  1. This isn't particularly related to the 99 spec lights but seeing as I have loads of carcasses and have had loads of tail units through my hands I did save these chrome inserts from a set, now don't ask why I have some of these as I have found nearly all do not and I only have these and no more. I have also found that without these the white paint inside around the bulbs as flaked or burnt off on many units. Primarily there job would be as a heat protector as the brake filament bulbs get very very warm but of course do have reflective properties although I have not visibly noticed a difference, the small one on the end is a bit of a mystery piece. Anyway FYI, I have now done away with my led conversion and gone back to stock bulbs :cool3:.
  2. Happy birthday Dave .
  3. Agreed......mine's better :tt2:.
  4. Mines the other way, got a UK in mine but the pod is so mint apart from the unforgiving SORN dust . I don't have cruise either but couldn't live with a blank .
  5. I actually removed some lights today....................................................................................................................................................yes you read that right :turned: removed the swage line ones from the rear where15 smd's lit up underneath the red marker, see the pic below just no need for them I've got more than enough, I was never really in love with them - looks much tidier now with just the black swage 8mm tape. I also took out the 3rd brake light flasher that just flashed when braking, I bought another module today and this one fully adjusts the time it flashes and then goes solid, so I'll post up a vid later this week of it in action .
  6. Try them out !!! Get in your garage and touch negative on the base and then touch 12v onto each of the contacts and get back to us. I'll post panel 100% Monday and so myHermes will be with you on Weds, send yours back Dave in same box :thumbup1:.
  7. You have got to know me too well but when I use mine for around 1000 miles per summer the desire isn't there for this I'm afraid, I do have it on the Merc though and along with a lot of the clever things new cars do these days I do find it a good feature :cool3:.
  8. I think these dual contact smd bulbs bought above will work as I found some old bulbs today I bought a while ago and forgot I had them. 50% of the smd's lit up amber or yellow quite dimly so that's the 5w tail light part and then when I powered up the other contact they lit up the other 50% much brighter in white, so that's the 21w brake part, colours are wrong I know as we need red and red but the principal is the same so that's why I'm very hopeful of them working when they land on peoples doorsteps .
  9. This was once just a common or garden reverse panel, as with all mine now when off the 300ZX is in red, the 2nd pic shows it alongside some genuine 99 tails .
  10. I've started buying the ballasts and bulbs separately, it's cheaper as the last time I looked it was £20.00 per kit and at this money you might want to consider having some spares !! I always go for 5000k. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400482817123?var=670090925866&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261302168904?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
  11. Your looking at a genuine 99 spec reverse light panel and it lights up, to my knowledge the only one of it's kind in the world :cool3:.
  12. Does it blow on sidelights or when you twist again to dipped beam ?
  13. Stick a nail in to bridge the connections..............that's a joke BTW !
  14. I do have a set but they're prov sold....I cannot let go to someone else without his permission, as I am a man of my word :thumbup1:.
  15. I think you've blown a fuse !!!
  16. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !!
  17. You or anybody else wants to send me a genuine 99 spec reverse light panel for me to maintain the red 300ZX when off, in fact I make it redder and then lights up red at night, I will do this work and send back for £45.00. I have tried to keep this price down the best I can and have taken on board the costs involved in sending yours to me so have kept the price in total to around the £50.00 mark.
  18. You've copied and pasted....must be white, so side lights cannot be yellow but yellow is fine for dipped lights and front fogs ?
  19. I have a genuine 99 spec here, although I have opened one up before and I know what they look like inside I will have another look but I know 99% of what needs to be done already, so I'll be in touch but yes I'll do them if folk get them to me, just need to decide on a fee.
  20. Not a problem.....send it on . I can light up the genuine 99 spec ones FYI, making the red when off stronger and it'll light up at night also and you wouldn't know that I've fiddled with it !!! Easy work that Dave :cool3:.
  21. Fuse for your SIDELIGHTS, haha, is the middle 10 amp of the three on the top row, that's if you have all the correct rated fuses in there and have 3 in a row :clown:.
  22. I have noticed before Andy300z getting his series mixed up, so don't take it as gospel, I would expect those clocks will fit up to mid to late 94 but certainly not 95.
  23. Having had someone local to me come and collar that first one I did above in some sort of exchange, perhaps he'll post up and clarify how red these are, I thought I'd experiment with different ways of doing them and also colours but at the moment I have stuck with the same, well practically the same, as red works so well and also they look 99 spec when off. I still have some more experimenting to do as I want to try and keep that red outline (I did try blue but it wasn't stand out enough) but I am sure I can then illuminate in blue, green or yellow the 300ZX. So here is a pic of the two I have done  bear in mind this is under my fluorescent lit garage and 3 EL sheets are running from the one invertor so the brightness does dim a fraction :thumbup1:.
  24. Is this not a good idea? I figured it would be similar to your fog light HID install, but in the indicators. So I can fit the fog light vents. How will you seat the H3 bulb, what will the beam pattern be like, not known it been done before but eh give it a go !! Not sure if it'll fit though, I can't remember how long a HID lamp is. They're not that long, not sure this is your only issue. But back to these switchbacks. So if I just find myself the oem lamp holder from the rear for the break lights and side lights and that will fit in the existing indicator slot? and then I just need to wire them up? instead of modding the lugs, could I just leave a little bit of cable on the old bulb holder and the existing lugs and then just insulink the new cables on? the diagram on the eBay add is confusing me a little though. Get yourself a couple of stop/tail bulb holders from the rear lights complete with the 3 severed wires and wire these into your side light and indicator feeds. The stop/tail bulb holders will not fit into the indicator housing hole (cos it's meant for the indicator holder as the lugs are in different positions) without you just taking a bit off the lugs here and there, then they'll just offer in and twist home a little.
