  1. Speeding is not legally acceptable in any form, but to be fair I bet 99% of people speed at some point. There are places where speeding, although not right where a bit of fun puts nobody at risk accept yourself. I have a mad 1/2 hr occasionally, but only on certain types of roads where you can clearly see all around you and well ahead. If I ditch the car and seriously hurt myself then its my own fault. I always back right off to normal when passing oncoming traffic etc. But speeding in 30's 40's is a big no no, especially in built up residential areas. I say, have some fun, but please don't put anyone else at risk. Use lots of common sense!
  2. Without a doubt, I think worth more, but for Ebay having bids above £1500 is doing well in this climate. I just meant its nice to see them starting to climb in value as I've seen to many not even breaking 2 grand and its insulting!
  3. http://www.db-power.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=128_148_230_412_413&products_id=300&osCsid=cb8297ba827addb0989107872527bc1d
  4. And having my car converted recently I can say you won't regret it! It cost £500 for the 2nd hand parts £500 fitting And probably another £500 with new parts such as new clutch, slave + master cylinder, braided clutch hose, new gear knob, linkages etc - although not necessary to buy new, I chose to to reduce the chances of problems later.
  5. ^^^OMG! Had that been a RHD car the driver would be dead!
  6. Bringing good money too...... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nissan-300zx-z32-Manual_W0QQitemZ190374863351QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item2c5339e1f7 Real good to see Nice Zeds bringing better money now :) There was another last week that sold for £4500
  7. You've been watching 5th gear. And are probably most bothered most about the Shogun hitting the old civic side on. Horrific and made me think as well. But remember that shogun hit the civic side on at 60mph. Not even a new 5 series or something equal will stand up to that! You're dead in an instant! Paying more attention at junctions etc and being aware of others around you will go along way to keeping you safe. That test simulated a Civic pulling out of a junction on the Shogun.
  8. Not nice business this, feel for you mate. Roughly where does Redbaron live? I'm having problems with a pair of R33 Brembo, one of which has been broken and welded. So I'm gunning for a refund. Although I bought off Ebay. Some people are just crap!
  9. ^^^understand AndyP, but my guess is this persons had a crash?? the force of which has bust a caliper mount. Thats why there is one good caliper and one repaired caliper. All speculation though, cos I still have not heared from the seller. I have begun a Paypal complaint type thing. We'll see how it goes.... Just concerned about the 'not as described part' as the listing was very short just saying 'Skyline R33 GTR brembo front brakes a direct fit to a nissan 300zx Z32' that was it! Of course I asked the question are they in good useable condition to which the reply was yes. They are (or 1 of them) is not!
  10. Your right, I'm gunning for a refund. This is mis-selling as the product is not fit for purpose. Thanks....
  11. Any more thoughts on this Chaps? Really cheesed about this! It was an Ebay purchase, I asked the question: are they in good working order? - to which the reply was yes. Surely though I can claim there not fit for purpose now....I've had no response yet, but its early days. As anyone successfully received a paypal refund after using paypal resolution console? Cheers again....
  12. Hi Chaps, I have just received a pair of R33 Brembo calipers. I have noticed that one of the calipers has had a broken hub mount at some time and it has been welded back on. Obviously I have emailed the seller for an explanation, but my question to you guys is do you think it will be safe to use?? Won't hold anyone to their word, just after some opinions on this. Has anyone else had this happen before? Cheers....
  13. I removed my fan cos it was squealing, no ill effects. It is there to circulate the air around to get a more accurate readings to aid the systems control, but TBH I have not noticed any problems at all.
  14. I would say that if this is happening in the cold wet or icy weather then this is perfectly normal! Kicking down a gear or 2 at 350bhp ish will have rear stepping out!
  15. Your neutral switch is probably not connected (after a auto-manual conversion) or it is just knackered. Either way the timing will read 25 btdc at warm idle and will just idle a little high. It WILL NOT effect the normal running of your car at any other time because normally once the car is in a gear the neutral switch is O/C anyway and idle at tickover in gear will be 25 btdc. The only problem that does arise is the slightly high neutral tickover and when trying to set base idle to 15, you must earth pin 44 at the main ECU 1st....
  16. If you fit GTR R33 or R34 calipers then yes you can just fit the 324mm GTR disc. Also note you will NOT need any relocation brackets, but if you get the R34 calipers, the hub mounting holes will need enlarging to 14mm and you will need to get caliper mounting bolts as well. R33 calipers have the same 12mm hole. Have you got some GTR calipers already? Which ones?
  17. Like it lots... 2.8Turbo, what power do they run?
  18. Yep, upping the boost to 14psi with a ECU upgrade to make it safe is a significant performance increase. I think this will give you the bang you desire. As said b4 though, the car needs to be in good shape 1st, make sure you are running correctly, not in safety boost, timing correct etc etc...
  19. Too true, I bet up close and personal, the car is a dogs dinner! Photos are too good at hiding all sorts of imperfections. Seller from S****horpe, I can't say I've ever seen it driving about there. As Ebay sales go though, its currently at £3600! Which is quite high for Ebay. Some young chavs are swallowing the 450-500bhp bull! Not my cup of tea I'm afraid, Poor Zed!
  20. Looks like an easy install! And JimWolf has plenty of experience with the Zed... I say go for it!
  21. OK....my car is a 93 J spec. It is completely rust free! And I mean completely! Like Znut though, I have pampered my car since its import and it see no salty roads and very rarely a wet one... Get a fresh J spec import or buy a really well loved example from a Forum member and it will be rust & rot free.
  22. ^^^As above^^^ I have one of these Ebay Exedy clutches and my car is running extra boost and mods. The clutch is working perfectly. Would imagine that if you want to abuse your 1st gear regularly and traffic light race then it might fail early and a super duper clutch would be a better idea, but if you use the power on the move so to speak it should be fine. Don't pay over the odds.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NISSAN-300ZX-TWIN-TURBO-GENUINE-NEW-EXEDY-CLUTCH-KIT_W0QQitemZ180458155799QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item2a0424ef17
  23. I'll back Legrath up here, I have always watched my MOTs been done and honestly - they have never been in the boot. Over the years I have used 3 different test stations. So my answer to the original question would be that you'd be unlucky to be failed or refused a test because the boot doesn't open - but I wouldn't point it out to the tester!!
