Posted September 29, 20168 yr I'm just wondering what people's thoughts are. What would it take to effectively change a S1 car into a S2 car. Would it just be a straight swap of the interior? Membership No 0780 INSURANCE GOOFA Datascan, Conzult, ECUTalk and a few others I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:
September 29, 20168 yr Are you talking solely interior? You will have to modify the series 2 door cards to fit the belts on the doors but other than that I think the interior all fits.
September 29, 20168 yr Author It's the seat belts on the doors I'm not keen on. I'm wondering if it's easy to retrofit the s2 interior into a S1 and have the seatbelts on the B pillar. Not too sure what else is different to be honest - engine etc would be coming out of the black car anyway Membership No 0780 INSURANCE GOOFA Datascan, Conzult, ECUTalk and a few others I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:
September 29, 20168 yr Changing the seat belts from door to pilla is pretty easy, take photos when you remove from the other car. 2002 Porsche C2 996 3.6 1991 Nissan 300zx TT Project 1995 Nissan 300zx TT Crashed 🥲 1997 Jaguar XK8 Scraped ☹️

September 30, 20168 yr Author You will need to weld some seatbelt bolt mounting plates on to the B pillar. Thanks. Is that the only thing that wouldn't be a straight swap. Just wondering if a S1 car could/should be an option for a diner or not. Not sure if the pod controls are all the same, something in my head is telling me they were slightly different in function Membership No 0780 INSURANCE GOOFA Datascan, Conzult, ECUTalk and a few others I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:
September 30, 20168 yr S2 heater controls are different. You need the pod fascia and the heater ECU for them to work correctly.
September 30, 20168 yr Just wondering if a S1 car could/should be an option for a diner or not. Just get the best shell available irrespective of its S1/S2 lineage. She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.
September 30, 20168 yr I love having the belts on the doors - it gives that pillar a sense of worth! I have completely retro-fitted a S2 interior into my S1 but retained ALL the original seat belt positions as I prefer the lap belts in the back too. The problem is with that though, whilst you can modify the door cards, you're left with cut outs in the rear - I solved that by sourcing a set of US-spec 2+2 rear quarter panels and used the lowers with the JDM series 1 uppers to give me a full S2 interior with original seat belt locations with no cut outs at all. :) Took me ages to find the rear quarters though in the US as they only made S2 with the belts in their original locations for about a year and the 2+2 is not that popular there. One panel I found in a breakers yard in Los Angeles and the other I found on ebay from a guy in Pennsylvania. The power of the internet is strong! :) ...and with my new Mondo wheel and Arubadave Z logo, I'm really happy with how it looks now.
