  1. i do now, the lack of owners manuals for these cars is getting annoying lol, did people just get the car and throw the Manual out the window or something? or was it an optional extra? "ill have the leather seats, the auto gear box, and can i get one of them owners manuals please?"
  2. hmm, well, when i did the compression test the other day, i had to disconnect the CAS, might be a dodgy connection on the PTU after all it does enter the loom just after the CAS and i had a nightmare getting the CAS connector off. Woot, just finished re trimming my center arm rest in cream leatherette. got some nice thick stuff from Northampton market at £5 per square meter. just playing with odd bits here and there and seeing what the best stuff, to get the stuff to stick it down with is. used a heavy duty carpet glue for the arm rest, not too bad to be honest, but still waiting on my camera batteries to charge before i can get some pics, but im well pleased as i had to cut and fit it.
  3. well, Thanks to baz first, as i popped up to see him on Tuesday and got a few more parts to help get the Zed looking better internally (baz we forgot the silly clip covers lol) Anyway, new glove box is now in, so no longer have a hole in it, my furry holder is now in place so have a little cubby hole under the stereo to put all sorts of nuts while i work and also collect dust.. Found out what the stereo problem was, earthed it on the chassis and now it no longer turns off when the headlights are switched on. (earth on the loom is apparently rather pants) New chrome slam panel is now in place (my first bit of bling ) Also tracked down a strange buzzing noise and sorted that out, was the little fan above on the over head lighting unit. Now have a new problem, seems that i have a very lumpy engine. pulling the plugs off of the number 4 and 5 Coil packs makes no difference to the lumpy idle, pulling a plug off any of the others and the car struggles to stay running. What would cause 2 coil packs to suddenly stop working? i did change the spark plugs recently would this of caused it? im now using NGK plats. before it had champion ones, but not sure of the model and it ran fine, could it be the wiring loom? or the coil packs? Need to sort this out as i have it booked for the MOT next Friday.
  4. might be a clogged washer jet nozzle, had to do the fronts on my as crap built up in the washer jet bottle and was trying to force it out of the jets that were two small to get the crap out of. was a pain in the ass if you ask me. But in answer to you question, yes the rear share the same bottle as the fronts, its located in the drivers side front wing behind the bumper Check to see if its connected at the tailgate as well. id like to know how to get the front light jets working again on mine to be honest, i hate it when little things dont work lol
  5. lol Si, legoland sounds great to be honest, haven't been there in a while, i was also thinking of the national history museums in London, as i think my daughter would love that.
  6. thanks guys, lovely weather out there. So quick question for you, as i dont drink (dont ask why i picked vodkashots as a name lol) and i have children. Ideas for what to do on my birthday please.
  7. well as i work for my self, its always different. but kinda revolves around me doing this Up at 6:30am mainly due to the kids. check 300zx.co.uk 7am get um dressed and up, check 300zx.co.uk 8am check emails and messages on the phone, check 300zx.co.uk 9am usually around someones house sorting out a PC or collecting it for repairs / upgrades / trouble shooting / virus removal, check 300zx.co.uk 12pm check 300zx sneek to the car for a bit and see what needs doing if anything, check 300zx.co.uk 2pm get a phone call about a car that needs fixing, check 300zx.co.uk 3pm more work on someones computer, place orders for parts 4:30pm balance the books for the day, check bank, check 300zx.co.uk Recently its been more phone calls about car problems from people, so im toying with the idea of becoming a mobile mechanic and getting a van and some decent tools sorted out. Problem is, the work isn't always there with computers. it was before the recession hit, but now its temperamental, so need something else as well to help bring in the cash.
  8. well, my jap spec manual box didnt need an oil cooler, unlike my auto UK which does.
  9. Well, if anyone's car ever fails on the MOT, always ask them to point out the cause of the failure, alot of people dont and can get stung for work involved when there really isn't any. not saying everyone is like that, but its surprising how many will try and push a job out of it.
  10. Hi ya bud, get some photos up, i can possible help with break lines, wont know about the cross member until i can see it, seems a shame to break if thats all it is. So before you decide get some pictures. if you dont want to flash your MOT points on the forum, you can always PM me.
  11. i still wouldn't bother about getting new keys cut, ask in the wanted section about new locks and ignition barrel for a new set, someone breaking might be able to help before it gets sent off to the scrappers.
  12. i have seen a snapped cam, from a mates car caused by the timing belt snapping
  13. hmm, not sure but id place a bet on it being, someone took it off once with out marking it, and centrifugal vibrations when under load eventually made it snap. Or i could be well off and someone with a angle grinder came along during the night and wanted to make it "look like an accident" lol
  14. Not sure i like the new ass end body kit on that GT-R, looks well to wide with a short skirt if you ask me, it does nothing for the pipes mate. :whistling: But good photos, love the second one you posted with the wheel spin, very pro tbh that one.
  15. check your insurance on theft with key, as I'm sure you wont be covered, best to just change the barrel an door locks on both cars and the house
  16. someone said they used strip light cover cut to shape, i thought that idea was pure genius
  17. well to sum it up, its going to be a small Aston martin lol nice interesting fact about Toyota though
  18. Some good advice there, i suppose it would depend if you want that "padded" feeling when you touch the dash, i might get a heat gun and try it that way, and see what its like, but on a old panel, get some testing done and share my results, but the true test will be after a year of having it on the car, whether its sagging or not. but i suppose he wouldn't stay in business long if he didn't do it right in the first place, but then for the person doing it at home could be quite a disaster lol Best advice i could give now, is to test first and see what way would suit you best and what gives the best results. (as for nobbly finish once you take the old stuff off, a bit of sand paper would get rid of the sticky nobbly stuff and give a rougher surface for what ever adhesive you use)
  19. Glad you got it sorted out, i really should stop replying to posts late at night when I'm feeling tired lol Love the Zed battleships though :D
  20. lol the opposite to what i said, how to confuse a fellow zedder in 2 easy posts
  21. peal the old stuff off, id advice against foam under it due to you wanting to get it tight and to stick, or it will sag over time, if your going to be cutting your own, use the old as a template, and get some good spray glue to use, ideally with a high temperature resistance due to the car in the summer getting hot. Go carefully and make sure you pull it tight over the plastic, and tuck it around the edges, once on the car it will hide the rears and look bloody good. Anyway take your time and you cant really go wrong unless you use the wrong glue.
