Brake disc help??
If all the discs have is some light corrosion then you could just remove and shot blast them. Paint the surfaces that are not touched by the pads and they would look fine.

Quiet around these parts
So what we are saying is that the technical role of the site is diminishing which leaves the "social" role as one of the main functions. So should we refocus on a "social" networking type application, whilst maintaining an archive of technical information ? My immediate feeling is no, mainly because none of the social networking platforms, of which I am aware, fulfil the community role, in the way I would envisage it. Not that I think vBulletin is a perfect solution either.

I think Google may also play a role here. When the forum was started search engines were not nearly as sophisticated as they are now, that is the main reason I created the .org site. Now of course you can Google pretty much anything and generally you'll find an answer within the first half page. Which is much faster than posting a technical question here.

Quiet around these parts
Iv'e been thinking about this problem for a while and I agree that mobile phones are part of the cause, the forum is not orientated towards that type of interface, and even using Tapatalk etc is a compromise. In comparison Facebook etc are very mobile orientated and in some cases work better on mobile than a full web browser. So, is this a sign that we need to adapt to the times ? Is there an alternative to the "traditional" forum based medium ? Should we consider some more social media type alternatives, such as Yammer (the only reason I mention that is that we use it at work). We have a lot of history in the forum archives, I can't see us wanting to lose that. I feel that we need a VBulletin for Mobile, rather than VBulletin for PC web browsers and a mobile phone app that is just a compromise.

Transfer or Reg Number
How many SORN'ed cars have a current MOT ? MOT & Tax tend to run out together.
-
Transfer or Reg Number
This is a right pain. What if your vehicle is of the type that requires and MOT and yet is currently SORNed ? I want to buy a plate and then hold it on retention until I need it, but this seems to be difficult ...

I need some advice regarding work
Great, looks like just about the best outcome possible then.

No power to cylinder 1 injector connector with noid light
The PTU does not fire injectors, that does the coils. Check whether you get a voltage back at the ECU connector for the appropriate injector. (and at the same time compare that with a known working one)

Look after yourself and don't worry about him. Use his "re-grading" to justify your own, above him obviously. You don't need it to look like sour grapes, just equality and fairness.

Cylinder 1 isnt firing
It's worth checking the ECU end of the wiring loom as well. I had exactly the same problem, took everything apart, removed the injectors and none were faulty. Then put everything back together with new connectors and it worked perfectly. However, in the middle of all that I discovered a suspect broken wire going into the ECU plug !!!! On the up side, the car had never run better than with all new connectors under the bonnet.
