  1. Strange you should post that, as i used to finish my golf gti with Mr muscle antistatic furniture polish, and the amount of people i had comment on how good the paint work was, is unreal, and with added benefit of it taking longer to get dirty due to the antistatic agent
  2. Groover, you have a PM, and just to point out, groovers quality of work on the pods is absolutely awesome, they looked really good once working, and i highly recommend this mod and groover to do it, even in direct sunlight. another mod on my list of cosmetics todo.
  3. I most certainly do, and can at the moment. I have to say though, after seeing a bayside blue zed in the flesh, i reeeeealy want one.
  4. You Sir are most welcome, couldn't of asked for a better day to be honest, sun was shining, 2 Zeds there (once mine finally started lol), that slam panel looks the nuts and kept blinding me with the reflection off the sun, when doing the hoses. Glad you didn't have to sing to your self on the way home, and all the fun of the side pods *cough* groover test them next time :P *cough* Would of been nice to fit your SS throttle cable cover though. just need to find a place that sells bolt raisers for it. Your Zed is absolutely stunning too. and the color in the sun today was awesome, cant wait to get mine don't now.
  5. your photos are rather close, are we looking at the top of the engine or bottom, id start at the top and work my way down the engine, cam cover gasket, cam seals, head gasket, oil pan seal, crank oil seal front / back, oil filter bracket, oil filter, any thing that basically uses something to seal the oil in
  6. have you checked around the rocker head covers?
  7. It still might not be that, but id hazard a guess that it wouldn't hurt to check the connectors anyway, the drain tube for the targa runs down the pillar into the passenger foot well / drivers foot well area, where it meets a 90 degree black pipe that exits out into the wing, even if the pipe is connected, you said the targa glass was broken, if water has channeled its way down the inside of the pillar, it would empty its self out behind the dash around the area the blower motor sits on the passenger side. then down near or behind the ECU and ending up in the foot well. but the path it takes is unknown due to water following the easiest route south with gravity, Behind the glove box you will have to move a cloth like substance out of the way, behind there the blower motor closest to the side the door is on, and then a box with connectors on the front, that i presume hold the controls for the auto directional flow control. (might be wrong on that second bit, but it would make sense to put it there) Might be easier removing the passenger seat, or at least moving at as far back as possible and laying the seat back rest back as far as it will go, remove the wooden plank hiding the ECU, and getting a torch and your head in there and having a good rummage around to see if you can spot dry water channels and corroded connections.
  8. corrosion on the blower motor connectors, it is situated behind the glove box
  9. have you checked the passenger side carpet for damp/wetness ?
  10. http://www.banzaimagazine.com/thismonth.asp Quality, grats matey
  11. Would depend when billing is on, should be going JAE in Kettering though, just trying to sort my car out first. ran the damn battery dead for some reason doing a compression test. though saying that, it has been sat there a bit now, with only idling going on, while i test things I'm doing. I'm still no further into figuring out this smoking problem, and now my compression results are not looking too good either. but i want to try with a different compression tester first before i start panicking. Im in wellingborough, so doubt id see you unless you drive through every now and then.
  12. Got any pictures of it before the work was done? but does look good i have to say.
  13. has the logbook come through yet? it says on that 91 registered.
  14. Dont use fiberglass, unless you can get it on there with out raising the underside.
  15. Id like to be the guy who owns the car park / scrapyard where all the abandoned super cars end up in the UAE and dubai
  16. Datsun sunny, the ultimate sleeper, looks like the bog standard family car....
  17. Ok, did the test properly, still reading 90psi per cylinder, on the passenger side bank, and 110 on the drivers side bank, now it could be a dodgy compression tester, as when i did cylinder 3 yesterday, it gave me a reading of 100, then i tapped it and did it again, and it shot up to 140. God I'm confused. so new engine time? or dodgy compression tester? anyone got one i can borrow for a day or two and send back to them? Thing i did notice, was that it was dead on 90 on the passenger side, and dead on 110 on the drivers side, on all 3 cylinders per side.
  18. OK im am confused as hell, yesterday, ok admittedly i did the compression test cold, and also with the CAS plugged in, and with fuel still getting to the system (completely the opposite to how it said to do it in the service manual lol), i recorded a reading of 140 across cylinders 1 to 6 Just did it warm, with no fuel getting to the system, and the CAS unplugged, and im reading 100 across all cylinders? surely i shouldn't loose compression when the engine is hot, due to expanding parts. is that a balls'ed engine? idle seems fine, and engine sounds good? Argghhhh! **EDIT** Oops, missed a step, "Depress accelerator pedal completely to allow throttle bodies to remain wide open" i suppose trying to suck air past them would definitely cause a low reading, ill go check again, and make sure. ugh, i hate doing pistons 5 and 6 :(
  19. front fogs id imagine, the loom for them isn't on the UK car, as they do not have them. only jap spec and i believe US spec came with front fogs. I might be wrong though.
  20. jjp where in north are you? supprised i havent seen you about
  21. no tax/mot so limited to in and out the garage at the moment, but going to be booking it in for a mot and taking it for a spin before hand. replacing the last two champion plugs tomorrow anyway for the ngk one's also going to be checking the condition of the passenger side pcv valve / hose tomorrow as that side of the plenum feeds the drivers side exhaust.
  22. what would cause sooty spark plugs? wrong type? gap? crap ones? over fueling?
  23. Thanks Si, Forgot about the service manual.
