  1. Yeah, well if you understand that all their developers, and QA people for that matter, are permanently in crunch mode, which means stupid 60 - 80 hour weeks, you'd understand why nothing works properly. I defy anyone to tell me they can write decent code, or test anything properly, after working those sorts of hours. Reason why I don't work in the games industry #1. Know how you feel though: it's *very* annoying when all you want to do is relax for a while and the thing just won't work properly.
  2. Yeah, not too clever on a public road. Who drifts round a curve on a sliproad full of traffic? Who does over 100mph in a bus lane?!?
  3. Agreed. He's entitled to his opinion, as is everyone else. I like the zed (obviously), and the Evo's OK, but I *hate* Impreza's, MR2s look very dated now (I mean the ones that were actually a proper sports car), Supras ... well they're a bit more tricky, some I like and some I don't, and GTOs... well again, most of them look grim, but then there was a gorgeous P reg black one parked outside the Chinese round the corner from us last night. Seriously turned my head. But it's all just my opinion, and I'm not expecting anyone else to agree with it: we've all got different tastes. And I can kind of see his point: I love my zed, but it doesn't half get up my nose sometimes.
  4. Yep, have to agree with this... very much the point of the R in RX7.
  5. That thing is becoming a legend. It's been posted on here at least three or four times since I joined. Gets worse every time I see it. ;)
  6. Nice one mate... there's always something very satisfying about handing in your resignation (well, unless you're David Blunkett I suppose).
  7. Cheers for that bud; that sounds perfect. :)
  8. Nice one mate... think I need some more power... nyaaa!!!!!!!!!
  9. OK, I'm in. Question is: how do you pay if you don't have PayPal (and don't want it)? Anyone got a bank account I can chuck a fiver at? Thanks, Bart
  10. Er yeah, I was thinking just that same thing. Might be worth him pursuing once he's slightly less fed up. At any rate, I'll be checking mine before I next start the car.
  11. Blimey!!! Sounds like the same thing that happened to legrath, except that you've come off an awful lot worse. Just glad you're in one piece.
  12. All the best mate. Like others have said, never met you, but hope it all works out. Cheers, Bart

Aye, all the best with it mate!
  14. New Supra looks good... but where are the turbos eh? ;)
  15. Very nice indeed! Where did you get those floormats from?
  16. Excellent!! That sounds great. I want one!
  17. Just when you think you've heard everything: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/4842634.stm
  18. Si, gutted to hear this. Reading your posts is making me itchy to get rid of mine... and it's basically fine, but if I had to get a new engine... I dunno. Wouldn't be very happy that's for sure. Even with mine it needs the clutch and prop-shaft bearing replacing (I've got the parts already, just need to get it booked in), and that's all just really standard wear and tear. Whatever happens, I hope you get it all sorted out. To be fair I think all performance cars are a bit like this: expensive to put right when they go wrong... as to whether or not they go wrong as often as the zed I don't know. I did find myself thinking "Why didn't I buy a Supra?" the other day, what with Toyota being supposedly extremely reliable... however then I saw one and looked at a few pictures of them and realised it was because they are in fact ugly, dated, and have a horrible interior (despite the mystique they still have in my mind - apologies to any Supra owners BTW)... oh yeah, and there aren't that many really good examples around. The zed looks like a car from its era (early 90s), but it looks like a cool and stylish car from its era, and that's part of why I like it: retro and stylish, but not really dated. My advice is: forget about it for the weekend, just relax, go out and have some fun, and worry about it next week. You'll then have a much better perspective on it whatever you decide to do. At the end of the day it's been in the state its in for quite a while now so a couple of days extra won't make much difference. Anyway, hope you get it all sorted out OK. Cheers, Bart
  19. This is also a very good idea.
  20. This could be a couple of things. Firstly it might be the websites you're looking at have got some nasties embedded in them that try to take advantage of browser vulnerabilities to hijack your PC. Only advice is to be a bit more choosy about what you're looking at. The other possibility is that you're being scanned by PCs that are part of some botnet and that are looking for a vulnerability to take advantage of to infect your PC. If that's the case then getting a router with builtin firewall should significantly reduce it because if you set it up right (most of) the worms' port scans won't get past your firewall. I've got the full Norton IS 2005 Pro suite (probably have to upgrade again soon) along with a hardware router including a firewall, and this only happens to me very occasionally.
  21. Take a look in the traders' section, give Mike Feeney (MJP Eastern Auto) a call - you might be better off getting the whole thing, although it depends how quickly you need it: comes over from the States in a ship so no good if you're in a hurry.
  22. Yep, that's deffo the prop-shaft. Get a new one from Mike Feeney (MJP Eastern Auto)... takes a few weeks to come through but he can get the complete thing (not just the centre bearing) for a really good price. Normally the centre bearing on its own is £140 + VAT or so, but Mike does the whole lot for two hundred and something plus VAT. Very worthwhile IMHO. I've got mine from him but not had it fitted yet as my mechanic friend hasn't had any spare time recently.
  23. That is a very good point. I quite literally nearly crapped my pants when I let my best mate drive my zed: I wasn't at all worried about the car -- I mean if the worst comes to the worst it's just a car and you can get another one -- no, I was just certain we were going to die.
  24. Don't you just get all the fun jobs? Just keep your head down and be careful. September'll come round in no time.
  25. Yeah, he's talking crap... and in any case, you'll hit the limiter, which might be at 7200 as Legrath says, but I actually have a suspicion that it may be as low as 6800 rpm. Then again, maybe someone who knows a bit more should comment on this. At any rate 9000 rpm = very bad indeed -- I don't think even Mac's car rev's this high (isn't his red line around 8.5k or something like that) and he's spent a truckload of cash on it.
