  1. Cars and peoples perception of setting vary. My advice is start somewhere. Note setting.... drive and evaluate... alter to suit . Start at soft and increase to suit or start on hard and back off. Doesnt matter.
  2. Agreed . My 2wd sapphire was F reg.. Like you I bought it for its practicality as I had a wife, child and Samoyed all to take to our holiday home at Scarborough.
  3. And once you find the solution there ceases to be a problem!!! My MOT man will love this when I show him cos Im going to demonstrate it to him on his own engine gas analyser  ................................................................................. after he has pressed the PASS button of course!!!
  4. art213....... Your car ...your rules.. if you want running lights JFDI. Si has just reverted to his expected boring old OEM + mode.:innocent: I never pay any attention to anything he says:lol: For the record Im not a huge fan but who gives a toss what I think .....:biggrin::biggrin:
  5. Ha Ha!! He didnt it was me who came up with the idea. It is a complete "cheat" of course. I might not need it but its nice to have the option on the test. I cant do "map alterations" personally that is Steves paat of the operation. The Emerald has three map options. On mine Map 1 is the real power map as set by Noz on the Future Motorsports Rolling road. Map two was unused but is now the "MOT" map Map 3 is a 95 octane map that I colud use if I had to drive in anger and only had 95 available. I think it is a slightly retarded ignition map?? Driving normal roads is OK on 95 anyway on my NA but max power was on a 99 octane fuel load.
  6. MOT time is not normally as issue with my clean rust free low annual miles slicktop. My MOT testers are well used to the car. Last year he commented that the emission reading was "close" to the testing limit. Well its going to be on a modded car which is set to avoid the danger of going lean anywhere at any moment. So today My pal Steve helped me create an "MOT" map on the multimap option Emerald ECU I use. Its just a copy n paste of the real map but at anything from 750 revs up to 2500(MOT fast idle test revs) he has taken out 3/4 points on the fuel. The result is brilliant. At normal tickover(950/1000) the AFR sits at mid 14s which should pass but with one flick of the switch it goes out to 16/17. And similarly at 2500 revs. The results are viewable constantly of my AFR gauge The car still revs up on no load . It just wont drive very well!!:whistling: No matter "driving" isnt part of the test anymore If I was more internet/smartfone savvy I would have done video of it............but Im not:thumbdown:
  7. The moonstone colour D reg car is two wheel drive. Ford did not sell a 4wd version in that shell. Subsequently they introduced the 2wd RS500 Cosworth which was a limited edition homologation special. When the Saphire 4 door saloon was made they firstly produced a 2wd Cosworth version. The final change was the introduction of 4wd in the saphire Cosworth. That marked the end of "sierra" type Cosworths. Ford then switched to creating an Escort Cosworth variant
  8. It was pretty quiet in the morning. The closure for a few weeks has had a negative effect. Plus its a Sat morning in August. Some are working others away on holiday maybe?? There is another Track attack date in September........
  9. Back home from a good day. I managed to dodge the odd shower and did my usual three 10 lap sessions. The first session I had the track to myself which was great to re familiarise myself as I havnt been since late last summer. I had a very small "exceeding track limits" moment in a busy 3rd session. The inside of the final downhill 90 right had a small damp patch which I caught on one lap and it spat me out over the LHS kerb with both left wheels...:scared: I managed to collect it all and keep it pointing forward but it was close. Driver error ... the car is behaving beautifully and I did receive some complementary remarks from a few others there which is always nice:thumbup1:
  10. Thanks Joel. I am looking forward to it. I will try and stay safe although I have had a previous "off track" experience at Three sisters:scared: I did wash the car this afternoon... No polish tho:thumbdown: also checked fluid levels and tyre pressures. Just been out and topped up £40 worth of V power. The fuel must work as I nearly lost the back end exiting the service station back on to the road:innocent: I got a bit sideways in the middle of a two way road. There may have been some horns beeped I was too busy trying to straighten up to notice:lol:
  11. I have been watching the weather for Wigan all week before deciding to make the longish trip up tomorro to have a play. This will be my first visit this year as the track was shut for a while earlier in the year due to "financial difficulties." Its unusual to find another 300 there but thats fine with me there will be plenty of other track minded cars and owners there. Event hosted/featured as follows.................................. Saturday 12th August - 'Track Attack Featuring 2Rude2Cruise' - Public can take their road legal cars on track from 10 am, please bring your licence on the day and MOT for the car, full face helmets for hire if you don't have one. £20.00 for 10 laps or £50.00 for 30 laps. The mental image I have of Skunky Fi and co turning up for a "2Rude2Cruise" hosted event is funny to contemplate:lol::lol::lol:
  12. Reaches for a bandage to plug the gunshot holes!!:scared: :lol:
  13. There are no nice kits.... They all look very 90s now. We used to have one or two decent looking SWB cars with wide arches.:thumbup1: But it just looks all wrong on a LWB All of course IMHO!! Cue LWB wide arch people charging in from the left....:lol:
  14. Series 2 PTU adapter harness. genuine Nissan, in good condition. Price includes UK shipping by recorded post. Plug n play. No cutting or soldering required.
