  1. I guess it used to be a stable, horses seem to sleep with their head out the door ...
  2. Yeah, house and garages/storerooms are all listed ... Kind of serious oversight on my part really. Looked at the place and was very pleased with all the extra garage/storage space etc, but didn't think to measure the depth of the garage .... Doh!
  3. My Z won't fit in my new garage :( It's about half a metre too long ..... And before anybody suggests it, no I can't knock down the garage it's listed .... Not sure what to do at moment. It's been SORN'd for a couple of years, really, really don't want to keep it outside, it may be time to sell ....
  4. Yep, that's what I meant ! ;)
  5. People talk about welding a penny over it or similar, I acquired a blanking kit from somewhere, which just bolted a plate over it.
  6. I removed and replaced my plenum and it never ran so well afterwards. However, at the time I also replaced all the injector and coilpack connections, did the water bypass, removed the EGR and cleaned every electrical connector I could find. It did take a me about an afternoon to get the plenum off and a bit less to put it back, after I'd replaced all the connectors of course.

  8. I had one of those, or a very similar one a few weeks back. It's not a lot of use to be honest. You can install certain versions of Ubuntu on it, or XP (which is a real challenge due to disk space), but I couldn't get hold of the original Asus disk either. Mine appeared with some cloud based linux type OS on it, can't remember which right now, but it is mentioned in one of the Wikipedia pages.
  9. Cheating or simply ensuring that your equipment meets the test criteria ? The rule book and the people who interpret it are simply in an arms race. Were it not for that careful extrapolation of the rules Brawn and hence Button would not have won a couple of years back. The teams who win are generally the ones who have the best engineers who work out a way of gaining the most advantage from the rule book. Adrian Newey just happens to be the star pupil ...
  10. Yep, it's a team sport and perfectly acceptable way of exploiting the rules as they are written from my perspective.
  11. Wow, that was a long time back, I knew it was bad but I didn't think it would ever come to that. Hope he gets better soon.
  12. Just like on "How It's Made" - fascinating.
  13. I think you need to find someone local-ish with some diagnostic knowledge to help you out.
  14. Is your ignition timing right after having converted from auto to manual ? You may be 10 or 15 degrees out - that will mess up tickover. Also, altering the tickover screw only works when the solendoid/valve that automatically controls tickover is disconnected. How much has the car been run since the work - there may be a bit of oil around in the intake/pipes/turbos etc There may be more than one problem here, but starting with a known, good standard ECU has to be a starting point.
  15. Sometimes, but not always. Google mail converts lots of stuff for you, may be worth a try. Send it through that and then view in Gmail and copy the text out, past it somewhere else. There are also online conversion services and probably loads of OpenSource utilities available.
  16. Lol, that's not a gap, that's a cellar ! Seriously though, ypu probably don't want to fill it in, but you may consider floor insulation, the sort that goes under the carpet, would probably make quite a difference.
  17. Actually, we did a LOT more than that. I think we spent nearly £2k in materials, but we did use that stuff in one room.
  18. You can use stuff that is essentially insulated wallpaper. http://www.mgcltd.co.uk/sempatap-thermal Quite expensive, but easy to install and makes a difference.
  19. Sorry, not about camber shims, but if you think that a cold air intake changes the performance then you ought to get it chipped !
  20. Thanks Andy, very pleased to know that all seems to be working well.
