What did you do to your zed today?
Its no loss really. You can never get tyres upto temperature even on a dry track when the air/track temp is in single figures.

Looks like a decent Zed.......
On further reading... the revised rear spoiler was introduced on JDM models in Oct 93. So.... series 3.

Looks like a decent Zed.......
Typically the general motor trade would describe anything post series 1 as a "facelift" car...its what it is of course. 300ZX people in general will be more knowledgable and be aware that "facelift" is a term that covers several distinct series of evolution. I put this car as a 95 spec car or series 4. These appeared from Oct 94 onwards Anyone care to confirm or contradict???

NA owners
I have always bought NAs cos thats wot I wanted. So clearly Im happy. I could buy a TT tomorro if I wanted or even get Gagwoz to bring me a 99 spec one in from Japan. As long as I have been on this forum (a long time) we have had debates on TT vs NA................... and all the other variables too........ Auto vs Manwell. SWB vs LWB Targa vs Skicktop. There are always lively but inclonclusive debates bout all these matters. Long may they continue.

Need advice from the track lot....
It looks like you have already diagnosed some of your problems. And it takes a brave man to own up to that. Testing at this time of year is pretty meaningless as you cant get enough heat in to the tyres all round. Take up Bobs offer of meeting up with him and Ben from Eurospec. You will learn a lot in a very short time Im postive.. It will take many sessions testing at a proper track before you get the car to your liking. As already mentioned a 245 width middle of the road tyre just wont cut it now on your car. Its nice to be mentioned but I dont have any experience of BIG power cars. Both Bob and Jaffa have offered me drives in the past which I have declined. My experience is centered on making a lower powered car punch above its weight on track and on the 1/4 mile. I like to think I have been reasonably successful in that area. What you need to bear in mind Ash is the devil is always in the detail. Its not easy to turn a 300 into a fast track car........just look how few have done it in the UK. Its very easy to make a powerful 300 and crash it......lots of people have achieved that.:scared:

In done for the season now and busy on winter projects till the spring now. Lets hope you get a better response than I did.

Project Nissan Stagea Turbo - Lairy Wrap... !
I dont share the love Gaz. But its always good to have a little variety on the forum.:thumbup1: I can see a Stagea would be useful for some people but not me for sure............... Undertakers spring to mind.... Just think how many more "clients" could be transported to their place of rest with all that extra power.

That is very nice of you to offer. However it wont work well for a variety of reasons. You need "seat time" in a car to get the feel of it. On the road first before using it in anger. Also....I drive my car like I stole it. Its a disposable toy to me.If it blows up or I crash it then its no big deal. I couldnt drive anyone elses car like that!! Me personally ..I have no experience of driving a turbo 300ZX on the road let alone on the strip/track. I have had offers before to drive but always turned them down. Bob would be a better person to drive your car as he has lots of turbo 300 experience. However if you have ever seen Bob on the strip/track then you probably wont want yours driven like that!.:scared: No reason why we cant get together next year tho. I havnt done any 1/4miles this year so Iwill be needing some practice. I meant to say before... Ignore reaction times at present. They dont count towards your ET in RWYB mode. They only come in to play in "heads up" racing. And finally ... here is some theory/advice. re launching and getting good 60ft times. Build/kit out your car so it can launch at peak torque(with no or limited wheelspin) and shift at peak power. You do need a dyno run to get those points accurately tho. A shift light of the progressive type with sequential lights will help with peak power shifting. Single light like I have works OK too.

LOL!!! Being Serious the 60ft time is the key indicator for all cars on the 1/4 mile. 2.6 sixty foot times are very slow. I know you are both novices so there is no taking the piss etc The advice is as follows..... Buy better tyres. Practice... practice... practice. Here is a target to aim for. My best ever 60ft time is a 2.06sec. Thats with an NA car. A well driven and set up TT will beat the 2sec barrier. When you can go sub 2 sec on a 60ft time you will see your ET fall by the same amount So drop from 2.6 to 2.0 on 60ft You ET will drop from 14.13 to 15.5ish. Remember the golden rule tho ... time lost at the 60ft mark can NEVER be made up.

Event idea for 2017 your thoughts and input please
according to Wilipedia there are 820 odd square miles in the park. I was wondering whereabouts in that vast area your proposed overnight stay was with a view to joing in on one or maybe two days. Looking at an earlier post it appeared you had a place in mind... However ... given the brevity of your answer Ill pass on the idea. Thanks.

bobgenie rebuild
Its a combination of Hoosier Drag tyres and Driver Skills. Bob has honed his launch skills progresssively on the quarter mile over several years with many many runs. His 10.9 run at Santa Pod is without doubt the fastest recorded 1/4 mile by a 300ZX in the UK. Nobody else is even close. Its a true skill that needs to be learned by practise and analysis. Many normal road going drivers never get it.

Terminal speed is an indicator of engine power. What was your best ET and 60ft time???

How should I attach rear bumper panel skirt thing?
No hate involved from me or Si either Im sure. Just personal opinions being expressed in a pleasant way. Im looking forward to seeing you get it on the road and driving.....no matter what you fit on it.

my build thread
WAAAAAY to much personal information here!!!!!!!:scared::scared: BTW the car is epic. Im liking the fact that there are no gaudy coloured trinkets littered everywhere inside or out.:thumbup1:

How should I attach rear bumper panel skirt thing?
It grates for me to agree with the Funky one but in this case I do. Like many similar car clubs the trend is moving away from cheap nasty fibreglass add ons like this. Just my opinion of course and if you are set on the idea of putting it on then use Tiger seal, Sikaflex or similar products. Your car .... your choice.
