  1. I was thinking about the sill. It might be worth removing the rear 3 quarter trim inside the car, you should be able to see inside the sills and tell what condition they're in, iirc.
  2. I would think that might need to be cut out and fresh metal welded in, they often rust from the inside out. As you're going to all that trouble I'd make sure it's done right. I'm no expert though!
  3. I've got a certain amount of play in mine, too. I'm sure Jeff wrote a guide on it, it's often caused by wear in the pivot bush on the pedal itself.
  4. I came across it by accident, I can't ever remember a car being slated so much! I'm trading up to an Austin Allegro!
  5. http:// http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=163495&st=0 I take it no one read this before they bought their zed! Mine's up for sale now!
  6. I think you want about 12 ohms. 10 - 14 ohms!
  7. The mode selector is recessed in a hole and it is possible to miss it with a screwdriver and put it to one side of the screw, if it's in situ on the car and you can't see it very well.
  8. You can check the basic operation of the solenoid by putting 12volts across it and listening for a click, although yours sounds like it's working to some degree. I had my profec b controller repaired by a company on eBay for £66. The solenoid can be bought separately, I bought one some time ago for around £60.
  9. Cheers for the replies, I've just ordered some tardis off eBay. Strangely, the tape was bought from an automotive paint supplier and made by 3M. I did leave it on over two weeks though!
  10. I've been doing a bit of touching up of the bodywork on my old volvo workhorse and it appears I've left the masking tape on too long! It looks like some of it will be a nightmare to remove, especially the glue residue. Has anyone got any top tips, apart from not leaving it on so long!?
  11. You're probably right, I just wanted to be able to take it apart and fix it without having to wait for parts!
  12. No, the battery is really strong, it's not that old.
  13. My remote central locking has stopped working. The lights still flash but neither door opens. I can hear a very faint noise as if the drivers door solenoid is trying to work. If I open the drivers door with the key, the passenger door opens as it should. Am I right in thinking that it's probably the drivers door solenoid that's knackered?
  14. You won't really lose any pressure with uprated intercoolers, the only slight downside is that their larger volume means they will take slightly longer to pressurise resulting in slightly more turbo lag. It's so small I doubt you'd notice it, I couldn't when I changed mine. I definitely noticed an improvement in performance though.
  15. I might just bite the bullet and buy one. The cheapest i can find on ebay is £72, does anyone know anywhere cheaper to buy one?
  16. Does anyone know if it's possible to test my profec b solenoid, as I'm sure its causing a boost issue I've got? The boost controller has worked perfectly since I fitted it 18 months ago, until recently. The car initially started boosting a lot higher than normal, so i adjusted the settings, which had no effect. I turned the controller off and still had the same problem. I've bypassed the solenoid now and the car is fine again, but obviously only running standard boost. The display appears to be operating okay, so is there a way of confirming it's the solenoid?
  17. There is a bodge it option for fellow cowboys out there! Loosen the nut, but leave it on a few threads. Leave the spanner on the nut. Wrap some wire of some sort around the spanner and wiper arm. Lever against the spanner using a hammer or crowbar. The nut has a lip which the spanner sits on. It needed a fair amount of force, but it worked a treat for me.
  18. Mine has had a one piece on it since I've had it (over 2 years). I've had no problems or vibration from it. I can see why you might think there could be issues with them, I've wondered about that myself!
  19. I was going to try this option but I couldn't find a brick! I've decided to go and get the spare keys instead!
  20. I've locked my keys in my car, I don't suppose anyone could pm me an easy way to get in? I have got spares, it's just a load of trouble to get them!
  21. I had a similar problem a couple of years ago, it was a missing grommet. I can't remember if it was under the seat or behind the rear quarter panels now.
  22. Thanks for all of the advice, I'll post on here again once I've got it sorted.
  23. That was my first thought, but the form states that I'm not allowed to use anyone who has worked on the car and Zedworld have.
  24. Anyone know a good place to get a valuation on my car for the insurance company?
  25. I notice it's sorted now, thanks. Do you still need the paypal number?
