  8. First saw them in Silicon Valley in the early nineties and thought what a great looking car. Back in the UK got a copy of and was hooked and decided I'm going to own one of those one day. Started looking seriously in late '97 and finally found the one for me in Spring '98 at Howards Nissan in Weston Super Mare. A '94 UK spec manual in great condition and in my favourite colour. It also just happened to have been owned by Nissan UK from new which I thought was pretty cool. 18 years on I still love the car and can't see myself replacing it with anything else. Beautiful lines, sledgehammer fast and a car you wear rather than just drive in. It still gives me a sense of occasion every time I drive the car, turning heads and receiving generous compliments wherever I go. I've meet some great friends through my ownership of the car and the Club. Job done Nissan!
  9. Hopefully with all the work you have put into the car you won't need too much use of it, well done anyway.
  10. I suggest you take another look at the Wiki pages for the Z32.
  11. And the source of that is?
  12. Give me strength!
  13. It's always been Super HICAS! Here is a copy from the Japanese 1989 marketing brochure:
  14. It's been a while since I did the CC remove (and then refit) so I'm going from memory. Just look at the intake piping starting from the air filter and work back from there. Update Here is a picture showing actual location:
  15. Both the hydraulic and the later all electric systems were called Super HICAS in the Z32. I think it just got shortened in this discussion to just plain HICAS.
  16. This is a photo from: http://s95014253.onlinehome.us/63104/6901.html Not very clear, but it does exist! You can get to inspect and identify the CC connections by removing the wheel and wheel arch liner. The removal guide has pics which should help.
  17. Yes, plus the extra extra purge line which runs from the CC to the intake pipe near the air filter. The n/s throttle connection runs to the CC purge control valve. If is not connected the CC will not purge properly as the manifold vacuum increases. "the other pipe under under the ic isn't connected to anything" what does it connect to on the CC? It may be the second purge line. Connection types are marked on the CC.
  18. A properly set up and maintained HICAS system works just fine for me and I'm happy to leave it in place. To be honest I don't notice it operating which is probably as Nissan intended when developing the Z32 over 25 years ago. Today a number of very high performance cars including the Ferrari F12tdf, Lamborghini Centenario LP 770-4 and Porsche 911 GT3 all have rear wheel steering which operate on the same principles as the HICAS system. I would have thought those manufacturers must see a benefit to have included the system for their customer's driving experience.
  19. That will be the CC constant purge orifice "leaking" under vacuum conditions (as it should). The evap emission control system is shown below and shows the basic setup (turbo models have an extra purge line which runs from the CC to the intake pipe near the air filter. I've also attached the relevant page from the FSM which describes the CC fuel vapour purging process: efec-190.pdf
  20. Most tyre manufacturers publish the full specifications including the overall diameter for each of the tyres they make. The overall diameter is a function of the tyre size, width and aspect ratio. So for example, if you take a look at the specifications published by Toyo tyres for thier Proxes T1 Sport you can see the dimensions we are interested in for each tyre: http://www.toyo.co.uk/tire/pattern/proxes-t1-sport (click on "Specifications" tab to get table) The idea when selecting tyres is to keep the F&R tyres overall diameters as close as possible and in turn close to the original OEM tyres overall diameter. Toyo also publish the approved rim width for each tyre size with the optimum size highlighted.
  21. Yes, if it is a Carbing.
  22. Yes they are (were) stock 6x4s. You will have had a OEM rear amp which powered the rear speakers. The OEM head unit in this setup unit had built in front channel amps and line level outputs to the rear amp. I've attached the wiring diagram for you so you can see what is going on and trace the wires. Your radio brackets should look like this: If you don't get the little screws in the photo with your eBay brackets then I have a set of four you can have which fit the radio and cassette unit/cubby hole to the brackets. The brackets are fitted to the car with standard self tapping 4mm screws into the captive nuts which should still be in the dash. EL-93.pdf
  23. Are your rear speaker brackets metal ones with oval shaped speaker mounting holes?
  24. It's the auxiliary engine bay air exhaust vent, opens when the engine is running too hot. They often fail and end up permanently open.
