Trax 2016. Silverstone. Sep 25.
Cool. Once again its weather dependent to some extent. I wont book any track time just yet. If there is no club presence as far as a stand goes then we can just book "general public" track time sessions.

Three Sisters Track Attack Aug 13th.
That would be nice Ian. Just keep an eye on the thread re weather as I dont want a 200 mile drive on wet roads with my Federal 595 track tyres :scared: I also need to get a "greyhound sitter" organized:yes:

Time Attack Croft Aug 21st.
My mate Steve has entered his 240Z for the Croft Round of this years Time Attack series after a reasonably successful initial session at Brands Hatch in June. I will be in the pits looking after the car and driver. We were "testing" last week at Croft in preparation. If anyone is attending this event pop in to see us during the lunchtime pit walkabout.. Pits picture is Brands. Track pics are at Croft

Trax 2016. Silverstone. Sep 25.
Im looking to have another day out driving on track Silverstone. So Trax is now on my "events list". No need to tell you Im sure but Trax is one of the largest car shows in the UK. Multi marque. It takes place at Britains biggest and best track. http://www.traxshows.co.uk/traxshow Silverstone National circuit is a big wide non technical track that is ideal for "track virgins" Sessions are graded Novice, intermediate and advanced so you can choose what suits you. There is no club stand at present but "track drivers" get there own dedicated area to park in....reasonably near the track entrance so all good. Its always nice to have fellow 300 owners around and Im available to help on track tips etc for anyone thinking of venturing out for the first time. So..............................

Three Sisters Track Attack Aug 13th.
Time to hit the track again I think......................... Lots of hot hatches to play with. Warning ...motorsport is dangerous... particularly at Three Sisters. Its also highly addictive. Im in provisionally for the moment. Weather dependent. Its a long drive from Nottingham to Wigan. Three Sisters Track Attack days are not really shows in the traditional sense that many 300ZX owners know. Its more a gathering of drivers/cars that are track/performace orientated.Small hatchbacks predominate. Normally some Caterham type kit cars and then a mix of anything else. Jap stuff, BMWs etc etc Very informal. Quite low key and normally full of friendly no nonsense northern folk. Just a fiver to get in , park up and watch the fun. 10 lap track sessions are £20 or three for £50.

The Fast Car Festival 2016. Jul 30 31st. Donington.
It is a new show. There were plenty or small modded cars etc etc. So its a good job you didnt attend. In fact you not being there was one of the best bits about the show.

The Fast Car Festival 2016. Jul 30 31st. Donington.
Whenever i mention t now i get asked about the build number.... but back when they were new it was just a fast Ford. Nobody bothered about details like the build number. It was scary fast for its time. :scared: I kept it for just under a year and sold it to a dealer for the same money I paid for it.

The Fast Car Festival 2016. Jul 30 31st. Donington.
Ill leave you to bask in glory a bit longer. Its just a selection of other stuff at the show that caught my interest. Well done and well deserved for you and your car at Beaulieu:thumbup: It is interesting to see the emergence of the 300ZX on the classic car scene. I get the attraction on shows like Beaulieu for many people. For my part I got that classic show stuff done and dusted more than a decade ago when I had my blue 240Z. Nowadays I just want to drive my car to the limits before advancing years put a stop to me doing it.

The Fast Car Festival 2016. Jul 30 31st. Donington.
So in my usual " billy no mates" mode I went to Donington today. I had a steady but enjoyable first time ever track session at this iconic track. Mark Derby from Automodz was on track in the same session in his Focus ST. I feature on the vid!! We were all given a lesson by Tiff Needell in a Lotus doing passenger rides. It makes you realize how slow normal track drivers/cars are!!! There was a decent selection of cars on display, Jap stuff included. I might post some pics up in a few days. No point now as the forum will be overrun with Simply Jap from Beaulieu stuff atm.

Off the clock!!
I will be in touch later if needed.:thumbup1: Im out on track at the Fast Car Show this Sunday at Donington. I wont need the speedo for that as I drive on the rev counter anyway:biggrin:

Off the clock!!
Cheers Nick. I think they were NA auto?? I dont think I ever had a spare NA manual one.
-
Off the clock!!
I fear you are correct. Fortunately i can take the cluster from my spare/2nd slicktop to try.
-
Off the clock!!
Oh OK then... Here is some delayed laughter......... HAHAHaHa... But Im a bit peeved that Im going to spend some time looking for the fault. The cluster has a converter expertly added which has been very reliable up to now. It may now be faulty of course. Or the g box speed sensor.... or dodgy wiring hidden somewhere. Whatever it is its a royal pain in the .........

What did you do to your zed today?
No offense intended. I just looked at the picture and thought it looked awful.. I know you are young and working on a limited budget etc but home chopped and bent bits of mild steel screwed on to any engine bay are never IMO going to look good on any car. Did you see anything similar on the great selection of engine bays on show at Coventry? Why not remove and refurbish the components back to OEM or better visual condition and paint the engine bay in glossy colour to match the outside of the shell. I didnt open my engine bay cos mine is untidy and frequently dusty I have a piece of carbon fibre sheet in the middle of my slam panel but its not to hide anything merely to force alll the incoming air from the bumper to go thru the rad not over it.Its held on with tie wraps which contrast with the pop rivets holding by broken/repaired fan shroud in place!!:scared:
