  1. Have you got another by any chance Pete ?
  2. The strange thing is my car IS my daily driver ( which is why it,s wearing out , but that,s another story . lol ) but on a weekend if i havn,t been out on a saturday i,ve got to go for a drive on sunday , i get withdrawal symptoms and a need to get the buzz !! wierd i know , but true :thumbup::thumbup:
  3. Thanks for the input lads , mileage is around 100.000 , i,m getting a fair bit of smoke on tickover from the O/S but none from the N/S so naturally think the tub seals as i replaced them with re-con units 4 years ago for the same reason , when you floor it there,s a fair bit of smoke until it clears it,s self out but when you stop and on tickover it starts smoking again but not every time , pcv,s have been done twice just in case . The problem i have is i was gonna convert to manual and fit a boost controller , got a complete manual conversion kit , a pair of very low mileaege manual tubs which i,m gonna re-con and fit staggered gap rear oil seals and some free flowing exhaust manifolds but i doesn,t look like it,s worthwhile on this engine. The engine does run very nice , a bit of big end rattle on startup ( was gonna drop a set of shells in while i was at it ) and then it,s very smooth and quiet . I really don,t want to do all this work if the engine isn,t viable , any more input would be appreciated .
  4. Yes bud , not looking good is it !!!
  5. Only did a dry test , should have read the online manual first :blush: It,s not looking good though :cry::cry::cry: 137psi 130psi 135psi 130psi 145psi 137psi engine front I was checking it out as i,m gonna take her off the road , do a manual conversion , fit manual tubs and boost controller , looks like another engine or re-build is needed .
  6. You want your bumps feeling man , now go and sit in a corner and repeat 1000 times " i must not be stupid ," lol Think of it this way Allan what car in the same sort of price range would give you what a zed does , especially yours it,s frigging stunning !!!!
  7. :tt2::tt2::tt2::tt2::tt2: m8 , lol . You need a short holiday here in blighty and you could help me fit it :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
  8. I had the same thing when a so called mechanic at work offered to help me fit a new autobox in a Vauxhall Senator i had , he also pulled it up on the bolts ignoring my concerns , made a right racket on start up :hammer:I pulled the box again , the torque converter hadn,t located properly onto the oil pump drive slots and cracked the drive cog , luckily managed to swap the one out the old box. There,s mechanics and then there,s the type of person who should just work in a tyre and exhaust centre uess which one i copped for :cursing::cursing:
  9. I should think any thing that will cut down on the heat transfer and possible cooking the oil in the pipes which could eventually start to clog up lessoning your oil feed to your tubs is a good thing .
  10. Oh yeah just remembered , do most people when doing a conversion use the clutch booster or can you do away with it and fit a pedal assembly from an NA ? Cheers .
  11. Jeff i,m thinking of ordering a manual but lhd loom from the states , would this be a better option as i,ve already got rid of the EGR and AIV,s so don,t have to worry about connecting those , can,t think of much more that would be on the wrong side of the loom apart from master cylinder float connection ??
  12. Might be up for this , be nice to see everyone again , gonna be taking my car off the road soon to fettle the old girl up a bit :cool3:
  13. Cheers Jeff , the seller has included the manual portion of the loom or am i better off doing what you,ve said ? Thanks Allan
  14. Where did you get your loom from bud ??
  15. Cheers bud :thumbup::thumbup:
  16. Do you use the original auto starter motor ?? Ta!
  17. Usually go abroad but getting fed up of feeling like they,re just out to get as much out of you as possible :hammer: so we,re thinking of doing a tour of the west coast of Scotland , just hope we can time it right and get some sun !! lol

  19. Ooh i like :yes::yes::yes::yes:
  20. Yep , get rid and get a glass copy :thumbup1:
  21. Ah , by the time i,d wrote a reply you,d all beat me . lol:hammer: Must learn to type quicker :blush:
  22. Hiya bud , welcome to the club :thumbup: In Power mode the engine changes gear at the redline or thereabouts to get as much out of her before changing up but this happens automatically when you floor the throttle anyway , you,ll see a yellow light come on to the right of the steering wheel , when you ease off the gas for a short while it switches back to normall unless you,ve left the switch in the power position. Hold lets your car pull away in second gear and change up fairly quickly to reduce torque to the rear wheels for driving in snow and ice . HTH
  23. Ooh did someone mention beer :thumbup::thumbup: Your welcome bud but i can,t take the praise for the mod , i picked it up on here myself :thumbup1:. BTW isn,t it nice having a decent heater :yes::yes::yes:
