tan hill meet
Would love to head down but the cars not going to be ready by then, a couple of weeks later and I would have seriously considered it. Looking to set up a joint meet later in the year, so this could be a possibility!

Argh!! Bricking it!
Good luck bud. I know how your feeling. I just sat an assesment centre for a job a couple of weeks ago. It was an all day event involving prepairing a briefing, giving a presentation then an hour long interview at the end of it. Fookin heavy going.

About to fit new floor and sills
Good on you Redwine for trying to save the car, as others rightly point out it would probably be easier to re-shell, but then it's going to be a different car, and if you want the car for sentimental reasons then the reshell aint the way to go. Regards fitting a floor pan I would say that it would be easier to start with that then do the sill reinforcment and sills, but do you really need to replace the floor as A. its going to be a Nissan part only therefore really expensive. B. thats a major job, a lot of work and skill required. Cant you just repair the sections that need doing. Ive nearly finished my welding, only a couple of little bits to do before i start undersealing and putting it all back together. I'll try and get some more pic's to you of the work i had to do.

Nasty Noise / Movement / Vibration from Front Offside ?
Could be caused by a number of things, but first check the tie bar to bottom suspension arm mounting, if youve got uprated tension rod bushes fitted the arm has a tendancy to fracture.

Andy you beat me to the reply :D, probably just as well cause I was planning on being really cheeky!

Fookin scary, but is it warm I could do with being wrapped up in something to get a heat back into me, was out most of the afternoon welding. I got the rear chassis leg sections done, but fooked the gauges on the argon regulator, big gust of wind knocked something over which then toppled the bottle :(, at least the regulator still works i'll just judge it by the hiss of air.

Weighbridge Meet?
Look for a local VOSA weighbridge site, we have one at Stirling that is normally left on to allow HGV's to self weigh, Ive used it to weigh my daily runner and caravan. You wont get a print out, just take a pen and some paper to jot down the weights.

Z storage
Other places to think of are caravan storage, the one local to me has caravans, boats, cars, even a fire engine stored in it. might be worth calling around the ones local to you to find out if they can store the car

Car Shows and Events
Yep already considering it bud, but thought its probably best to do this towards the Autumn, away from the big shows down south. I'll message the other REO's to see what they think.

any coming back from this ?
That looks like an import model. Regards the MOT if it was carried out last June there isnt much you can do against the gatage that tested it (3 months is the limit for any disciplinary action against them). Ive got to agree with gruntpa's comments, you should have checked it over properly when buying it, rather than relying on what the seller told you. And sorry to say but looks like theres quite a bit of work needing done :(

Thanks for that Alan, I will drop her a line once I get an idea of how many are going to turn up

Failed MOT..
the pipes can be done by just lowering the subframe rather than removing it, still takes a bit of time and is awkward but can be done. no point in trying to re-route the pipes because of the location of the abs unit means you have to drop the subframe to get into it anyway.

Video of play in my diff...
Yes diffs should have a bit of play, but have you drained the oil they dont normally sound as sharp a knock as that, then again the differantials I used to deal with were a fair bit bigger than a Z's

Read the start of the thread bud ;) , planning a run Saturday 24 May up through Glencoe to Ballachulish, back down the coast towards Oban then cut back across to Tyndrum with a stop somewhere for a bar meal (unless everyone else wants a chippy, or worse sanies).
