Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
Can only speak for myself and mine is running 666rwhp (at the hubs) so about 750 at the crank. Also got 580rwhp without NOS and in excess of 600ft/llb torque which makes for interesting driving on the road. I do enjoy the figures but numbers mean nothing without some real world action hence my recent forays into competition. Going to santa pod on 21st and will hopefully post up a reasonable time now that I've had some practice with the clutch :)

I will be attending santa pod on the 21st August and I believe there will be a fair number of zeds there. While I have never been a fan of the quarter mile I really did enjoy the buzz at Elvington and Pete has convinced me to try santa pod. So while I know there are lot's of meets to show off your zed what better way to show it off than at the strip :) Come on guys you know you want to lol

Update to my loss of power it turns out that we were only running on five cylinders and had a few boost leaks here and there. So not bad performance considering :) We are putting in colder plugs and are going to santa pod on the 21st of Aug just to give it another run out and hopefully get some better times. I know there will be a few zeds there so that will be cool.

Actually I did mean a five 'car' team and I reckon it would be a really good experience. Also we could help each other in respect of mechanics, wiring, and all the other possible issues which might be found at an event. Look at the SXOC and the GTRforum who all had four or fives extra hands working on the cars to make them work.

Hey Daz was good to meet you too. And we were busy but not so busy as you and by the sound of it your car is going to be fast!! Still not sure why mine lost boost but gonna have a look next week - could be a blown turbo but we shall see. I'm gonna stick with my engine guy as it least we made it to the event and I was pushing the car hard so things are gonna go pop. Pete was instrumental in the look of the car and had a big hand suspension wise too. We'll be back next year maybe you'll bring your zed too :) we're trying to get a five man team together :)

I saw an RB30 this weekend and I tell you it was an amazing engine. Even Pete was getting excited about it despite it 'not' being in a 240 :)

Hi guys, I've just got back home and the car is back in the garage. I had a great time at TOTB and have to congratulate the organisers for a fantastic event. Thanks to Riggers for some support on Saturday and James and Coolq on sunday (and of course Pete who always gives much appreciated advice). I have never done 1/4 mile as it never really appealed to me so it was quite an experience. Riggers is right that my best times were first thing Saturday morning and I did see a decent 1/4 mile and top speed run but from about midday on Saturday I lost all boost and did the rest of the weekend without turbo power or NOS power :) Having said that I persevered on the drag strip and learned a lot. And while I didn't do very decent times I think I've got the bug for straight line stuff :) On the handling circuit we did a little better but no boost did cost a bit of time I think. Here I'd like to think that the car did not disgrace itself and the 300zx found a lot of fans at TOTB :) next year will be back and hopefully will put this years experience to good use. I would definitely recommend going to this event and it's going in my diary now for the future!!

Forum trackday?
Good luck boys Castle Coombe is a great circuit and not too difficult to learn. The only problem that I can see is that if I recall there are about 8 right handers and only a couple of left handers. Not the best recipe for the 300zx and if you do push hard you will definitely suffer some oil surge issues. Also they are very strict on noise and last time I went there they actually measured every single motor before letting us out. Look forward to seeing the vids :)

It's what comes from being old and single lol. My bike's making 170bhp at the wheel and weighs in at 160kg as have dropped a lot of weight with carbon wheels and other bits. I love my car and while it's faster than a bike on the track out on the road bikes rule

Yes Dan at advanced motorsport is pretty good with AEM and know's his stuff :) My car was always very street orientated but the clutch has thrown that a bit. I will persevere because on full chat it's a great bit if kit and I think it just needs practice.

PS. Boost is 1.2 bar with one peak at 1.5. Who said AEM EMS was rubbish????

Thanks guys I will post an updated spec but mostly the work has been shown in another thread on the forum. It's not a beast to drive really other than the triple plate clutch which is taking some getting used to. I'll be doing a fair bit of driving over the next few weeks so hopefully by ten of the best I hope to be used to it :) I think he made a mistake I think we upped boost to 1.5 bar actually but I'll check. We never had mapping issues particularly as most of the problems were related to boost leaks and bits of wiring melting here and there. Also my battery was melting too lol. Considering it was an N/A last year I think we've done OK. It's a 100 shot of NOS.

Dan spent a few hours on the dyno yesterday and today looking for more useable power and I'm satisfied with this. We saw 580 rwhp yesterday without the NOS!!!

I'm not sure that we'll be that competitive. Some of the top tuners supposed to be bringing some serious motors and changing gearboxes, and diffs etc for the various disciplines. Having said that I'll be giving it a go but the main reason that I've entered is to have some fun, see what the car can do, and enjoy the day. The guy told me that it'll be the first zed competing so me and Jaffa making history lol. More zeds would be cool :)

I spoke to a guy called Dave Naxton and there are plenty of entries left. It looks like there is some big money spent so have to go there without expecting too much but I will try and compete in all three events and see how we go.
