The rs6 has gone and ive got the itch.....
The numbers are dropping, prices are in the rise, we've been saying it for a while now. Winter is where you might get lucky a pick up that bargain with someone who thinks it's only an old jap car with buttons but with the likes of ebay these days those are rarer. The better examples will sell in summer when they can get good money for them, there mostly wrapped up safe and dry right now. I think the scrapping of a zed for a rusty arch days are numbered, if you've got one already look after it because in ten years you might not want to pay for another.

Is it worth the aggro?
I'd love to use the front stock ones as rears, mostly for ascetics really. The ways I've seem this done though it looks gash. Then there's brake balance issues etc etc. Headaches.

pipe question
It's alright buddy, I know how easy it is to mis read or mis write things. A voice changes the meaning of things at times.

Lots if info out there on this, I was going to swap to scooby rear brembos for that reason, decided against it.

Yeah as Noel says I think you have misread what I was saying, or maybe I haven't explained myself properly?

pipe question
Is he a mate? As in like the work will be done for beer tokens? I'm sure in your line of work you know plenty of coded pipewelders. If that's the case it's just a question if speaking your mate, telling him what you want and letting him crack on.
-
How low can you go?
Yeah, I like that. I was a bit dubious in the mid stage il admit. The transition between rear arch and door put me off, however now the primer is on it blends FAR better and reveals itself as a complete line. Top notch stuff and currently I'd say the best wide arch I've seen.

pipe question
You need a kit for 2.5" intercooler piping, z1 and others sell these. Then you will mostly likely need to custom make the portion that converts from SMIC to FMIC, as far as I'm aware no one makes an on the shelf kit for what your asking. Making the kit yourself from 2.5" tube will require lots of fabrication time and the ability to weld. Simply coupling up sections of tube with silicone couplers every few inches will create nightmares for generations, think of all those potential leak points. Again as far as I'm aware a 3" version isn't available or required. 2.5" intake kits are what has been designed and made by the expert tuners. - - - Updated - - - Didn't you say mark is doing the work for you?

intermittent fuelling/stalling issues?...
A PM? If you want mate, you can pop over, next weekend should be ok. Then we can work through the things suggested if your not comfortable doing them on your own and perform a boost leak test as well.

Tools of the day
I dunno If you will be able to on your turbos, but I can slip my arm down by the brake master with a few things removed and do it up with a screw driver. Corse it also depends wether the person who fitted it originally though about it, and didn't go putting it backwards round the back or some annoying configuration.

MOT Pass!
Yeah does my head in that. The chap I use is very fair and mallows me to use the time it's in the air to have a good visual inspection myself. He knows I'm a touch fussy.

MOT Pass!
Hooky mot then? :p

actuators ?
Pressure gauge and a pump with an attachment. Apply pressure and you will soon see it open.

Welding Porn!
Probably not gaz, robots tend to not care about a pretty weld and go for sheer strength, a good penatratrive weld. On a few if those you can see the stop start marks were that particular run has started and finished, because of the angle they have had to life reposition, rearc and go. So lovely work though, known a fair few blokes that are able to weld to that level.

Red Z project.
Sorry misread that, I read that as you had hit a rock with one of the stock ones and were told to replace it with a front mount.

ive bought somthing sensable ?
Pretty much. I just think it's hilarious how two companies can both buy the same parts from the same Chinese manufacturer one sells cheap but pays little attention to quality control the other charges double or triple and choose to paint it a different colour. The former gets slagged to hell and the second is considered a quality product :s it's the shame shit just a different colour!? The other one that is laughable is, china can't make quality. Yes they can they make near on ******* everything.

ive bought somthing sensable ?
There are issues with those too tbh. But many parts are generally ok, the bad publicity of there "little" cock ups and their way of handing it afterwards is the kicker. They make SOME ok bits, you get what you pay for and their stuff is cheap.

ive bought somthing sensable ?
Hrm...I'm sure it will be fine. Lots of people have those without issue.

Red Z project.
Why don't you just replace the broken intercooler with a second hand stock one for now. Cheap and proper fix. You certinatly don't need a FMIC.

Turbo rebuild
I was under the impression that unless you had them balanced you were wasting your time? One of mine was tighter than the other but they both rotated extremely smoothly. I also took a 5ml syringe and injected clean oil a few times into the turbo oil feed. I dunno if that was right or wrong but it just seemed like a half good idea before firing the engine up. Don't forget to crank the engine over to get some oil circulating before you fire it up for the first time.
