  1. Same here! My japspeed decats needed a lump hammer and a block of wood to fit my manual. They're fine now though.
  2. +1 I've had some work done by boldy before and he's got my zed at the moment doing another job. I really recommend him too.
  3. I'm pretty sure 5.25 inch speakers fit straight in, although it was a few years ago since I replaced mine. I fitted some JBL speakers, they were only about £25 a pair. They sound good, but I have got a hidden amp and sub, which means they don't have to handle any bass.
  4. Thanks for the reply. Is the U.S. the only place to get them from? Do the rose jointed type affect road noise or ride harshness?
  5. My tension rod bushes are showing signs of deterioration and I wondered what the best replacement option was? I've read about a lot of issues with polybushes causing suspension damage over time. My car isn't lowered, so I don't see much point going for adjustable rods. Are oem bushes the way to go?
  6. I assume a lot of what is being said is related to Noel? I had my car mapped by him around 18 months ago and I haven't had any issues. I have to admit that this thread has made me feel somewhat paranoid!
  7. It's not ideal, but it works and it doesn't knock or vibrate at all! The other option is to take it to a decent exhaust fabricators. I had a decat cut and re-welded so that it fitted my 200sx properly. It was quite reasonable too.
  8. Mine was originally an auto which has been converted to a manual, so there might be some truth in the autos being different. Mine were catching on the edge of the transmission tunnel, I don't think a Jack would have helped. They're very strong being stainless, so I wouldn't fancy jacking them against the car. I found some heat, a lump hammer and a block of wood worked okay, once you get over the initial fear of hammering your shiny new pipes!
  9. I fitted japspeed decats to mine just over a week ago. The passenger side fitted fine except for the bracket, but the drivers side fouled the floor of the car. I had it off a few times and had to 'adjust' it with a blow lamp and lump hammer. It's fine now. I didn't think it was too bad considering the price.
  10. I've done exactly that when I changed the brake pipes on my Volvo. I put some wet rags around the lines to keep everything cool and applied some heat with a blow lamp. Worked a treat along with some wd40.
  11. Just did mine using Jeff's recommendation and it has sealed nicely.
  12. Thanks. I did wonder that, but I was a bit concerned about kinks where it bends. I don't suppose anyone knows the inside diameter of the hose?
  13. Whilst replacing my cats, I noticed my oil cooler hose is leaking where it joins the hard pipe. I wanted to replace both of the hoses in the diagram (21355mb and 21355mc). Does anyone know if these are available in the UK, from anywhere other than Nissan? I did notice Z1 sell them if I can't get them over here.
  14. They were delivered 14 hours after I ordered them. They are japspeed decats. They came with all 4 gaskets and nuts and bolts for where they join the exhaust. The ad states no gaskets or fixings, which is annoying because I've just ordered a set. To fit the passenger side just required the bracket to be bent slightly. The drivers side needed 'coaxing' with a lump hammer and a block of timber to clear the corner of the transmission tunnel. They are only slightly louder than the cats, which is ideal, because I didn't want the car any louder.
  15. Will do. I'm not sure when it will all arrive, so it may not be until next weekend.
  16. Cheers, that sounds pretty obvious now you've explained it like that. I guess it's time to cross my fingers!
  17. Cheers Jeff Shall I just buy flat gaskets like these? http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-300zx-2-5-Exhaust-Manifold-Downpipe-3-Bolt-Gasket-/190988429906?nav=SEARCH
  18. Cheers. I've already got some assembly paste and I've ordered some gaskets to replace the ones at the rear.
  19. Cheers guys, it is a j spec, so I'll get it ordered. Do I need gaskets where they mate with the turbo elbows? There weren't any on the cats and I'm fairly sure that's how it left the factory. I just need to buy some cream now, to put on my burns from drilling the studs out!
  20. Cheers that's put my mind at rest a bit. The other bit they concerned me was the statement that they don't fit cars with pre cats. Does my car have pre cats?
  21. It states that they will fit turbo's and non turbo's in the ad. They look similar to what I've removed, but I know that doesn't guarantee anything!
  22. I was after some advice. I've just removed the cats from my 1989 tt manual, because they're blowing. I wondered if these would fit? http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-300ZX-Z32-TURBO-NON-TURBO-STAINLESS-STEEL-DE-CAT-DECAT-DOWNPIPE-EXHAUST-/230713275628?nav=SEARCH It concerned me that the ad states that they won't fit cars with pre cats. I've always been wary of removing the cats in case it reveals any turbo issues. There is no sign of any oil in the turbo elbows, is this a promising sign?
  23. I had my pearl white bumper sprayed by Boldy on here, the colour match is spot on. I'm sure he'd be able to match whatever colour you choose.
  24. When I've changed cam belts on other cars, I've just put them in top gear with the handbrake on and undone the crank pulley bolt. Wouldn't this work on the zed?
  25. I removed the carbon canister on mine a few years ago and it's caused no issues whatsoever.
