  1. Ebay my friend - look for a breaker, drop them a line....
  2. My mates GTO cambelt has snapped tonight! Just wondering if anyone on here has experience with a GTO's and if they know any specialists worth using to drop another engine in. Its a mark 2, 6 speed twin turbo and he lives near Doncaster. I'm assuming its an interference type engine, which means the valves etc will be knackered meaning a 2nd hand engine will be the best way to go. Any thoughts or comments much appreciated....
  3. Supposed to be a cracking car - and pick if the bunch. 5th gear tested all 3 and reckon the ZS180 was very good. I owned a ZT 260 (4.6V8), was a lovely car, but too thirsty and not that quick.
  4. Yes - I know that. I looked at the old Jap ECU & attempted to remove the resistors. On the 93+ECU (which I have) -they are so small, this task needs proper patience and comes with a high risk of knackering it anyway. My advice - £10/15 - get one from a UK breaker!:duffer:
  5. Just to let folks know, I have just popped a UK spec cruise control ECU into my Jap spec car and it has remove the silly 68mph cruise limit. It now cruises at a minimum of 30mph upto a max of 105mph! A real easy swap and IMO well worth doing. Just done a 50mile round trip and cruising at 80 is so much better. Cost me £15 Only thing to watch out for is getting the right replacement box. There are 2 types, a 89-92 Ecu & a 93+ One is a 16pin connection, the other is a 20pin connection, the latter is the later box. Hope this is helpful to someone:)
  6. My V5 document doesn't state manual or auto. When I converted mine, I informed Adrian Flux about the change, they added it to the details, but it made no difference to my premium and this was at renewal time! NB - I threw that bit in after I was given a price.
  7. As above really, the pedal switches are the common culprit. At the back of the brake pedal there are 2 switches, one is the cruise cancel switch, the other is the brake light switch. The brake light switch also cancels cruise when pressed (safety backup), but if faulty then obviously your brake lights wouldn't work.... The cancel switch IIRC is a normally closed which opens when pedal pressed, this interupts the cruise circuit. Sometimes this switch just needs adjusting, you can tell this is the case if you lift the brake pedal up whilst trying to activate cruise and it works. If you have a manual car there will be another cancel switch on the clutch pedal...same applies. Then of course the switch can just be broken (mine was) so the cruise never operated because the computer thinks one of the pedals is pressed. I bridged it out to prove it and it worked. A new switch cost about £30. Then of course you need the original steering wheel, press set at desired speed after the pod button activates the green cruise light.Without the wheel buttons cruise will not work. Note jap spec cruise is limited to about 68mph & won't activate above that anyway. HTHs :)
  8. Can't be a Zed, it would surely break down after a beating like that!
  9. Just to put a positive spin on this, my Zed is 100% leak free & has been caught out in proper rain. It has never leaked even when car washing. I do treat the seals to a light coating of silicon grease from time to time keeping them supple.
  10. I think the UK speedo restricts car to 155mph....
  11. Had the same low reading problem, just fitted a new OEM sender, problem solved, gauge reading noticeably higher all the time. They are around £90 though! But worth changing for piece of mind.
  12. Gulp! The only minor gripe is the rear spoiler for me, otherwise $80,000 well spent! Love it.
  13. Add another 0.5sec & more to that mate....more like 0-60 in 5.1 The E90 M3 might crack it in 4.5 but not the E46... Against a E46 a standard Zed will struggle....but not be trounced. Do the basic mods on the Zed though and its bye bye E46....as the Zeds superior turbo torque does its stuff!:D
  14. NOTE: you do NOT have to remove the door cards to change these. It is a little fiddly, but not difficult. 15mins per side maximum, but be sure to have a good look at the set up to make sure it all goes together as it should....
  15. Have a look at this thread first....you might not need to replace it. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=130781&highlight=internal+aerial
  16. I sold a set of those wheels a couple of years ago and got around £400 for them with loads of bids. And I regret it because they are quality, but I had just bought my car and didn't know what I had. As for the Ebay wheels, yes, a nice alloy for the money, a set just went over the weekend for £230 brand-new. Look out for the sellers that allow bids as apposed to just buy it now.
  17. The Focus ST is now looking to be a real good 2nd hand buy and a fantastic all round hot hatch even if not overly fast, but they can be mapped to 250/260bhp. A 350bhp remapped RS? Front wheel drive! LOL:smash:
  18. When I fitted an Apexi induction kit, I couldn't tell at all! Just being honest. But if it helps performance even slightly then it'll do for me.....
  19. Down a very steep hill maybe!
  20. New speed sensor time me thinks....certainly check the connections first.
