  1. Gutted for you. Hope the damage isn't too great and Network Rail/insurance see you right.
  2. I think you've hit the nail on the head there. Although there's not many for sale, most are at the cheaper tatty end of the scale and therefore people are not used to paying more for a 300zx. It'll be some years yet before the dross has been broken, scrapped or the boy racers have moved on and then the values may pick up (slightly).
  3. Happy Birthday Daz :pint:
  4. I'm used to the sound of boy racers flying past :winkiss: You should have stopped by and said hello. Send me a PM with the details please and what Gaz had done/paid please.
  5. Yeah just got it. It could do with the rear bumper respraying hence me asking.
  6. Fair enough. I was expecting you to say that place that Gaz took his to. Did you not fancy it? Only asking because I've got something I'll need spraying shortly. P.s. keep the car, bin off the z31
  7. Looks great Daz. Love the splitter. Where did you get the bumper painted and how much?
  8. A lot of people use plastidip with good results. It gives a near OEM look.
  9. It's part of the JAE experience. Two years ago I binned both my tent and double air bed after they both proved to be sh*t
  10. I know. At times I too have considered selling the 300's but I know I'd regret it. To me they are worth more than the amount I'd get if I sold up.
  11. I'd probably say sell as the likelihood of you using it to any great degree is unlikely BUT as soon as you sell it you'll miss the power. Although you don't drive it now the option to do so is there - it's a mind game! So sell and TT consider TT'ing the vert sometime in the future. Of course the other issue is it won't be worth as much as it should be like all 300's, so is it worth getting rid? - decisions decisions
  12. Yeah I was hoping we'd catch up. Looking forward to seeing the car and what its become. I presume your parking in the public car park?
  13. I'll be along tomorrow - driving down in convoy with Dazzy McVert. No 300zx for me as I haven't put the brakes back together - but I'll be representing all things Jap with the GTR. See everyone tomorrow :-)
  14. No probs mate just a shame we couldn't sort it. Like you say time-out needed, step away from the car. Remember I'm having the seats :ninja:
  15. Don't blame you being pissed off its a bit of a mystery. The car's decided it can't be bothered with JAE this year!
  16. If you can't get it going in time for Friday take the TT to JAE
  17. Alternatively we could hook up the datascan again and try toggling the fuel pump to see if it kicks into life. You should hear it briefly when the ignition is on to prime the fuel lines
  18. You could remove the fuel pipe in the engine bay and see if its pumping fuel. Maybe the pump has given up.
  19. Daz, check the PTU and CAS connections are clean. When the battery is fully charged crank the engine for 10 secs with the fuel pump fuse removed. Then replace the fuse and try starting. Let us know the outcome.
  20. If you could get it to JAE then perhaps Jeff could cast his eye over it - its probably something simple.
  21. Do what I (occasionally) do and use a leaf blower to blast the water out - but you'll get even worse looks from the neighbours.
  22. £179 for the pair plus postage. Bigg Red do the same but it is dependant on what stock they currently have. The 300zx pair they had in stock were finished in blue - I didn't fancy blue and as there was no rush I was happy to send mine off. For comparison thought they wanted £230 for those with £70 cashback.
  23. In 2009 I completed a full rebuild of my UK 300ZX - engine, respray, interior etc. Unfortunately since then it has been sorned and sat in the garage. The one and only job I didn't attend to was the brakes and they were terrible to the extent it failed the brake bias part of the MOT test. The tester passed it presuming it would free up with use :shifty: Here's the car: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?126910-My-Zed&highlight= Anyway I recently decided to perhaps put the car back on the road and therefore overhaul the brakes. I removed the front calipers and indeed they were in a shocking state. At least 3 of the 4 pistons were seized. I had already purchased (2yrs ago:blush:) a rebuild kit so my intention was to rebuild them and fit new discs and pads. Despite my best efforts it proved impossible to remove the pistons despite using penetrating fluid, compressed air, various clamps and grips. Now I wanted to retain the stock caliper’s and I had already purchased the new discs and pads. My options were therefore to either purchase another set of calipers to refurb or send this set away. I decided to send my set to Bigg Red for re-manufacturing. They shot blast and completely refurbish the calipers using new seals, pistons, bleed nipples and then offer a variety of finishes to suit choice and budget. I opted for a polymer coating which is apparently resistant to rust, salt etc. They then pressure test them to ensure all is as it should be. I received them back today. Unfortunately I didn't take any pics of them before they were sent away, but take my word they were awful. Look at them now. Absolutely chuffed with them. So if anyone needs brake calipers re-manufacturing I can highly recommend Bigg Red
