  1. I would really appreciate some advice here. Having missed using the Z topless the whole of last summer due to the new baby, I really want to use it as much as possible this year on day trips etc. (assuming no rain of course!). The problem is that the Targas take up approximately 70-80% of the boot floor space, and even for a day trip, I need to take at least the pushchair. I can't leave the targas at home as the weather changes so quickly! The question is: 1. Has anyone successfully managed to put both the pushchair and targas in to the boot, without damaging the targas and scratching the paint on the targa? 2. How robust are the targas? Can they take any weight or would that just crack the glass/deform the structure? Any experience/advice would be very welcome. BTW, the seats can't be used for storing anything as there'll be 2 kids in the back.
  2. Chkdsk should have an option to fix any problems found. Just tick the option and it should do the trick.
  3. I could be wrong but my personal view is that mileage is not such an important issue once you get to this age and value of car. Whether a Z has done 56,000 miles (for a 16-20 year old car?) or 100,000 miles should not really matter. The condition and quality of the car is more important, and of course how it drives. Just my 2 pennies worth.
  4. Best to ask it fix the errors. You should be able to back up OK after that.
  5. Thanks...perfect, although quite pricey as I need 3!
  6. Wedge type I believe it's called. I'll look on ebay to see if anyone is selling one from the UK.
  7. Nice car, and you're correct; some fabulous roads in and around Basingstoke. Always very easy to have a nice blast at will.
  8. I'd be grateful for your help. I need a bulb for the brake light on my 89-spec spoiler. Unfortunately the writing on the bulb is really hard to read and can only make out 12V21CP(13W). Searched the net but can't seem to find an equivalent.
  9. I was cruising along in my other car this afternoon when I saw in the distance a gleaming white bullet coming up behind me. As it got closer, I realised it was a Z and it looked absolutely stunning; more so as it shot past! Did it belong to anyone on here? Had a 99-spec spoiler. A339 in Basingstoke, around 4pm Friday.
  10. I agree with what you're saying but my point is that policies, rules and regulations should be correct in the first place and prevent such abuse. It's no good leaving the front door ajar and then wondering where the TV, laptop and jewellery has disappeared to!
  11. There are many things wrong with the running of government...and has been for years. Child Benefit is a prime example. The latest steps are stupid, ill judged and unfair, however what happened before for decades was scandalous. Why for example, were millionaires and billionaires paid £20 per week for their first child? Would they have noticed this sum of money coming in to their account each week? Of course not! Would they have minded if it was taken away? No. Child Benefit should definitely be means tested, but start off at say being paid to anyone earning £150k and under, then gradually year by year reduce it to say £100k. After that, review it again against the cost of living etc. Similarly, why are people on income support or benefits paid to live in 4-5 bedroom houses when the majority of people who WORK and pay TAXES never graduate from a 3 bed-semi throughout their whole lives? Sheer madness and again gross incompetence by councils/governments etc. None of this is the fault of the recipients; it's the policy makers who are at fault. People will always take what they can get...that's just common sense.
  12. The price of petrol is definitely hurting far more than most other commodities due mainly to the fact that we consume so much of it. Why? For many, it's now an essential part of their life/livelihood, so doing without is simply not an option for the majority of people. A simple example is commuting to work. Most people take work where they can and with the climate as it is, moving to another job or asking for more money is simply not an option. So they just have to absorb the rising cost of fuel, meaning that for a commute of 500 miles per week, with a car averaging 35mpg, they are paying out £86 per week. That equates to £4000 per annum. 4 years ago, they would have paid around £2500. The increase of £1,500 is significant for many people, but still cheaper and more convenient than moving, which would impact kid's schools, social life etc. The problem however is that for one reason or another, fuel is going to get more and more expensive. Even in times of stability, governments are starting to heap more and more tax on to the base price, in an attempt to appear more 'green' etc. This is ridiculous of course but it's become normal practice around the whole world and unlikely to ever reverse. The only alternative therefore are alternatives...which themselves are currently very expensive and not yet mature enough to be considered seriously by the masses. Over the next few years, this issue is going to start to change our lives, for better or worse, so we will all have to be very creative and open-minded about what we are prepared to retain and what we will lose. Tough times...but I love my Z!
  13. Great news. Another year of bliss.
  14. ZX81 Commodore 16 Commodore 64 Amiga 1200 PS1 XBox PS2 Not gone any further as I never even had the time to touch the XBox or PS2! I'll wait for the PS4 and hope that I may have more time by then!
  15. Looks great; very tempted. If only I had an extra parking space...
  16. Don't get me wrong; it's a fabulous example and clearly very attractive to many on here. It's just that the grey exterior with the grey interior, and the NA stock look just doesn't do it for me. I think the main let down is the exterior colour actually. Each to there own as you say!
  17. Lovely car but how boring does that look? May be I'm in a strange mood or the photos don't do it justice, but it looks incredibly dull and probably wouldn't turn a single head. And for £9k, there must be at least 10 much better examples on this site at a fraction of the cost. Sorry, but not for me even at £5k (unless it was to sell on of course).
  18. The spoiler's not for me but the car it's on looks nice.
  19. Yep! I'm afraid my PhD didn't help in working this one out...
  20. Stupid question I know but pressing it didn't do anything on my car which is why I asked. Still, ask a dumb question...enjoy the response!
  21. I remember the first day of Spring last year well...had the targas off...went for a cruise with the wife...and within a few hours her water broke...6 weeks early! She hasn't been near the Z since.
