  1. budget at the time, I saw a few GTR owners were happily running 255's front and rear on wider wheels than mine with no complaints so assumed it wouldn't have a major issue. Indeed at normal daily speeds and driving there isn't any problems.
  2. I'm quite lucky to have a few abandoned runways near where I live, and a few hugely long private roads (not a joke here, I could even googlemap them!) so like to indulge in the odd bit of high-speed tomfoolery. I've noticed a problem recently though, the car used to feel stable up to 170+mph, now at 145-150mph the cars gets quite unstable, if feels like the front becomes very light, what could be the reason for this? The only changes I've made are switching from FK452 245 front, 275 rear to Nankang (sorry, but money was tight) 235/255 rear. I also changed the front bumper from the pre-facelift to the post-facelift, and removed the rear spoiler. I'm going to assume it's the tyres, as the 'kangs are only rated for 155 and aren't renound for their grip, but could the bumper or lack of spoiler cause any downforce issues?
  3. I'm not too sure mate, I used 9 as the illumination, and the live/earth came off the headunit (CD player). as it can be fed through into that compartment, ill see if I can take a pic of how the gauge sits :)
  4. Wicked pic!! Looks gorgeous! ... Definitely back to the touring season. By the way Boomin, your car is amazing, just gone through your garage section.. who made your 8 point cage? Looks mint!
  5. Wouldn't it be fantastic having a VG in a 240/260z.. mmm ... let's see pictures then of your new beast :)
  6. Woo - go the lude! Here's my old one and current one -
  7. Got the live and ground and rpm done .. now to try and nab that illumination wire from the back of the gauges... what a pain in the ass it is getting plugs out the back of the gauges in situ, and trying to squeeze my head between it and the windshield. Need to have it finished as soon as I go home today so I can take it for the mot re-test. Fun fun fun
  8. Yep matches the tach wire colour from the ECU... now to find a live / illumination and ground wire! The joys of wiring in confined awkward spaces..
  9. Hey guys, find below the cluster plugs, which number is the rpm wire do you know? I can't follow the wiring diagrams at all.
  10. Kinda puts pay to gumpert's claims of the amount of downforce and grip :p

  12. Here's one: http://tanakatire.web.infoseek.co.jp/kp/505_Z.html
  13. ~Sh*t there is one.. it has all of them for the Z virtually.. and I can't recall it :'(
  14. coolq.. race wars my man, be there ... and I'm buying my own shrimp :D
  15. You shouldn't race on the roads buddy it's dodgy.. at any rate, which type R are you referring to? The 2.0 is the later shape (not the latest) and they are slow as sh*t, christ a 1.6 16v crx should out perform one :tooth: The older 1.6 are lighter and probably a bit nippier, but nothing major either as standard. They are no quicker than an ITR on a straight, and ITR's aren't fast except round corners. But due to the rave press reviews have a scary fanbase who are determined they are faster than anything round a corner.. ever.. I'm more than happy to do a runway performance test of my Z against any n/a honda but I live in the highlands so will have to make do with the locals. Haha this is great I feel like a kid again :cool3:
  16. I think it's a wind-up :p 5 Z's, some pushing 500hp - and maintaining they are slow? Bs figures or Bs car :p Nothing with 500bhp is slow, there's 2 cars in the local village pushing these figures and they are easily the fastest things around for miles, the only quicker motor I can recall was a 750hp skyline 60 miles away and that lasted all of 3k miles before destroying the engine.
  17. 1/4 mile isn't any use. The Z (and supra / skyline/ infact any big cc turbo car with a 300-500hp tune) isn't going to get down the 1/4 any quicker than a stripped out 200-230hp front-wheel hatchback. There's a higly suped up VXR here, with a proven 330hp and IS quicker than my Z up to 150mph, but that's the point where most 2.0 turbo's stop performing and bigger torquier engines can continue. I'm very open minded and not biased, have gone through lots of cars and spunked more cash than I'd ever like to remind myself of (easily 30k over the years) on them, so would like to think I'm being honest and not jaded. The Z isn't the fastest car out there, anything pushing more than 350hp is likely to be faster - but after 300-400hp it's pretty much a battle of the wallets regardless of what car you have, all the technical details and differences become less significant. :) I'm sure your mates civic type R is a great laugh though and very very quick point to point
  18. There's surely something wrong with your TT buddy? 140 takes abso f* all time in mine (about 350hp or so). Power delivery in a vtec is quite poor after 3rd gear. The tt is a massive lump of torque from the ground up which surges the speed up and it carries on pulling nicely until 6.5k in 5th then peters off a little. Don't get me wrong I've had about 12 hondas so far, all barring two were vtec's and some of them really nicely done up - they are great great cars and will see off most 'normal' hot hatches and performance saloons. My current lude outpaced a local 5.0 camaro from a 50mph roll-on to 130mph by a car length, but it's not a patch on what the TT does?
  19. Some very basic points here: a) if she wants you she'll make it obvious, if she doesn't make it obvious then she doesn't and is either not interested or is playing you as she likes the attention. b) don't waste your time 'getting over' somebody, yes you can feel sad and lonely at times, but use your energy to get out there and find somebody else who likes you for who you are c) don't waste time/money going to see therapists, just take a step back for a second and look at yourself in a positive light - dont be so self concious. If you've had a decent gf once that proves you can have another. It sounds easy but just suck it up and be a man about this - get out there, don't be sat inside like a reculse all the time (that's fine once you're taken ;) ) as lots of people are doing now. Get out there and find somebody else. d) I know this sounds really cheap, but if you've got a situation where you CANT get a girl out of your mind for an extended period, there is one answer... you need to go out and have a night of fun ;) e) Do NOT long after a lost love, it's a MASSIVE turn off for a girl and will be picked up by other girls, it's a huge indicator of no confidence. Variety is the spice of life mate don't dwindle on the past- you can make your future a beautiful place to be :)
  20. Yeah but the Z makes 170 go by pretty easily :p
  21. If you want the right stuff for inside do CF overlay. It looks a billion times better than trim as it's real and isn't that expensive.
  22. Dont get me wrong, round twisties those things are lethal - but then so are a lot of cars with the right set up and tyres. The 300 is also a fantastic car round the corners with good rubber but the weight upsets it compared to a little shoebox civic. But on a straight certainly after 60-70 it wouldn't stand a chance.
  23. *oh and he's bs'ing about pushing 240hp with basic mods. Going by 'max power' or 'suggested' power gains perhaps, but I've had a few done up vtecs / B and H series and the only one close was a H series with lots of mods at 230hp. To get much further costs much much moneys so I'm highly sceptical about the suggested power of his civic. No offense to him or that but definitely something I'd sooner see proof of before believing.
