  1. Git , I nearly dropped a log :x::x:
  2. Now that,s nice :bow::bow::bow:
  3. At a merc dealership in notts a mechanic took a SLK out after servicing it and promptly wrapped it round a tree , he then legged it expecting no one at work would notice !! :xxx: Yes they sacked him and the dealership replaced the car .
  4. That makes it more difficult , mines got no crossover so it,s very obvious which side is smoking :headvswal:headvswal Even if you take an intake pipe off to see if there,s any oily residue probably wont help cos most of the time it,s the rear oil seal which starts giving out which allows oil straight into the red hot exhaust elbow , it doesn,t actually go through the intake system and get burnt which is why it,s normaly white smoke and not blue which is usually burnt oil . Hope this makes sense bud and i hope i,m right in saying it but this is what i sussed out when mine were replaced a few years ago , front compressor wheels were more or less spotless , rear turbines and elbow pipes were as sooty as a sooty thing , lol . HTH
  5. Have you got a twin exhaust or single outlet ? or have a cross over section in the middle of your exhaust ?
  6. I did my tubs a few years ago , engine out and did alot more as well , all the small water pipes replaced , core plugs , rocker cover gaskets and many new connectors on the loom , took me a whole week . The problem i have now is the o/s tubs smoking again , i,m looking into whether it would be easier to support the engine from the top and drop the complete front crossmember and suspension as a unit to gain access to the tubs , this way you only have to disconnect 2 front brake pipes and power steering pipes and column leaving all those vunerable brittle loom connectors intact . Any one done it this way :confused::confused:if so was it a better option ?
  7. Panelbeater for 27 years and about ready for the knackers yard :rofl: Used to really enjoy the trade but it,s changed soooo much with all the new materials modern cars are made of and the fact that insurance companys want you to fit as few new parts as possible , meaning your having to glue bumpers and headlights back together !!! It,s just not how i was taught to do the job:nono::nono: Maybe looking into a bit of property developing if i can get the financing i,d need , do a few houses while i,m still working and see how it goes :hyper::hyper:
  8. I thought it was different in each :confused: Gonna be fitting a pair of arms on mine at the weekend so at least Smithys link has cleared it up for all of us :hyper::hyper:
  9. Cheers Jeff . i,ll check and see what numbers are on it :bow:

  16. Slick Pete,s the man to talk to , he did a few things to his shorty and that didn,t hang about :bow:
  17. IIRC That was the piccy used by a dodgy bodykit supplier in the midlands called Badboy Styling , suposed to be really bad quality and fit and crap to deal with , i,m not saying it,s the same people but looks a bit sus to me :x:
  18. Behave Dave lol :rofl::rofl::rofl:
  19. :headvswal:headvswal:headvswal:headvswal lol
  20. Hope it doesn,t flood :shock::shock:
  21. I know what you mean , my mates mother passed and a neighbour who was only 38 both died of cancer !!
  22. Noisey in 1st 2nd and 3rd and dissapearing in fourth was always a sign of layshaft bearing on cars a few years ago , should be the same on a zed, on some cars you would hear a rattle on tickover , press the clutch pedal and it goes , that,s sometimes another sign !! . HTH bud
  23. Jack the front of your car up and lock the steering over , look behind the front wheel , you,ll see the suspension spring and the cup it sits in welded to the chassis leg , have a good look and see if the sealer around the cup is lifting , usually a sign of corrosion . Sometimes it,s just blatantly obvious that there is severe corrosion set in as it,s as rusty as the titanic !!!. We,ve had a fair few in that,s collapsed it,s suspension as the cup breaks away from the chassis . I,m not trying to worry you bud , the rest of the body rust is cosmetic but this is something that really should be checked , i do hope they,re ok for you though . Cheers Allan
  24. About time ya ftted a gas ram :tongue:;);)
  25. Check your front suspension spring cups ( welded to the chassis and the spring sits in it ) these seriously rot and your front suspension can collapse , I work in a large bodyshop that,s got a merc contract and we too have to do warranty work , it,s a bloody nightmare trying to sort these earlier rust buckets out !!!!. I,ve seen your model with the front crossmember completely corroded through :shock::shock: Apart from that they,re not a bad car :rolleyes::rolleyes:
