  1. Despite what most believe, they are actually as good as most modern performance cars (in terms of braking distances), although they do tend to lack the initial bite of modern braking systems. The first thing I would do is have your your brake fliud replaced. It absorbs water over time which affects how pressure is applied and significantly lowers the boiling point. It Sounds Like it needs bleeding anyway. Your should also whip of each caliper (no need to undo brake lines) and check that each piston is not seized (very common). A set of performance pads Such as Ferrodo DS, Hawk HPS, Portefield will offer an improvement. In my experience there is a very significant difference in braking performance between different 300zx's with stock brakes, all due to condition/maintenance.
  2. Personally I would have he rechipped for a John Dixon or AndyP chip.
  3. ..or is that he appears to be doing a hard turn right on the steering wheel but his front wheels are still straight LOL
  4. Is it that the pic shows LHD car but they dont insure LHD cars under that policy ?
  5. You will need it to only alert you when the voltage drops for a certain amount of time.. 5secs + otherwise it will go off everytime you start the car as the voltage can fluncuate right down to about 6v when cranking,
  6. I was thinking of a bright red...that darker red is different and might just work out quite nicely.
  7. shut down a long time ago
  8. Looks lovely in a black Z. I dont think I would personally fit in a white z though.
  9. No probs..PM on the way

  11. You seem to have that the wrong way around. Toad are the alarms everyone recommends as they are so reliable, they dont always have all the gizmos that other alarms have but they are very dependable. Cliffords are renowned for being a pain in the butt and many Alarm fitter don't recommend them, but they do offer a lot of optional extra's.
  12. Looks like you've got a project to keep you busy. Is that Pearl yellow or Pearl white - I cant tell from the pics ? Either way its going to need a full respray when all the corrosion is sorted as bodyshop wont be able to match the paint.
  13. Hi Rich, I cant PM you with Payment details and lost your email address, can you contact me on david 'at' interwired.co.uk thanks
  14. Most of his initial grip launch is his fancy 4wd, but his road legal slicks would of helped a lot too
  15. You have coilovers ? soften the bound/rebound on the back...will allow more weight transfer to the rear on launch for more grip.
  16. It would of been changed, or they may possibly have used a T-piece off the Brake booster pipe. Probably the little pipe has come loose from the bottom of the Boost sensor (near the small fuse box in engine bay)...or they refittted the aftermarket boost sensor up to the balance bar in place of the original boost gauge pipe.
  17. Wont fit inside a Z, far too wide. You will need a van.
  18. Pics here of my previous Black Z with 99spec spoiler http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=627
  19. 99spec is harder to see out of than the original, but its not really a problem. The Brake light gets integrated into the perspex strip above the rear lights, not the spoiler.
  20. A Multimeter will help diagnose the problem. With engine off it should be around 12v, with engine running it should be around 14v. If its not around 14v then there is an alternator problem, otherwise its either a duff battery or there is a drain on the battery, you can test for drains by disconnecting the battery negative cable and placing a multimeter between the cable and battery terminal and setting it to 10amps Up top 30ma or less should be fine, anything over would suggest a drain.
  21. There is an extra outlet on the end for Clutch Booster feed
  22. Traction control will give you the maximum amount of grip available from your tyres at all time. Racelogic TC is adjustable and far better than factory fitted TC systems. But your talking about racing a car with a lot more power than yours, thats the problem.
  23. A Brand new original Gear knob is very high quality, definatly feels better than any of the aftermarkets I've tried. Although the stock handbrake handle does leave a lot to be desired, I;ve never seen any aftermarket versions I like though.
