Petition to increase motorway speed limit from 70mph to 90mph
Agree our driving test is crap. How often do we hear "new driver are most likely to have accidents" you don't even drive on a motorway or bay park. We have loads of them round here (it's an estate on the edge of town, so quiet)crawling along working out how to use a clutch, personally I think the testing should be staged. Theory, then provisional in a safe non public place, then open roads. A bit like how you learn to scuba dive. When the people that have just passed aren't up to standard it points very clearly at the quality control, i.e. The test. The infrastructure in this country is shite, it cannot support the cars we have full stop. Last week my average speed on the way to work, a 95 mile trip each way, was less than 30mph. It's mostly, maybe 80/90% dual carriageway and national speed limit. Trains, forget them, too expensive and round here cack handed and require a different transport method to get near your destination. Buses, unless you live in Town or one it's main parts it's a nightmare. In fact we only just got a bus route back after it was cancelled. Most of the time they are just empty, or full of fossils that get free passes, pumping out shit for no good reason. Only busy in the summer with the forgin students. Let's not even start on our other over stretched public services. Hollands public transport is brilliant, cheap, reliable and convenient. I like the buisness they do on the motorway where the limit drops due to weather conditions.

"Why is my car on fire?" and other novice mechanic questions
They look like late style VTC to me. Although NAs got different parts earlier, revised injectors for example from 93 onwards. You can easy tell for sure, if they are VTC there will be a solenoid at the rear of the cam cover. Can't imagine that non VTC would have springs in the cam. My understanding was it was dropped then brought back.

Petition to increase motorway speed limit from 70mph to 90mph
Won't happen. It's nothing to do with safety, the roads with the highest limits are the safest and the lowest statistically the most dangerous. These days they are pushing more and more on the emissions thing as well with 50mph clean air zones, ironic really as the 20mph zones blantely cause more pollution. The green cotton wool brigade have a lot of power these days.

Viscous Fan/Engine Fan always running ?
The viscous van is supposed to be turning constantly with the engine. It contains a wax substance and a spring, the temperature of this depends on the fan speed in relation engine speed. Kinda like a gear in a way. You should be able to stop it with a piece of card on a warm engine. If you can't then it's seized.

Look the same as the ones on my spare 10Y heads.

Japspeed no longer doing exhausts?
Well there we go then. Useful to know Jeff.

Japspeed no longer doing exhausts?
I think. You will find they come in batches. The same system is sold by a few different end suppliers such as 2fast2cool.

Bits and Pieces
If the things going to be junked just go at the plenum. Soon get it off if you don't care how you do it. Take the whole fuel rail out complete, less risky if breaking them and faster. They are useful things to have.

What did you do to your zed today?
What ones where they? Some have stupid high spring rates. - - - Updated - - - Have to say I agree there. It's just a paint really.

Fan shroud (TT), engine undertray and passenger side targa handle surround.
Hi guys looking for some bits. As above I'm after; TT fan shroud, preferably complete with lower portion. Engine undertray. Not the one under the bumper but the one that sits under the engine itself. Targa handle surround, for passenger side. That's the little oval piece that sits behind the handle. Also looking for a pair of good condition front lower arms and the little brace that sits under the gearbox but not deseperate for those.

Rust inside the rear arch & brake pipes.
I find the cup style fine wheels ideal, stubborn bits require a twisted knot wheel though. Thankfully they are cheap from Screwfix/toolstation. The old crap goes EVERYWHERE though doesn't it. I've got a bit left to do down the front part of the floor pan I've been putting off.

You did say eventually...I've heard good things about Protune too. The guy I used isn't a tuner he just has a RR, I was just suggesting it as a way to check the AFRs on the Chip you using to kick off, they can vary as you know (although speciality zed ones are good and I'm looking to get one myself) and as far as I know you don't have a wideband. Rather than Nistune have you thought about going with a full standalone Ecu? Considering how much money is wrapped up in your car already a stand alone would offer greater safety features, some offer Traction control, Lambda feed back etc. Not something I can justify myself but a high end car such as yours may be worth the expense.

I think you want to be throwing some 2.5" intercooler piping and intercoolers at it as well for 450. Stock tubs certainly have their merit but they have to breath or they heat soak easy and become useless. Most of the guys making big power on stock turbos have full breather mods a custom map and are running E85. I'm running a stock long block, with turbo back exhaust with a generic chip and 16psi. There is fuel head room left but it was getting too hot when we dialling the boost in. Anyway it put down 308rwhp iirc, about 370bhp. I think you'd make about 400 on that set up, getting that extra 50bhp will require the custom map and the breather mods. If you want I can hook you up with the dyno I used to check my AFRs, he doesn't do remapping but will do a power run taking AFR for pretty cheap. Not too far from you either, Salisbury way.

450bhp on stock turbos at 17psi?

Probably be about 20kg lighter due to 5 less layers of paint! Surprised the window trims still fit.

Nice one Russ, where did you get the 99? You planning on a spoiler? I always think the LWB needs one to help balance it out.