  15. Set of six later type injector connectors in good used condition £20 inc postage
  16. Here is a quick copy n paste from a paint supplier about appplication of 3 stage pearls........ This refers to bulk paint and thinners of course but the time frames still apply. One final point to bear in mind you only have 100ml of real paint in a 400ml aerosol. That doesnt cover a very big area .
  17. As Si has already alluded to Nissans KH6 is a three stage pearl. stg 1 is a coloured ground. Stg 2 is the pearl. stage 3 is the clear top coat. Before you start with the 3 stages you need to fully prep and prime the panels. Your primer needs to be perfect as there is no further opportunity to rub down once you start the process. Before starting the primer the panels need to be heat dried and panel wiped thoroughly. DO NOT attempt any of this outside. The three stages all need to be completed on the same day. Si has already given good advice about test panels first. I would just add that aerosols do not give anything close to the coverage a good spray gun does so you might need an extra pearl coat from a can??? I dont know for sure as I would never attempt this with aerosols. As far as top clear coat goes bear in mind that single pack lacquer in rattle cans is not as hard and resistant finish as 2K lacquer especially on something like a front bumper.
  18. Its a really good idea to expose these threads Andy. If this forum wants to turn itself in to a proper "club" then several members who clearly do know better need to reflect on their comments, some of which are more suited to "Barry Boys" style pages. Im not suggesting everyone should post "nice car mate" on every thread but just pause a moment before banging the keyboards. How would many of you feel if it was YOUR" car that was subjected to the torrent of abuse this car received.
  19. Errr....no they dont use TNT for everything. i have just sent two tyres with Paisley Freight this week:thumbup1:
  20. Just put your vehicle details in to the compatability checker on the listings.
  21. I missed going last year as I was too late to book any track time. Just booked now for this year. Tracktime slot E at 10.20 (intermediate) Tracktime slot N at 13.20. (novice) as no suitable intermed slots left. One of the biggest and best car gatherings in the Uk(IMO) I like the venue and the track is great fun to drive. Its fast, wide and safe and not too technically demanding Im always hopeful someone will come out to play on track with me..:whistling: So if you are actually going and are/have booked then post up here.... Normally the response on 300ZX club is poor and few cars attend. Fine..... Ill go on my own Please dont bore with with reasons why not to go....I have heard them all before so Im not that interested.:tt2:
  22. One pair of radio mounting brackets (I think??) £6 collected £3 extra to post. pmaczc@madasafish.com
  23. One original Nissan supplied 2+2 space saver wheel/tyre combo. Of no use to a 2 seater owner like me. Collect only. Nottingham way. No couriers 07778 411568
  24. Agreed 100% As the owner of one of the hardest driven cars on the forum I can tell you that this set up is well up to serious use. Provided you use the correct pads. It seems to me that having huuuuge brakes is more of a visual fashion statement rather than a necessity for many owners.:innocent:
  25. A pair Slicktop pillar trims in excellent condition. These do not fit any targa cars. No screw holes Vinyl in good condition Mounting clips all intact Being picky there is a small dent in one from lying in storage. This is slowly coming out as it sits in the warm. £30 collected UK shipping with Hermes £5 extra pmaczc@madasafish.com
