Hey Mick, Good to see your well and work is moving in the right direction. Stick around, dont be a stranger :)
  2. A Ring gear. Just for the starter to engage with. Very thin and light....Weighs bugger all.
  3. Is'nt there a thickness difference between them ? I really cant remember. Yes, auto's are very different............they dont have flywheels  :p
  4. Most Z's are in need of a complete suspension overhaul ! Believe me when I say that something like 80% of the 100+ Z's I've worked on and driven over the years have very tired suspension.....and most of the time the owners have no idea, as its all they are used to. The original Stock items are way past their useable lifespan years ago. Unless you already have proof of new suspension upgrades in the recent past then every owner should be considering an Overhaul. Stock struts are about £200 for pair of fronts, £100 for pair of rears. Not sure about stock spring cost. A very popular and reccomended setup is KYB Gr-2(non-adjustable) or KYB AGX(adjusable) struts with Eibach pro Springs. Good ride, nice handling and very minimal drop. Very good value for money too : Eibach Springs - £180 + shipping http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_8&products_id=127 GR-2 -Full set - £180 + shipping http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_8&products_id=4253 or AGX - Full set - £280 + shipping http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_8&products_id=126 You can also find them cheaper on Ebay. They will completely transform the way the car Handles and rides over a tired stock setup.
  5. TT Flywheel is 11.2 kg

  7. Looks pretty amazing, 960x640 screen, HD video, 5mpix camera, faster, even thinner, better battery, new software, made from aluminosilicate glass and Alumiunium. Im waiting for the 3gs to 4 upgrade pricing, they said they will be launching special upgrade pricing even if your existing iphone contract has ages to go. If its too much then may just upgrade to the os4 software.
  8. I've always thought its ok, definatly one of the better aftermarket choices. Used to be a lot more popular than it is these days. Its aggressive without being ugly but It does lose the swag line so does'nt really match the sides (one of funkyi's pet peeves) Needs skirts though, always thought they looked stupid on Z's without skirts.
  9. This is it for £95 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/90-91-92-93-94-95-96-97-NISSAN-300ZX-CATBACK-EXHAUST-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem53e145fcfeQQitemZ360261745918QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  10. Has to be a mistake with decimal place. You can actually get them on U.S. eBay for less than £100 now ! (plus shipping)
  11. Looks like it's probably a jap and uk thing then.
  12. in the tailpipe near the join where the backbox joins to the cats ? I thought it was Jap only....its possible somebody fitted a Jap catback on yours after the original rotted ?
  13. 280ps , which is 276hp...which is the offical quoted figures (as per my post)
  14. The official Nissan figures are 280 (actually 276) for the Jap and UK Manual. (auto is 263) and 300 for the U.S Manual (auto is 280) The reasons for the differences are a little complicated and dont actually make much sense though.............. Jap models have restrictors in the exhaust after the cat which UK and U.S do not, but is mapped for higher octane fuel. UK modesl have a pre-cat and mapped for lower octane fuel , while the U.S model is mapped for even lower octane fuel still. Then you have the whole 280hp "gentlemans agreement" in japan at the time where manufactuteres agreed not to produce cars over that power figure. Except its well know that other cars did exceed this figure (GTR, supra, GTO ..etc) so thats the "official" figures....what they actually are would just be a guess.
  15. ...the Merc actually has quite a lot LESS torque than Kashchristian's Z. Its a bit lighter though (than a LWB TT). The Z 0-60 time is pretty respectable, but its not its strongest area. Weight and rear traction are the biggest issues. Traction is an issue becuase Nissan introduced too much anti-squat into the rear suspension which limits weigth transfer on acceleration. Its mostly to do with the angle the lower arm sits at and is something Nissan fixed for other models in later years but remained unchanged on the Z. Im looking at altering the anti-squat for my slicky.
  16. http://www.300zxclub.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=2955&osCsid=99ced98d6144222f191fe8c072c93f56 Cant seem to find the AMS copies on ebay currently. I wouldn't touch the SS version in your link, its a complete unknown.
  17. Sorry to hear. :( I've never heard of that either, thanks.
  18. It's a £200 topspeed exhaust from American eBay
  19. I've had a 360 for a few years now, never had any problems with it. tbh though I've stopped using it for games lately and just use it as a DVD player and to watch Films on, via Wifi from the PC. Seems to me that both consoles do pretty much the same as each other, and both do more than I'll ever need from them.
  20. I started watching it last night, but had to go out so only got half way through.... ....so far its...."ok".
  21. No thats not the case at all!
  22. Some rough weight figures for Standard cars : Model ------- Kerb Weight ---- Weight Distribution ______________________________________ TT LWB -------- 1580 kg ---------- 53:47 TT SWB --------1530 kg ---------- 55:45 TT Slicktop ---- 1500 kg -----------55:45 NA LWB ------- 1490 kg ------------ 53:47 NA SWB ------- 1440 kg ------------55:45 NA Slicktop ---- 1410 kg ------------55:45 NA Convertible--1540 kg ------------?? I prefer this calculator http://www.letstorquebhp.com/calculator.asp , the results are a little different but match up better to similar results I tried in reality previously.
  23. Im afraid nobody is allowed to say the name of the other clubs here, the world will come to an end otherwise.
  24. Sounds like you did'nt use an accuate weight figure ? For a typical LWB its around 1580kg. But with Bodykits and aftermarket wheels your looking at 1600kg+
