  1. Nice. And if there are any email addresses on the page, send 'em 10000 messages just to teach them a lesson too.
  2. You just need to set up your scheduled task right and it should work fine, even when you're not logged in. I will admit that it can be a bit of a PITA though.
  3. You could just set up scheduled tasks in Windows to handle it via Start > Control Panel > Scheduled Tasks.
  4. What language you want this in bud?
  5. Software engineer. Work for these guys: http://www.red-gate.com. For the most part I enjoy it, which is more than quite a few people I know unfortunately so I consider myself pretty lucky. Gets a bit stressful when deadlines loom sometimes, but apart from that it's pretty peachy.
  6. I think Nelson's being a *bit* cynical... however FWIW, my gut feeling is you should walk away.
  7. Looks familiar. Might have been on Autotrader a while back or something. I'm assuming it's an NA. From the pics it looks in good nick (apart from the vile steering wheel) but you need to get some very high-res ones from him to be sure. I always wonder when then pics on eBay aren't that great. I know it's pretty pricey to host on there, but you can always post a link or something.
  8. Cheers mate, beat you to it and had a look last night. Still weighing up the flywheel issue, but yeah, RPS seems to be the way to go. Think I'll avoid the 6-puck job though. Seen the other thread. :)
  9. Cheers bud, I'll give it a go. What's happening with your car? Any joy with the insurance?
  10. Thanks Jack. Maybe I'll do a bit of research into "AIV", whatever that might be... does ring a bell for some reason. Must have seen it mentioned on here. Cheers, Bart
  11. Thanks guys. I'm not really planning on any major modding... more than anything I know original parts can be very pricey so was wondering if an RPS clutch might be a better option. I'll probably give MJP a ring tomorrow. Is there anything I'd need to be aware of if I went down the flywheel replacement route as well? How big a job is it exactly if you have to replace the clutch anyway? Cheers, Bart
  12. Nice. Very clean looking. Looks like you've picked a good one there. Change the carpets though... I'm not even sure what colour that's supposed to be.
  13. I noticed just over a week ago that the clutch bite point seemed to be a bit higher than it should be. Thought at first it was my imagination, but wasn't entirely sure. Next time I'll trust my instincts I think. Anyway, driving along this morning I noticed that if I was going at 70 or 80 in 4th or 5th and then booted it the revs would suddenly jump about 1000rpm, then drop back down and start steadily climbing again as the car accelerates. This was particularly obvious in 4th gear at 80mph (almost exactly 4000rpm). The revs jumped to around 5000rpm and then down to 4200 or so before steadily climbing. So anyway, new clutch. The car is still quite driveable at the moment although obviously I want to get this sorted pretty quickly. So what's the recommendation on stock clutch replacement? Is it better/cheaper to get some sort of upgrade? Or should I just replace with the stock part? What do others recommend? Thanks, Bart
  14. If you've got any kind of degree then I'd recommend a post-grad diploma or MSc in Computer Science or IT. Doesn't matter too much what your degree is in (there were people with art, english, business, and all kinds of miscellaneous stuff on the course I did). Loads of universities around the country run these kind of courses and they're often quite well-regarded by employers. You can probably even find courses that are part-time if you need to. It's also worth looking at whether funding is available for a given course: I managed to get funding for mine (wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise). Finally you need to consider exactly what you want to do it IT: software development, systems administration, network engineering etc. I'd say things like MCSE, Sun certification etc are pretty useful, but only if you've got some sort of diploma or degree to go with them, and also only if you've got some kind of hard industrial experience to back it up with. They're also pretty pricey if you need to be self-funding, although learning from the books rather than going on training courses is a lot cheaper, and something I'd recommend. If you've got to shell out for something I'd recommend a course in further/higher education as these tend to teach you concepts rather than specific technologies, which in the long run is much better because technologies always become obsolete. It also means that you'll have a much better understanding of computer systems in general than just taking an MCSE.
