  1. Very good site sniffpetrol. The Rover and BMW ads are definitely the best - will see if I can find the Rover one. There's also a great one for GT4 on the PS2 somewhere on there.
  2. Bad news bud. Sorry to hear it's all gone so badly wrong. FWIW though I think you're doing the right thing in cutting your losses.
  3. That's what I thought. People are just randomly losing control. That bus was pretty scary though, as was the lorry.
  4. I saw AS02 BED on an M3 convertible once.
  5. Oh yeah, don't use additives. Everything I've ever read about oil by anybody who really knows about it says don't bother. For example, try this: http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html
  6. Depends on your mileage. (This is not a plug, and I'm not affiliated with Opie in any way.) Simon at Opie (Oilman) recommends Silkolene Pro S 10w50 which is what I use. Think that's his recommendation if your car has less than 100k miles on it, not sure if it changes above that. All I can say is that my car runs great on it.
  7. Strewth! Surely you could do all three cars at once on those? I think mine are only 3 tons from memory, but like you I was a bit nervous about getting under the car the first time I did it so can understand where you're coming from.
  8. All the best mate. Keep your head down and watch your back. We'd like you back in one piece.
  9. I'm quite a fan... or at least discovered I quite liked him fairly recently when my mate was playing some of his stuff in the car on the way to France. Bristol's a bit out of the way for me though unfortunately. Enjoy the gig mate.
  10. The reg plate definitely isn't the best thing to go on: I've got a K-plate, which is a series 2 with seatbelts on pillars etc. Only way to tell is by looking. It is pretty crazy that you can get away with saying a '90 is a '94 though. Just goes to show it's worth knowing what you're looking for on the different series models.
  11. Even a stock zed (TT) would waste a stock GTO. You must leave him miles behind.
  12. Yeah, obviously haven't read the owners manual which clearly states that Octane 95 and above is just fine, and that for short periods if nothing else is available Octane 92 is OK as long as you drive gently.
  13. Sounds a bit James Bond. Interesting idea though.
  14. Hmm... I'm pretty sure dipped beam should go off when you switch on main beam.
  15. Generally boost kicks in at 2500rpm or thereabouts. The effect is particularly pronounced in first gear if you pull of with exceptionally low revs (i.e. nearly stalling the car), and then boot it. The engine will climb steadily to 2500 rpm and the car will accelerate very unimpressively even if floored, then the turbos will kick in, boost will suddenly rise, and all hell will break loose as your rear tyres light up and the back end goes mad. I've been caught out by that more than once.
  16. I'd say it's probably down to Windows. Refit it and do as I suggest above. You should see it in the list and you'll just need to register it with Windows and assign a volume label. Then it will start to appear under My Computer again. If it's not appearing in Windows then it may be some sort of hardware problem with the BIOS or the motherboard. However, before blaming either of those you should try it with (i) a different power connector cable (unless you've got loads of stuff in there, there should be at least one suitable spare on your PSU), and (ii) a different IDE cable (assuming it's an IDE drive), and obviously a combination of the two. Then, if after that you're still getting no joy, like I say, it's likely to be an issue with the BIOS settings, in which case you'll need to fiddle with the IDE configuration, or the motherboard, and specifically the IDE controller or connectors, or some associated component. All the best with it mate. Cheers, Bart
  17. Actually Vauxhalls have been thoroughly German since the 70s I think... and I guess now they're technically American now. Sorry, I appear to have inadvertantly donned my anorak this morning. But actually, maybe that's even more bizarre. I don't know. But come on.... how many of us have done a similar thing at some point? I didn't have a car until I was 24, but if I'd had one before I'm sure I would have done something pretty daft with it. Everyone else where I grew up did. It was wall to wall Kevved up Astra GTEs, Fiesta Mk Is, and battered old Mk II Escorts.
  18. TBH I've seen a lot worse. Not my taste at all, but if he likes it what's the big deal? Biggest problem with that is the wheels now look too small.
  19. Well, the drive could be knackered, however if it's not, and the BIOS is still picking it up (worth checking it hasn't been disabled in there due to a cosmic ray strike or something daft like that). Assuming the above, then (on XP) go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management. Then expand the tree to Computer Management (local) > Storage > Disk Management. Once you've got that node highlighted after a few seconds the panel on the right will show you all your disk drives. Your second drive should appear somewhere in this list, but it most likely won't have a volumn label (C: etc) assigned to it. You can do that through this interface, although I can't remember exactly how so you'll need to fiddle with it a bit (be careful though). As I said, this all assumes the drive isn't screwed, and is picked up by the BIOS. If you're on Win2000 I think the node in the tree under storage is called "Volume Management" rather than "Disk Management". I suspect NT 4 would be a very similar deal, although I can't imagine most people running that on their home machine. Win95/98/ME are a different matter though and I'm afraid I can't help you there. Anyway, hope that helps. Cheers, Bart
  20. Yeah, I did wonder about that too. I'm assuming the injured party decided they could walk? Bit odd though.
  21. Check out this Jag on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4613207988#ebayphotohosting You need to read the story. *If* it's true, and if I was the owner (and assuming he didn't do something really stupid like go off somewhere leaving the guy in the back with the car locked and child locks on etc) I'd be absolutely fuming. Imagine that happening to your zed.
  22. Excellent. Will take a proper look at it when I get home. Just fired up Sonic and it seemed to work OK.
  23. Like that a lot actually. Looks good front and rear - nice and subtle, but fits nicely with the lines of the car. Shame (i) it's probably not for sale, and (ii) I can't afford it anyway. Oh well.
  24. I know the colour you mean and it did look good on the Manta. Doesn't suit every car, but it certainly suited that.
