  1. Just my opinion mate, but bet you could do better than that one. It says the car is not imported (I.E. UK spec), really think that a good Jap import would be better...unless you know of a nice low miles cherished,standard-ish UK example that is rust+rot free. If I was buying again, I would be buying one of the fine examples from this site that clearly had lots of TLC+money spent on them and a history that could be partly traceable from his/her posts. Due to the current low value of these cars, £4k should buy a really good example.

  3. I have the ebay clutch you are asking about here, fitted, tried and tested. It was fitted back in May and is performing perfectly. The only slight gripe is the release bearing has got slightly noisy, although there is a chance it wasn't changed with the clutch. My car isn't standard....running 14psi, apexi induction, exhaust, Zedworld chip. I drive enthusiastly, but very rarely do any traffic light racing. If you are type that give first gear some hammer regularly then get a stronger clutch, otherwise this clutch (if fitted & adjusted properly) will be fine. HTH.
  4. I would say that if you have had several months with out this problem and it has just started happening, then it is not going to be a fault with the alarm installation. It could be that this said relay is sticking keeping the light on or possibly a faulty door switch.
  5. Well I for one have never seen a Zed vert, very, very rare car. Good to see people trying to push the prices up IMO.
  6. TBH, as long as your very careful you shouldn't have too many problems....I was surprised at how reasonably tractable my Zed was the other day in the snow. Goes without saying, start messing with the go pedal and you will slide about. The front end was pretty planted too, the car only misbehaving when I was really.
  7. Oops, just realised Jimmer has mentioned this already.
  8. Have you checked the cars neutral switch. If this has gone duff, or is out of circuit (after a manual conversion for example), then it will idle higher than normal (850-900) because the ecu timing becomes 25 instead of 15. When the car is idling, hold the clutch in and put it in and out of gear. If the switch is working, there should be a slight change engine behaviour.
  9. Rover 220SDI - surprising good car, good performance, although engine unrefined, but hey, you said for under a grand! Oh, and they handle well.
  10. I'm confused. The original J spec front wheels ARE THE SAME as UK spec front wheels. UK spec rear wheels are 8.5j 245/45/16. Are you saying you have put UK spec rears on the front? If not and you have put UK fronts on, then you have made no change. If you have put UK spec rears on the front, then I would have thought no spacer would be needed. 20mm would make them stick out beyond the arch. For what its worth, I have just fitted UK spec wheels to my Jspec car. 7.5j front, 8.5j rear. The fronts were very set in and I have used a 20mm bolt on spacer to bring them out. They now sit roughly the same as the wider rears, which I felt needed no spacer. HTH:)
  11. Sounds just like the PS Fluid level, when your car has warmed up, the fluid expands and the light goes out, topping it up to the correct level when cold will make the light go out, but you probably have a leak I'm afraid - speaking from experience of the same symptoms. Top it up, see what happens.
  12. Apparently the lower U/J on the steering rack is prone to developing play and from what I understand its fairly easy to change.
  13. My aerial button is on the panel under the steering wheel makes it real easy for a pair of wires to run to the stereo area and break into the power aerial circuit. BUT you might want to read this first...... http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=130781&highlight=internal+aerial And then just disconnect your power aerial.
  14. Surely if its only started going funny since the cluster change then it would suggest the cluster is at fault. Could you not possibly pop your old one back in, if it all works fine then conclude the UK cluster you have is faulty.
  15. Agree 100% - The gauge is fine, it will be the sender that is failing, I recently changed mine & now the gauge reads perfectly
  16. Sorry mate, no link. It is just a local motorbike shop I went into. I asked for the cheapest open face helmet....£50, metallic blue, nothing fancy, but its fine for trackdays. I have tried full face helmets and IMO they ruin the experience, too stuffy and can't see properly. I'm like you - wouldn't wear one if didn't have to.
  17. I got my front & rear kit from Biggred via there Ebay shop and it was spot on....
  18. I bought a cheap open face helmet just for track days. It was only £50 - brand new.
  19. You are missing the one way valve that fits between master cylinder and the balance bar. The missing vacuum tanks are not the problem and only help with the pedal assist. I bought a new one way valve from MJP when my conversion was done. Also worth noting that without the vacuum tanks the pedal can lose some of the servo assist when changing gear if you don't completely back off the gas and it is harder for a moment. I am running about without vacuum tanks and it is not a problem, just something to be aware of.
  20. Isn't this the common result of fitting the upgraded tension rod bush that is too rigid?
  21. Just a thought, have you tried removing the kerb light bulbs altogether? This might be the problem. Don't think most people keep these in operation anyway as its a Jap thing, although some (me included) have relocated the sidelights to that location for a better look (wider stance).
  22. For you this one Phill82....I have fitted 15mm spacers and the fronts are still very recessed! Looking at them (its very hard to guestimate), I think 25mm spacers are req'd to bring them in line, but they are very expensive to experiment with and get wrong...
  23. Just answering this one for future reference purposes. Standard alloys have huge recesses and accept bolt on spacers with ease.....