  15. Gutted for you mate. That's one sweet looking car you've got there. Main thing is, as others have pointed out, that you got out OK. Cars can be fixed or replaced. Best thing is to see what the insurance company has to say and have a couple of beers to celebrate not getting hurt as it could have been so much worse. Cheers bud, Bart
  16. Hi everyone, Car's done this about three times now so I think it's fair to say there's some sort of issue developing. When started after being used earlier in the day when not completely cold the idle feels "lumpy". Happens at around 1000 - 1200 rpm. The engine tickover is regular and doesn't stutter, but you can feel a vibration through the whole car in time with it. Only lasts a couple of minutes and then idle becomes perfectly smooth as normal with no vibration. Doesn't happen either when the engine is completely cold after being left over night, or when it's started when already warm. Running climate control or not makes no difference. Car is a LWB series 2 '93 manual TT. I guessed it could be a cylinder not firing or something like that, but that's a fairly random guess, in which case I suppose it could be either a fueling or ignition problem. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bart
  17. (3) or (4) if you've got the £££ to do it (it's what I'd do).... and have a bit more faith in yourself. I'm sure it'll be just fine.
  18. Indeed, but getting something for free by circumventing its license protection when you should be paying for it is *not* "saving money". It's theft. Like I say, £16 is nothing. It's shareware though so you're entirely within your rights to download and run the software within its trial period, but beyond that, if you like it and want to continue using it you should pay for it.
  19. No, I'm not saying that at all. Just that nowadays, and having seen things from both sides of the fence probably helps a bit, I choose to pay. How quickly would you name and shame someone on this forum (rightly too) if they failed to pay for something you sold them? This is shareware. You *can* try before you buy anyway, however continuing to use the product is a tacit agreement that you do like it, and so should pay. Erm... OK, whatever. Look, I'm not trying to pick a fight, but piracy is theft. Whether you like that fact or not is irrelevant. Whether you agree or not is irrelevant. It's theft, pure and simple. Furthermore offering that crack is a direct contravention of the 300zx.co.uk AUP which specifically mentions "The advertising and sale of illegal bootleg material (such as copyrighted video, music and computer software)".
  20. Maybe in your sector of the industry. Not in mine bud. It costs a shedload to make one of our tools by the time you factor in design, development, QA, marketing, sales team etc, and everything we do is cheap at around $300. Piracy is theft, like it or not, so no, I won't get over it. And if you don't like it, tough. I didn't say any of that because I thought it would make me popular.
  21. This is likely to make me very unpopular very quickly on here but this really gets up my nose. I write software for a living and this kind of crap is precisely what puts people like me out of work. How many of you don't like to be paid for a job you've done? The guys behind this cool piece of software have clearly worked their asses off to turn it into the polished product it is and you're ripping them off. That program represents literally thousands of man hours of effort on somebody's part, for which they're entitled to some recompense if you want to take advantage of it. It's $28 for crying out load, which at today's prices is about £16. Considering how much we spend modding and maintaining our cars, or even on fuel it's nothing. Also, considering how much time people on this forum spending bitching about "thieving chav scum", scroungers, freeloaders, benefit frausters et al it's a bit bloody hypocritical to then all rip off some software company wouldn't you say? And "But I can't afford £16" isn't an excuse. Would you nick a CD from HMV cos you can't afford £16? If you can't afford £300 for a new spoiler do you go and nick one from somebody else's car? In any case, if you can afford to run a zed, you can bloody well afford £16. Download it, play with it: if you like it, pay for it, same as you would for anything else. FFS. /rant over
  22. Yeah, if not well looked after they're *very* expensive to put right. Worth spending a bit more for a decent one IMO, although there are one or two on here who've been lucky enough to pick up real bargains.
  23. Yeah, that's exactly what mine looked like after hitting that lump of road debris on the A14, only worse. Mine needed replacement, his doesn't look as bad but if I was buying the car I'd still want something done about it.
  24. That's not entirely accurate. Somebody local posted about the poor state of the road in question, and how it was completely insane to be doing that kind of speed on it. Not to mention the fact he was uninsured. I'm not necessarily saying lock him up, but some form of punishment in the form of fine/points/ban etc is probably appropriate in both cases.
  25. Yeah, got to agree. He's asked for this really.
