  1. yeah (even though I agree), you can use silicone but the butyl rubber gives a much better seal and is re-usable and can be taken apart again if you forget something or make a mistake or just need to get back inside.. Particularity going to all that trouble. it's available on ebay.. one example.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOLT-ON-PANEL-SEALER-BUTYL-ROLL-STRIP-SEALANT-BONDING-6mm-/331100969397?pt=UK_Body_Shop_Supplies_Paint&hash=item4d1727d9b5 by the way you are doing a spectacular job. :)
  2. yes... you don't need to change the door cards but I'm not sure about the pillar cover..
  3. strange this is, that's what he was doing... maybe the saying should be.. One life.......live it (within reason). :)
  4. as lexx says, ditch the filament ones and go for HID... the difference is amazing!!! the 300zx has projector lenses on the low beam and so perfect for HIDs ... note: however flashing the high beam (with the lows on) is a bit of a problems as I understand that HIDs don't like being switched on and off (it shortens their life). but there is a simple mod (in the Tech section) that will allow for them to stay on when the high is on. If you want to go for the full mode it takes a bit more work but will make the high and low totally independent.
  5. Hey, as I understand it there are different types of indicators for the Zed... there are JDM, UK and something else.. ( I think) .. a pic is worth a thousand words... or link it to one the same on here ... http://www.zcentre.co.uk/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=61&Itemid=7
  6. yeah, hi and welcome... best of luck... and lots of good info in the tech section before you ask a question that has been asked many times before.. :)
  7. LOL.. ye of little faith... £1.32 (includes vat) for your local Nissan dealer (if you collect)... at £20 I'd change dealers if I was you... :p ...
  8. too hard to check the catalogue ? :tt2: http://nissan4u.com/parts/300zx/er_z32/1992_3/type_1/body_front_roof_and_floor/front_bumper/illustration_1/
  9. just saw this on the Oz forum... http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/grafton/cars-vans-utes/1989-nissan-300zx-coupe/1035980504
  10. may be a silly question but have you checked all fuse boxes...
  11. are you sure it's not the Targa drain hose? (to check take the targa off, pour a little water down the front hole and see if it comes out the other end, it should drain onto the floor behind the front wheel, if not take the bolt out of the hose and see if it's coming out of there)) what size hose? As far as I know there are no VAC hoses as standard in the cabin and a bit pointless on an NA anyway (unless you're anal or just gauge mad) and why would it end there?
  12. and that is one of the possibility but why... (yes if the battery isn't strong enough to start it, it could flood just turning it over). I would do as has already been suggested to check the battery.. it might just be the terminals but you could need a new one. Does it start OK if you jump it? Think you need to do a full PM and Service on the car as well... I wonder who is/near London that you could take it to?
  13. ??? the OP is from DEC 2012... a year ago ...
  14. there are different fuses that could be related.. Footwell - Headlights (Exterior lamps, clearance, licence, tail & Side marker) Battery section - 1st row 3rd from left. Engine bay - main fuse box - Headlamp fuses x2 and relays, also check the earth under the fuse box. JDM & UK cars have different earths for the headlights and the earths are different UK has earth wire but JDM earths at the headlights to chassis (from memory) check/replace fuses and swap relays around, same colour ones are interchangeable. Also check that there is no water leaking on to the footwell fuse box, this will cause corrosion and all kinds of problems with the electrics. good luck.
  15. I hope you didn't pay 96.99 for that unit.. you can get that plug and play for about £3 (see one of phut's posts)...
  16. as he said... see FSM electrical section..
  17. is this any good to anyone ?? http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/nissan-300zx-camshaft-position-sensor/1044652596
  18. page 46.. for sender unit test.. http://stadzport.com/FSM/EL_Electrical.pdf
  19. gauge or sender unit.. have a look drivers side firewall near break master cylinder, there will be a vac line from plenum balance bar to a small sender unit. check electrical connectors to it, try unplugging it and see it it makes a difference. there is most likely a guide on testing it in the FSM.
  20. there was a post a few days ago, shoes the door and adjustment points, you should use the bolts to the door not the body.. see the FSM "BODY" page 10 "Door" good luck..
  21. so you can see that the door is out... not just the glass?
  22. LOL.. Launceston !! 29 deg !!! its level with the south island of New Zealand!! has the world gone mad??? hope you enjoy the perspiration while it lasts... :) and "Lightning McQueen" I hate to say it but it looks good lol.. made me smile... :D
