  1. http://www.procharge.com.au/turbotorque/6-blog/blog/117-the-turbo-blues/ I don't now how correct this chap is but its an interesting read and probably a good fault finder.

There's one occurring for the sw lot over the easter weekend, would be interesting to get your take on things over the day. im hoping to take loads of pictures and do a full write up on the day anyways.
  3. thought id update this, driven the car a fair bit this weekend, the smoke on deceleration has now stopped. 3rd and 2nd gear overruns from 50/60mph and not a hint.... what I am stil getting a touch of though is that characteristic grey smoke, after prolonged hot idle(cold idle its fine) if your stop start in traffic for example there is a small amount of grey smoke, looks like a cigarettes been left in the exhaust, then if you roll forward and stop you get a small roll of smoke, you can smell its oily, and it clears almost instantly. However if I turn my aircon on, the problem magically disappears. To me this sounds like my rebuilt turbos are still letting by the tiniest portion of oil. However ive still only got 200 odd miles on the clock, since the rebuild. I Think I'm going to consider refitting some sort of cat or extra silencer to build some backpressure back into the exhaust system, the problem is tiny but im a bit picky. All things being equal il be fitting some gt525s in about 18 months anyways, if all goes to plan :) going for new chra this time though not rebuilt ones.
  4. id love an ls1 z32 :)
  5. there is a massive spares place in the states I watched a prog on them, apparently the exterior panels are made from brushed stainless steel, a scratch ding whatever see tha whole panel being re-polished to remove it! I think that one looks quite cool but tbh they were a bit crap, weighed a tonne and were a bit gutless by all accounts 150hp and nearly 1.3tonne that's 2.8 capri power to weight nigh on, bera in mind the capri went out of circulation in 86. Infact looking into it, it is a ford cologne v6 the same v6 fitted to the capri. massive price tag on release old fashioned v6 lump well the styling is a bit tooo robo cop. Looking at the American car market, just 2 years prior to its release Pontiac had released its 79 trans am a beautiful piece of automotive history, seriously if you'd had the cash in 1981 what would you have brought amongst the variety of imports and gmc's offerings. The cars production ran for one year and sold 9000 units, that speaks for itself.
  6. what a stonking little zed!
  7. You can use the japspeed ones, may be a touch tight if its an auto mind. If you were closer id lend you a hand, whatever you decide, if those eblows are coming off bear in mind that those studs might be a hassle to remove, so ensure they are soaked in wd40 or simular in adv as nce of you trying to remove them. Also bear in mind the possibility of the decat showing the symptoms up of leak rear oil seals.
  8. Jimmers not southern, hes practically in the midlands, if you can touch the channel its not south :) - - - Updated - - - Cant I mean damn.
  9. I mean its possibleto remove the elbow, tbh why dont you just fit some proper divorced downpipes etc.
  10. It is possibe just fiddly and you eil need to remove the turbo heat sheilds, therearprotion at least. Ive done this job twice nowin situ and I wouldnt relish a third.
  11. stock t22 turbos? sounds a bit high for them sounds more like bigger turbos
  12. http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.raracing1.com/Gallery/HeadZ32/004.jpg&imgrefurl=http://forums.nicoclub.com/swimshark-j30-build-lots-of-pics-t510625-60.html&h=2400&w=3200&sz=1194&tbnid=Dz_Vuc-xFdoB7M:&tbnh=91&tbnw=121&prev=/search%3Fq%3D300zx%2Bfront%2Bmount%2Bturbos%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=300zx+front+mount+turbos&usg=__QG3LcoY4E4wxInfZ5Yl9CfG6MVM=&docid=EgITQcWbckS3nM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=6FtEUbiqDOip0QX6_oHoAQ&ved=0CC8Q9QEwAA&dur=50 how about that? not the one I was thinking of but still.
  13. Theres plenty of people running over 500 in the us one running 800 on sock internals, and one chap running frint mounted tubs il dig.it.up later
  14. Theres a thread with a vid of mine when I had issues.
  15. I wouldnt say thats definatly it, uou still not even said what colour it is. Lots of variables as I said. But yes the top cam covers are baffled to stop that.
  16. The front pcvs that vent from the top cam covers do very little drinking of oil, inside they're extensively baffled, that's why Nissan only put in a washer type restrictor. So id say that's unlikely that's your problem. If your experiencing grey smoke after periods of prolonged idle and it clears at over say 2500 rpm, its quite possibly your turbo exhaust seal :( is the car decatted by any chance?
  17. There are lots of causes for oil burning in the zed, pcvs as you know, the car will also suck oil up on hard turns because of the pcv pickups location. you could also be pulling il up from the turbos, if the front seal has failed fully or partially, valve stems, oil rings etc etc etc. Process of elimation im afraid, what colour is the smoke? and when how does it occur? those two things will help greatly in diagnosis.
  18. So valve stems were good? The gasket kit was at fault?
  19. I would be suprised if zcenrre japspeed or 2fast2cool ones are different products, theyre so simular an suprisingly go in out of stock at the same times.
  20. Great, thinking about it, if was a case of old ones the block would have smoked like a pig, so its probably a case of improper fitting.
  21. Sadly you need a bloody good spanner or pref a crows foot, theyre quite big like 21mm cant remember, be prepared to heat them up to be able to remove
  22. They may not have fitted them properly, so the stem seals popped out of place. Troubld is there so hidden in thhe head, not like an old ford pinto sohc or crossflow :( feel for you bud. Is it only on the number 6 exhaust valve? Both, one or more?
  23. I wouldnt go stripping the heads down bud, give them a call before you go any further, they need to be shown its not been done. Then id be on the blower to citizens advice, you paid, you didnt receive thread carefully and they wont have a leg to stand on.
  24. I believe yh he pita bit is the piece from the the turbo front to the acordion pipe, because of the restriction, the stock ones are a damn funny shape.
