 pack part. A colour coat and then a lacquer coat is just 2 different applications one after the other. I'll get my coat.
  15. It will be the Hicas arms - Nissan only parts (2 needed) but not expensive - About £50 per arm I think.
  16. Over 120k on mine - only things changed on the engine so far are timing belts and water pump not so long ago.....original turbos still present and spooling nicely....fingers crossed!
  17. Originally bought house for 121K took mortgage for 110K - 4 bedroom detached. Thats now down to 90K and costs £642 per month. Blo*dy fortune! Banged a 26x12 conservatory on the back of the house last year cost 16k House is now worth 250k so I'm happy about that!
  18. I've got Nero and I've turned down my graphics acceleration so I get that message too - you should be able to just continue past it like I do and make the dvd anyway.....you shouldnt notice any problems at all. Mine works fine and I've created loads of dvd's.
  19. Orange is well known at the moment for being rubbish - Cross your fingers and hope it gets sorted is all you can do.....Oh and make sure you log a call each day so if it goes on too long you can claim breach of contract and go somewhere else....
  20. Rule number one when upping the boost - Dont do it unless you do the turbos as well - You should have been advised that the turbos are likely to go with this type of modification. Its the most severe - bear in mind that stock turbos are designed for 9.5 psi - 14 is asking for them to fail - I'm not having a go but the garage should have told you what to expect when paying out for this. When you get it back please buy a boost controller to prevent the boost spiking and to keep it under control or other bits of your engine may well follow..... Good luck getting it back soon though.
  21. Sorry - meant to add that after you have siphoned out the oil - you can then safely remove the sump to clean the filter.....Thats what I did with mine anyway.
  22. Yep -Bad Taste it is - love the bit where they have to eat sick out of a bowl to avoid being found out!
  23. why not ask for a picture of them with the car? String them along and waste their time!!!
  24. I did mine without changing the gasket......no leaks. I got a pump from DemonTweeks for sucking the fluid out of the gear box through the filler pipe....If you drop the pan you you get deluged in oil....Plus you need to do a couple of changes to get any where near clean oil as you cnat get at the oil in the torque convertor....which has half the oil in it!
