  1. Could well be the wrong ones then, as that's when they changed. I think the purple tops are pre '94.
  2. No, the manual gearbox needs an adaptor plate. If you really wanted to you could use a Z32 slushbox, as it'll bolt onto the Q45 bellhousing, but that would just be silly! Mounts need made. All the coolant pipework is custom With mine, I want to site the block as far back and down as possible, so using a dry sump system on it, so that needs fabbed + tank sited (possibly in the battery location) pump will go where the air con pump sits normally. Intake won't fit under the bonnet, so need to make a new inlet manifold (I'm using independant runners with individual throttles). Exhaust manifolds in typical nissan style are poor, so having nice 4-1 collectors done. Don't think the stock ones would fit. Too much hassle to use the stock ECU etc, particularly with IR intake, so using emerald ECu which needs wired up and mapped. It's pretty simple, as it only really needs CAS, TPS, lambda and temp sensors. Biggest problem is that only 4 ignition drivers, so need to fire wasted spark, but just pairing the coil primaries up will fry the drive circuitry, so need to use OEM PTU's then pair the inputs.
  3. Best just set it all up for 0 then see if it'll run Ok like that. Is it a stock chip? If so that'll be the problem at 1 bar. To be honest I'd just forget the S-AFC and sell it, they're the worst tuning device ever.
  4. What year is your car Mark, you might have the wrong ones!
  5. Has she checked the base timing is OK and the obvious things like new fuel filter etc? Unless the car is overboosting or running the wrong chip, it won't pink unless there's something wrong.
  6. So far so good. Got the intake system and ECU sorted now. Cams should be getting priced up soon, bottom end is at the engine shop being bored out as we speak, heads are gas flowed. Waiting on Hi comp forged pistons and steel rods to keep the internal mass down. Upper rev limit - in AUS they're running to 9500rpm in stock cars, but I'm not sure I want to run that much cam, likely to try to aim for peak power somewhere around 8000.
  7. Yeah, it's a centrifugal blower with a gear set on it. Much more efficient that roots types. Don't know what sizes they do, but they're apparently great on the k series in the elise
  8. Contact turbo technics about their blowers, very nice units.
  9. Oops, no you can't. Going to solid mount mine.
  10. Yes, just as easy as putting it in a TT really if not easier (no intercoolers etc to remove). Basically you need: Engine Adaptor plate for Z32 gear box ECU of some sort (I'm using emerald). Intake manifold (I'm going independant runner with individual throttles) + air boxes and filters Exhaust manifolds Dry sump + pump and tank You might be able to retain the stock intake and ECU but you'll likely need a bonnet bulge.
  11. Comes in the infiniti Q45 saloon. The engine code is VH45DE or the later VK45DE. VH is around 300bhp stock, VK around 370. Looking at the VH design, it's restricted by intake and exhaust manifold design. Inlet valve area is huge and CR 10.2:1 so plenty of potential. Also, nissan as ever run it over rich. JWT chip makes over 30bhp every time, and knowing JWT that'll still be tame. Stock engines with just a remap and headers are usually over 350bhp.
  12. No Lag, lower over all weight, dry sump so no oil surge, better weight distribution, V8 noise, ~9k redline - got to be for the better, I don't know how I'll live with myself! TBH I'd be surprised if a few nissan engineers never thought of it, just like the 16v 205GTi never happened but the car was better in every way for the Mi16 transplant.
  13. Of course it is. The basic car hasn't changed, it's just got a different engine. I wanted lagless NA power but more than my current TT motor, so the VG30 wasn't really an option. Granted you can get ~140bhp/l from a fully race prepped 4 valve engine but you wouldn't want to drive it on the road regularly. Just because it's a different route to normal doesn't mean it's wrong. It'll still work out cheaper than a big turbo conversion anyway by the time you factor in injectors, intercoolers, manifolds, internals, turbos boost controller etc.
  14. That's fekkin lovely. Always thought subtlty and taste went hand in hand.
  15. Sounds like you're on the right track to be honest. A good IR manifold and throttle bodies would help if you can get a cold air feed to them OK. You'll obviously need aftermarket ECU for it, but as you're doing it anyway, why not. Emerald is a good choice. You might want to look at lightweight hi comp pistons and good rods then go down the high revving route, but you will need to do the cams to gain much from the extra revs. Or you could put a nice big, revvy NA V8 in there. Sounds like a plan ...
  16. Did mine about 6 months ago and it's still going strong, interesting to see how long it lasts.
  17. Speak to Ryan, sure he can shed some light on it for you. Anything I can tell you would only be second hand. I think there's some stuff on the US sites about it.
  18. Stu, have you checked your wiseco's aren't ones with the pin problem. Not sure how you tell but you definately don't want to use them if they are, it'll wreck the block.
  19. One of the other forums has a 'recent topics' link when you log on with links to everything you've viewed or posted on. Find that pretty handy. Think it's nicoclub
  20. LRP will kill your lambda sensors anyway.
  21. If you search in help & advise should be some pics of mine. Also, don't forget the carbon cannister.

No probs Matt meant to give you a buzz to see how it was going. Did you get all my mucky fingerprints off ya bling yet?!

You only need them if the ones you have aren't capable of suppying enough fuel to match the air the engine is sucking in. It's unlikely you'll top out on the NA ones unless you do some serious work to it I would think.
