You get too much free time at work!... yeh thought about that route before but a lot of its on the A9 .... which usually means roadworks, tail backs or speed traps. So will stick to the original plan unless you all say different..... I'm off to Bristol for the next couple of days, when I get back I will look into some eating venues. meeting points etc.
  2. Yep thought about it after I posted and came to the same conclusion, tested it by charging it up with the daily driver and found the charge dropped of once disconnected, the battery is only a year old but has not been getting recharged..... need to see if ive still got the reciept for it. Still its save me old charger from the bin :D
  3. Tied to start the Z yesterday, battery was sitting at 11.8v so put the charger on it sat all day and only went up to 12v so still wouldnt turn over the engine. Put a set of jump leads on let it sit for 5 mins and the car started. took the battery back out and put it on charge overnight. Checked it this morning and the battery has only 10.4V  Think its time to bin my 20yr old charger and buy a new one.

Thought there were going to be some cures for aches and pains to help the missus through her cold, Ive got my own remidies but she dosent want to try them.:( headache: Sook on this it will take your mind of it. sore throat: Sook on this and then you can gargle. tickly cough: Sook on this, forget the gargling just swallow. general aches and pains: back to sook on this it will take your mind of it. followed by spraying of special ointment on affected area. toothache: forget it you might grind your teeth, heres some asprin and phone the dentist.
  8. Yes... but thats whats been said above, and also best not to take a car for test until its less than a month till its current test expires. If you take it for test just under a month early then your new test expiry will be calculated on the current expiry so you will get up to a 13 month mot certificate. take it for test over 1 month early and you will only get a 12 month ticket.
  9. I've got the very removal tool, one quick everlasting fix ;)
  10. As long as youve paid for any work done there is nothing the MOT station can do to stop you driving away in the car. If the tester thinks something is too dangerous for the car to be driven any further he can only advise you.. Those defects dont come anywhere near that situation........ another case of main dealers being tossers :D
  11. looks like they were set up
  12. I take back the advice on new fuel cap ( sorry too late I know, youve ordered one) Just had a weired occurence with my tank thats been removed from my car for about 5 months, with the cap on and the pipes blocked off with some hose. Was painting it yesterday and noticed something rattling about inside it, took out the fuel pump assembly, removed a lump of tank repair filler that was loose inside (some nice chap has bodged up the filler at some time). I refitted the pump and went to do some other work on the car. 30 mins later and a strong smell of petrol I looked across to see petrol spraying out the return pipe . removed the fuel cap to find a fair bit of pressure and the leak stopped. refitted the cap 30mins later the same again fuel spraying out over the top of the tank. Took the blanking hose of the pipe to the carbon canister and that cured the fault. From this I take it that as some thought the cap does not vent excess pressure this must be done through the carbon canister...... carbon canister removal time then? or you may even find youve kinked a pipe when fitting the new fuel pipe.
  13. Your current MOT still stands, I dont think the police would have the information that the car has failed, they can only identify whether its in test. however as already stated it is an offence to drive an unroadworthy car. If a cop stops your car and finds a cut cv boot he more than likely will V rec you giving you 21 days to get it fixed.... the worst scenario is you get checked by VOSA then you will end up with a 10 day delayed prohibition. It does make sense to get the repair done asap though to prevent water and dirt getting into the CV joint and causing damage.
  14.:rofl: yep only 4 months in and no body has a hope of catching him.

Mine is still in many bits.....so wont be there, I was going to go up in the daily driver but there has not been much interest from members, so I'll stay at home and work on the Z instead. Mark how long are you back for....... will you make the run in May?
  16. at zx-eyes, yep its taken a long time to reach this point, when some others reach it in a matter of months, but then again we don't all slaver pish non stop :D........... but as others have pointed out wtf cares.
  17. but nearly 4 years to do it
  18. No! quite right to post and warn us, not much comfort to you but should help prevent some of the other members from paying out their hard earned cash on shody workmanship
  19. try changing the cap first its going to be cheeper and quicker than changing the pump.

05:54  you must suffer from insomnia Colin.
  21. I think the original front tension rod bushes are filled with silicon or something similar, so could be your bushes are fooked..... other than that your motors haunted :)

 fook not again...... Colin if its ok with you I recon its better we call the meet off... yours would be the only one there. I'll spend the day putting more of mine back together instead.

Not many people going by the look of things, so if you want it probably suits just to meet in Crail around 10:30. Probably better for my car anyway I wont have to thrash the engine trying to keep up
  24. Wow you managed to find a tranny van with the front crosser in one piece. good luck with the conversion bud, that will give a few people a shock!
